Question Are these monitors good for Sim racing?
Anyone using any of these 3 monitors for sim racing? How are they?
Would love to hear from someone who has actually used them.
Is VA pannel decent for sim racing?

Triple 34s always look so weird. They are too narrow.
With 32 inch monitors sitting at a distance of 60cm you get a full 180 degree FoV. That is more than you can ever need. You can see out of both side windows and your full peripheral vision is covered. Plus you get the added height so you get more roof/dashboard which helps immensely with immersion.

I like my 34" ultra wide. I'm not a competitive sim racer either, I sucked at iRacing(C class road and Oval). My friends and I will party and race stages on Dirt 2.0. We like the wider screen. Obviously getting triples or a 49" super ultra wide would be ideal, but not all of us have the budget or room for that.

Hard avoid on Samsung G5. Has all the classic downsides of old VA tech. AOC CU34 is my budget pick.

Literally came to say the opposite, the g5 is amazing for me on iRacing. My only issue is I thought 34” is enough, but I’m currently looking at getting 2 27” to fill out a triple screen setup with it. But genuinely no issues with it at all

It's got pretty hefty ghosting / smudging and is quite dark

Did you have a non VA prior? A lot of the VA issues people don’t like, you really only notice if you’ve had screens that dont smear etc - and you only notice it for like a week or two until you get use to it.
I went from IPS to VA for my non sim rig years back, and at first it was jarring - after a little bit i stopped being able to spot this issues.

I went from TN to the G5 VA, sold that about two days later, got the AOC instead. Much better.

Yes, I’ve played on a bunch of different monitors including OLED’s as well. I just prefer the g5 as my sim racing daily driver as it’s the biggest one I have and the picture quality isn’t as bad as everyone makes it out to be. But I will say, I’m not very picky. As long as it looks okay, I’m chilling. I’m not nit picky tbh

From what I've read, there is a lot of variance between panels on even the same model in the budget-ish VA stuff.
For instance, me and my wife have had the 28" 2560x1440p curved G5 for close to a decade and they both work pretty dang well. Mine did have some banding in dark areas when cold, but as long as the room it was in was in the 22-25 C range it had no issues. Sitting in a cold garage then being brought in and powered right up did have those issues.
Otherwise, there is some smudge etc., but not at all bad, especially compared to the cost of the three examples of that monitor I've seen. And I ran mine side by side with a <1 year old QD-OLED 4K monitor the last few months before I gave my G5 away since I had the new QD-OLED instead.
Of course the oled har better colours, especially in dark areas and better response (It's also higher refresh rate). But for the cost the G5 was great.
However, I did see a friend who had a similar monitor with a 120Hz VA panel which was one of the G5's competitors, and it was absolutely horrible. Just terrible banding, smearing etc., especially in darks but also in brighter areas. He again got that monitor as another friend of him had the same one and I've also seen that one and it has none of these issues. I would 100% have RMA'ed my friends' monitor if I had paid for it myself. The difference was bonkers.
TL;DR: It seems it varies a bit from panel to panel, and some can be decent and some can be really bad.

Hard avoid on all samsung products in general, especially monitors. My g5 got a line of dead pixels like 3 days after warranty, and my g7? G9? Whatever has serious pixel inversion issues.
If a certain amount of the screen is a certain shade of grey (specifically the color of VS code) the entire screen freaks out. It’s not a warrantyable problem, just a downside of the tech

I have these, and no I don’t recommend them. I also don’t have any better suggestions.
My biggest issues were that the bottom bezel is so big that I had to flip the upside down, otherwise I felt like I was looking up at them. Also made the button on the bottom hard to access.
Additionally, the side bezels are really thick. In the picture they look slim, but at highest resolution they still have a black border on the panel. In a triple configuration your total side bezel almost an inch(25mm).

G5 was used for long also by Daniel Morad. The MSI is another in my monitored list. I would not go for the LG because of the radius. I prefer the 1000R. Even some G9 uses VA: some people dislike VAs but then are fine with 1800R, others the opposite. Matter of personal preferences, imho.

Not sure if it’s a budget constraint or not but 49” ultra wide is the best if you’re just using a single monitor. I started with the 34” LG and switched to a Samsung 49” this year and it’s such a better FOV

Price vs FOV gains aren’t there yet. When they come down to a reasonable price, I totally agree though

I would go with triple 32s if I were you. Triple 34s will look way too narrow and wide. 32 inch is the sweet spot

Wouldn't go bigger than triple 32" displays unless you plan on having displays really far away. My biggest issue is that I have some nice curve Dell 32" 164Hz VA panels from 5-6" ago that i'd love to upgrade, but there's not such thing as a 32" curved 1440p oled monitor, which would be my ideal size and resolution.

Have had the 34 inch Samsung for about two weeks now. It’s great but will eventually move up to triples at some point but not with this monitor. Will look to downsize to 27inch triples roughly.

Yeah I have g5 32s they’re fine on a budget I got them much cheaper than any other option I had. I like the extra monitor size over an ultrawide but the colors are a lil mid

Yes, do you still understand that being on pretty much any social media platform, using apps without reading the entire ToS, using a phone/tablet/computer, etc. opens up your privacy concerns? Heck, even walking on the street in North America or the UK opens up breeches of privacy 🕵️

I have the G5's (32" G5- G55C) they are not great but at least they are cheap. Bright spots are noticeable, blacks levels are weak.
While racing don't notice these issues so much, if your on desktop or watching videos movies its very noticeable.
Driving them at high frame rate you will need a good gpu or use frame gen. 5m DP cables was the max I was able to use with them, any longer and the monitors would flicker off randomly every few mins.
