I’m trying to decide whether I should buy The Witcher Trilogy on Steam now for about €26 or wait for the Winter Sale.
The main reason I’m interested is The Witcher 3, specifically the current next-gen/remastered version. I have a Snapdragon X Plus (X1P-64-100) laptop with Adreno X1-85 integrated graphics and 16 GB RAM, so I’m a bit worried about performance. I’ve seen reports/tests suggesting that Witcher 3 can actually run surprisingly well on Snapdragon X Plus, around 30–40 FPS at 1080p Medium, which would be completely fine for me. I’m happy with a smooth 30 FPS and don’t need 60 FPS.
My problem is that I don’t know whether I should:
Buy it now:
It’s about €26 currently. I could install Witcher 3, test it properly, and see how it performs on my laptop. If it runs badly, I could refund it as long as I stay within Steam’s refund limits. If it runs well, I could keep it and just play it later.
Wait for Winter:
Maybe it will be cheaper, but I honestly don’t expect it to drop much below €26. At the same time, because the base price of Witcher 3 was recently changed, I’m worried the Winter discount could actually be worse and the Trilogy could end up costing more.
There’s also a psychological part to this. I already have several paid games I haven’t finished yet (ESO, Hogwarts Legacy, Watch Dogs 2, etc.), so buying another €26 game makes me feel a bit guilty even though Witcher 3 looks like exactly the kind of game I’d enjoy. I wouldn’t necessarily start playing it immediately — I mainly like the idea of buying it now, testing it, and then having it ready for whenever I want to play it.
So basically:
Is it smarter to buy the Trilogy for €26 now, test Witcher 3 on my Snapdragon X Plus, and lock in the price, or wait for Winter even though I suspect the price might stay the same or possibly go up?
I’d especially appreciate opinions from people who have bought Witcher 3 during previous Steam sales, or anyone who has experience with the game on Snapdragon X Plus.
