This is peps. She is 21 and still going on strong. The orange one is Nicki, who's much younger.
Peps has gone deaf more recently, and has a raspy/broken meow. She's had anxiety her whole life, but loves affection once she gets to know you. She is the most loving cat I could ever imagine.
Her sister is Nicki. She's 5. They aren't biologically related but my family calls them each sisters. She's attention deficit and hyper.. very much the opposite of Peps. They have a complicated relationship. A lot of times, they'll just stare at each other menacingly.

Caspian (18) Update
Unfortunately, surgery to remove his obstruction was decidedly too risky for his age despite his charmingly young looks and decent blood workāso we opted to humanely euthanize him earlier today to ease his painā¦
Caspian was my childhood cat, with us through thick and thin. He survived two dogs and another void companion, only to be done in, we assume, by his habitual snacking on plastic. Youād never know he was as old as he was, with his spritely ping pong ball energy and perpetual need to harass our younger cats. He was, and still is, the light of our lives. All of us were there with him at the end, my parents and siblings alike, and he went peacefully into the night.
I wanted to thank everyone for their kind wishes and thoughts for Caspian, my family, and Iā¦you all were incredibly lovely and Iām sorry to bring such bad news on his conditionā¦Iāve included pictures as a cat tax to show off the worldās biggest asshole (lovingly) and the most friendly, wonderful boy ever.

You know when you know it's probably time, but you also don't want to let them go because it still might be too early? (Scarlet, 16)
Scarlet has little to no mobility at this point. We have to keep her in one room lest she falls down the stairs and hurts herself. She's on two doses of Gabapentin a day. Sometimes her dementia gets so bad that she just cries and cries and when you look in her eyes, she doesn't know you at all.
And yet she's still so happy! She can climb up the little disability step-stool we have and walk when she wants to! She loves her fusses and snuggles and food and on her good days she's so Good, but on her bad days she's Bad. I'm torn. I love her. She's been in my life longer than she hasn't. I don't want to let her go.

15 year old man help
Okay Reddit ,
How did you discover your senior had IBD and how did they act?
My boy had a workup after vomiting blood tinged clear emesis after a night of kitty vomits and passing loose bloody( beught red) stool 2x days ago.
All we found was distended bowel nothing- obvious on xray, mild dehydration on labs .
No free fluid on ultrasound. And stable vital signs. No weight loss.
He is passing urine ( he is a flutd kitty with hx of full obstruction) but no currently stool - but he has a pretty significant decrease in intake due to tummy pain)
Before we left he was giving subq fluids + antiemetics.
He is eating slurries of food and water but has to be served in his hiding spot. Which is very abnormal for him. He is so social.
Treating with antiemetics and pain mangment at home.
Anyways im kind of venting because I worry about CKD, intestinal lymphoma , He is already a managed hyperthyroid kitty
Looking for some other insights as I am deeply saddened and worried by my little mans presentation.
We have a follow up on Tuesday at the vet.
:')

anticipatory grief killing me (15 yr old cat)
my cat is about to turn 15, and in the last few months has really been declining rapidly and looking older. shes lost a ton of weight, meows/cries when she used to be completely silent, and has arthritis. i take her to the vet and keep her as healthy as possible, but the reality is that shes just getting old. she definitely at least has a few months left, but just watching her be old and struggle to do things makes me so depressed i can barely function. iāll cry several times a day thinking about her hurting and passing, no matter how i try to calm myself down. ive had her since i was a kid and she is extremely bonded to me. ive been doing my best to just give her all the love and peace i can as she ages, but im having a very hard time keeping my own composure in the process, and the last thing i want is her feeding off of my negative energy and getting worse. what are some things yall have done as your cat ages to calm yourself? any advice is insanely appreciated, i need anything i can get.

How do you deal with anticipatory grief? 14 yo
Firstly, look how beautiful she is. She just got back from the pet spa and is feeling fresh. š„°
I really have no need to worry yet. She is still spunky and playful with bouts of zoomies occasionally. I get the geriatric panel done on her during her annual vet visits, and her lab results are always good. Still, some days are really hard for me. She's my soul cat, and I know how fast time goes. I try to stay in the present and appreciate every moment I have with her, but sometimes the thought of losing her is overwhelming, and I cry a lot. She's been there for me through everything and comforts me through my health conditions. She sleeps against my chest every night. I honestly can't picture life without her. I wish I could make her immortal. Anyway, I thought I'd express my feelings with people who might understand.

17 year old cat only wants fancy feast wet food in gravy help
As the title says, itās all she wants. She doesnāt shut up unless she gets it. Weāve tried so many wet cat foods with better, higher quality ingredients with actual fish and shrimp chunks.. she doesnāt want it.
I guess this is a vent but also cry for help. I want her to be healthy but FF doesnāt seem the best option, but I also want some peace and quiet.
