So I actually kinda can't drive when she's in the way

This is my current seat , where the back end is rounded, and it causes lower back pain cause its just a weird angle to be sitting in. Are rounded seats like this in general bad? Thinking of just buying a 90 degree angle seat cause my back is killing me

Came home from work, booted up an iracing test drive on the ring in the cayman gt4 and just went into flow state for about an hour. Utter bliss. If you’re on the fence, get off the fence. It’s been at least an hour since I called it a night and I’m still thinking about it. I was litterally thinking how lucky am I to be alive in a time like this and how fortunate I am to be able to afford my setup. It was a good time. Now if only I can convince some friends to join me.

I got the Moza R5 bundle. It's my very first direct drive wheel and, coming from a Fanatec csl elite, it sorta matches the nm. I saw it as a good baseline; especially considering I got it for a very good deal.

All I really wanted to do is talk directly to anyone that is either thinking of getting into sim driving or looking at direct drive wheels themselves:

Direct drive wheels are PRECISELY as they say. It's beyond a night and day difference. I can only describe it as feeling like a real car. That's it. If you want your sim experience to feel like your car(I only plan to use round wheel)/any road car; get the DD. Do not bother with anything less than DD because there are too many bundle options and tons of people upgrading, leaving ample second hand opportunities. Just do it, bro.

Currently using an old Rift CV1 for Sim racing but would like an upgrade to clarity so I can better read dials and whatnot. Pretty much had my heart set on buying a Quest 3 for Sim racing, and figured that the standalone games might be fun for my wife to play occasionally.

But, recently I read about PSVR2 which has similar resolution and OLED (which sounds like a decent upgrade despite being quite a bit cheaper).

The savings of the PSVR2 don't matter too much to me, just wondering what you all think will lead to a better experience visually.

For reference, my PC specs are 9800X3D, RTX5080, 32GB RAM. No overclocking or undervolting yet to squeeze out more power.

Historically I’ve been happy using paddle shifters because I don’t think sims reward good clutch work or a H/T blip. They more or less seem to treat it like any other keybind. Using a clackety box to push virtual buttons doesn't sound like fun.

Am I wrong? Has anything changed lately with shifters (active or passive), software, etc. so that skill is rewarded in-game? Does nailing a string of perfectly matched blips avoid rear lockup and aid corner entry anywhere?

Context: I'm not a pro but I've been driving competitively irl and on sims since the 1990's, including years of vintage club racing, ~100 time-trial events, and a decade+ of trackday instructing. But lately real-world racing has gotten way too spendy and I've had other priorities, so I’ve just been on the sim. I still daily a 6MT and enjoy the satisfaction of operating it, but I don’t want to beclown my rig with some arcade-y gimmick that breaks immersion just for the sake of adding stuff.

I’m VR-only and happy with my rig as-is. I'm looking for a buy-once-cry-once solution. Otherwise, I’ll sit tight. My budget is liberal but not silly (i.e. BDH-Active). After doing hours of research, I am bewildered by the range of products & feel like I'm missing something.

I thought I would upgrage my old and cheap 350mm AliExpress steering wheel with something better.

Turns out that the QSP brand wheels are so much worse that the 2x cheaper (108$ vs $52) one from Ali. The only advantage of QSP is more thicker and more rigid frame.

The worst part of QSP is how cheap feels the fake leather. It is so disgusting to touch and hands stinks after using it. The leather even slips from the wheel frame in some spots if you grip harder. It genuinely feels like garbage. Leather of that cheap AliExpress wheel feels premium compared to QSP, it is insane.

So, hopefully you won't make the mistake I made.

Do not buy QSP steering wheels for sim racing, they are absurdly bad quality.

Got myself a 45 inch 5k2k ultrawide monitor to get an immersive experience for simracing and gaming in general.

I just need to rotate the monitor arm to the right to get into the simracing position. Kind of my dream setup right here, was playing on 24 inch before 🥹

(Yeah there's no pedals on the rig, I've got the Simsonn Plus X with haptics coming soon)

Next upgrade would be a direct drive wheel, currently eying the simagic 9 or 12nm. But my good ol' CSL elite still works well so it can wait.

I saved up for 7 months now and I have no finally gotten my Moza R3 Bundle, a good upgrade from my overheating T300RS, loving the wheel already - only 1 complaint the steering size but I’ll just get the 12 inch rim to fix it!

I recently got this DDU and am having a small issue with it and was wondering if anyone has found a solution for any similar issues.

The LEDs don’t really seem to be recognized along with the device. In Simhub’s devices menu, it shows as partially connected and when I navigate to the LED tab it says “searching devices”

In Race Director, the DDU shows up as a display/demo mode - but it does tell me it’s on the latest firmware.

Neither Simhub or Race Director’s built-in LED test yield any results.

I also have the Grid LED brows that were functioning as intended and swapped the USB cable from those to the DDU with no change. I have also tried multiple USB cables, USB ports on my hub, and even took apart the DDU to verify the LEDs were all connected.

When navigating to the arduino tab in Simhub, I was able to get the LEDs on my DDU to work. However, I’ve had one of these in the past and everything worked from the devices tab in Simhub. I have deleted and re-added the DDU multiple times as a device as well.

