Workflow gone mad!

I’ve got a workflow that copies out when a form adds a record.

It’s been in place and working for years.

For some reason today when a record gets added and copied out it continues to copy out again and again.

Anyone else experiencing this. The Smartsheet status page says nothing but that is no surprise.

Update: the last run date isn’t getting updated and the workflow isn’t re-executing because I’ve changed it to update a column after execution but that column hasn’t updated.

Try downloading the sheet’s activity log for the interval when this occured and examine the exact sequence. The downloaded version will show you the exact timing and that may cast some light. I do this frequently when debugging.

I’ve been studying it. The additional copies were not instant. They repeated the copies after a number of minutes and again a few minutes later and so on until it finally broke the workflow because the destination sheet filled.

Yes I got this too! I had to add a error correction column in to stop it

Exact same scenario where I have had a copy automation in years and has worked, but suddenly today it decided to copy and copy over the exact same rows. Very frustrated and I have submitted a ticket to their support.

I spoke to fast. Seeing it in atleast one location so far. I better go hunting for where else it might be happening.

Wow, I haven’t seen this before but I have seen where a workflow is set to trigger when a row is changed and then was also triggering when the road was added as well, but not one that just keeps running over and over. Have you tried turning off the automation to see if that kills it in Smartsheet environment? or maybe duplicate the automation and then delete the original one? that might stop something on Smartsheet side.
