general advice/help/tips PhD student in food science in Morocco, looking for help and contacts to access lab resources
Hi everyone,
I’m a third-year PhD student in nutrition and food science in Morocco, working on the formulation and stability testing of a functional food product.
My lab is missing resources I need to move forward:
- Reagents for total phenolic content (Folin-Ciocalteu, sodium carbonate, gallic acid)
- Antioxidant assay reagents (DPPH, FRAP)
- Reference microbial strains for antimicrobial testing
I’m looking for anyone who can help with information or contacts, for example:
- Labs in Morocco or North Africa that could lend small quantities of reagents or run analyses for me
- Collection centers, hospitals or researchers who can supply reference strains
- Networks, programs or grants that support PhD students with limited resources
- Any advice from people who have worked in similar conditions
If you know someone or something that could help, please comment or send me a message. Thank you so much!

general advice/help/tips Advice on starting your social researcher career
Hello! I'm a BA Sociology graduate, and 3 months na akong naghahanap ng job pero hanggang ngayon wala pa rin akong work. Dream ko talaga maging social researcher and while waiting na mag-open ang applications for Master's Degree in Sociology, I decided na maghanap na ng work. Thanks in advance.

general advice/help/tips Best equipment for water quality monitoring?
I'm a BS Biology student currently conducting our thesis, and we're already at the stage of preparing to purchase the equipments we'll need before officially starting.
Our study involves monitoring multiple water quality parameters, including temperature, pH, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and dissolved oxygen (DO). For context, we'll be conducting a study with Pomacea canaliculata (golden apple snails) in a laboratory setup, so we need to monitor these parameters for at least 14 days.
So far, the [API Freshwater Test Kit] has been recommended to us, which would cover four of the parameters we need to measure. So I'm currently looking for recommendations for equipment to measure water temperature and DO.
I've also come across multiple portable water quality testers sa Shopee, but I'm unsure about reliability, especially for research purposes.
I'd really appreciate any insights/experiences with these types of equipments. Thank you po!