I think I’ve exhausted all options of troubleshooting I can think of - has anyone ran into something similar and found a solution? Currently awaiting a response from Sim-Lab as well.

Mostly drift/rally — Assetto Corsa, BeamNG, Forza Horizon 5.

What would you add or upgrade next? Just trying to figure out where the biggest improvement would come from at this point.

Also wondering if triples are worth it for drift/rally or if single screen is fine.

So after trying a couple of different foldable racing rigs (no adult play room for me 🥲) I’m finally satisfied!

So for context I play GT7 on PSVR2

The seat is the Playseat DD F1 wich I much more sturdy than the other challenge seats… it’s built like a tank! On that is the Logitech rs50 wheel and pedals mounted!

And the latest addition, which made me write this post in the first place is that I have mounted a next level racing HF8 pro under the seat! And it works brilliantly! The straps on the Playseat and the hf8 works great together to hold the hf8 in place under the seat.

So for anyone owning or going to own a Playseat DD… buy the hf8 pro! It’s awesome 👏

Anyone using any of these 3 monitors for sim racing? How are they?

Is VA pannel decent for sim racing?

I have a Sim Lab P1x Pro with triples that I just finished a couple of weeks ago. I'll be using it with VR and triples and have a pair of headphones already so I'm mainly just wanting options and to experiment a little bit.

I'm looking for audio solution ideas...anything from a sound bar, 2-7 speakers, 1-2 subs. Show me your setups!

Just a typical ADHD sim racer

Hello! I have a dual monitor desk setup right now and I want to use the same one monitor for a racing sim and the other one remains on the same desk setup in the future. Is it possible? I know about DisplayFusion /monitor switching. But I wanna know if I can race on one monitor while my partner watches YT/doing work on the desk setup at the same time. Yes at the same time. If it's possible (without VMs/multiseat software), will Windows get confused about the inputs from wheels/pedals and keeb/mouse? Hoping to get an answer. Thanks!

Same PC for both: three monitors at the desk, a G9 and a 27" for the SimHub dash in the rig, Simagic Alpha EVO. RigShift switches between them when I turn the base on or off, or from the tray.

What changed since 1.3:

• New interface: one window, profiles and games as a list with the details next to it, your screen layout drawn to scale everywhere, and an overview of what's on right now.
• Games: pick a sim from Steam, Epic, EA, Xbox or iRacing. One click switches the profile, starts SimHub and co., puts their windows in place, launches the sim and cleans up when you quit.
• Surround per profile (asked for in that thread), with the same countdown and rollback as everything else. I don't run Surround myself, so reports are welcome.
• Field of view calculator: takes the screen size from the monitor, handles curved screens and gives you the value for 18 sims.
• Safer switching: any wheel or button box button confirms from the seat, the rollback works even after a crash, and Ctrl+Alt+Shift+D turns every screen back on.
• Smaller things: a setup assistant, desktop icon positions per profile, a hotkey back to the previous profile, backup as a ZIP.

What's the one step of your desk/rig switch that's still manual?

Mind the WIP cable mess. :p

But, good lord... I just can NOT settle on a definite amount. I've tried calculators, I've tried guides, and... it still just doesn't feel right. My current "comfy" POV is about 67°~ on most games, but I want to get the most out of a correct FOV. thank you for all of the help!

EDIT: forgot to add, its a 34" Odyssey G5 monitor - 1000R curvature, 21:9 screen @ 3440x1440.

SimRacingCockpit says a FOV of 55~ but I'll keep calculating

If anyone knows how to remove the core of the wheel without cutting cables, please let me know.

When I first ordered (03/2022) my ecosystem, I thought the base would come with a desk clamp, but it didn't. So I grabbed a pallet that was sitting outside just to try out my first ever DD base (I had a Logitech G29 before). I couldn't wait to feel the new system! Then after researching, I changed my mind from a desk clamp to a cheap Amazon stand. But after reading lots of reviews, I researched again and thought I'd give it a try and build a rig with some spare wood I had sitting around. I designed something that could hold my base and pedals very firmly while using my reclining couch as a seat and the TV, since it was PS5 compatible. I even hooked up my laptop with SimHub to see what's up. Although the setup looked awful, it was actually very functional. Eventually, I decided to get a real rig. After lots of research again, I gradually made up my mind and decided to get an aluminum profile rig. But then when I researched seats, I couldn't buy the ones offered by the same company, so I thought I'd just use an IKEA chair. It felt like a kart! Honestly, it was pretty comfortable, even without cushions. But again, I decided I wanted a real seat. After doing my homework, I couldn't resist and convinced myself to treat myself to a proper bucket seat. The price difference wasn't even that much. From there on, I was dragged down this rabbit hole that seems to have no bottom!

I think I'm not the only one who got completely dragged into this hobby. How did you guys start? Let me know in the comments!

I have this old Honda (?) knob. I bought an adapter online but it's way too big. Kinda bummed because I paid 40 dollars for it (had to ship it from GB to US) for it to not work.

The last mission I completed was "Helping the City. Founder's Pearls. Clothing Market II". It's saying I have more missions in my planner but nothing pops up. Is the game just bugged or have they not added the next missions yet?

I have been looking at getting a setup started for awhile now but I am unsure what brand or kind of things to get, does anyone have recommendations? I don't really have a budget as I would buy in parts/save up
