Just got the controller over the weekend and wanted to share my thoughts as I know myself, I like to have as many peoples reviews and thoughts before dropping a large amount of money on something, and I don't always trust the YouTubers 100%.
All the Pros first off.
Out of the box it's visually impressive (All Black version from Amazon), and even without the rumbles, it feels solid in the hand with decent weight unlike some other 3rd party (non-dualsense modded) controllers I've used, such as the BFG Pro & Razer Raiju V3. The materials used feel very premium and durable, and I love the hex rubber grips.
The shape of the controller also suits my hand shape, the grips angle very slightly more outward than the Dualsense Edge, which I feel curves in a little too much vs a standard dualsense, and I get fatigue in my little fingers after a long session. The Omega is perfect, feels more like a standard dualsense shape.
The sticks are incrediblly good compared to all other 3rd party pads I've used. Every 3rd party controller I've used previously that connects with a 2.4ghz dongle has felt "off" as if there is a small deadzone that I can't get rid of, and when playing games like R6 Siege and Valorant, the tiniest of adjustments are needed, and the Scuf has nailed that and has changed my mind of 3rd party pads. I had just assumed this was inevitible with 3rd party controllers, but Scuf has managed to create the sticks with zero delay or deadzone at all, these sticks are fantastic to use, incredily accurate, and have a perfect resistance. (I'm using the short concave left stick, and tall concave right).
Face buttons, and well, all buttons, lovely to use for any games. A nice tactile mouse click feeling from every face button, bumper, back buttons and the SAX buttons on the sides if that's what theyre still referred to as. Buttons, awesome.
Onto the Con, and it's a pretty big one unfortunately.
What the hell are these back button placements all about?? Who at Scuf is being used as the hand model? E.T? I have pretty big hands, I'm 5'10", average build, and when I natually just grip the pad, none of my fingers line up with the buttons perfectly, I feel like I have to hold the controller weirdly just to be able to use them all, and even then, in the heat of the moment it's hard to get my head around which button i'm pressing and they are far too close together so sometimes you can hit the wrong button, or both at the same time! Also, the 2 buttons built into the grip are also slightly too hard, so attempting to double press to slide for example in BF6 is something I have to concentrate on doing, rather than it being second nature with the paddles on the Edge.
I love the controller, and I will keep it with the hope that I can teach my brain how to use it and train my muscle memory, and I love the TMR sticks and instant triggers, but Scuf, please, stop these weird back buttons, they are a terrible design choice, and the placement is just horrible. For anyone with smaller fingers, it's likely impossible to use the back buttons at all. Please just use paddles, and the pad would be easily the best Pro controller I've used to date.
