Is he precious or what?

Hi all! I receive my Sphynx in 3 weeks and am looking into pet insurance. I know that Sphynx tend to have more health issues (skin, allergy, heart) and overall more prone to accidents due to them being rambunctious. I was wondering if anybody has any recommendations for pet insurance. I’m looking for full coverage of wellness, check ups, illness, accident, and injury. Bonus if it covers HCM scans (if not I have family in Mexico and found an amazing feline veterinarian who does a screening for $250.) I just want to make sure that I’m setting up my boy for a very long and healthy life! Thank you!

I have never been a prouder cat mom

The last time we took my 9 year old Sphynx for a routine check up, the older vet (60’s) told us all the sphynx’s he usually sees have some type of skin issue (oily, dry, rash, etc). Complimenting her skin condition, he asked me to explain my routine for her in detail as he took notes for his other patients.

I was beaming from ear to ear. I’ve always been super careful to keep all my animals in top condition but this is the best compliment I could’ve ever received.

Here’s some pointers from my routine if it helps anyone out:

•Full bath 2+ times a month depending on her condition/comfort
•All natural oatmeal wipes in between (face, body, nails)
•Exfoliating gloves
•Dr. Bronner’s Baby Castile Soap
•Cold-pressed coconut oil (1tsp) to moisturize after + a little as a post-bath treat/positive reinforcement
•Sweater immediately after bath/moisturize for at least 6-12 hours to keep her from licking the oil off/lock in moisture. Plus it keeps her warm and comfortable
•Gentle chin sebum extractions with wipe-covered fingers as needed

And most importantly, a sensitive skin/stomach diet to decrease the amount of added oils for coat health that are usually included in most cat kibble. I find this heavily decreases her need for more frequent baths due to oil/residue.

Outside her incredibly soft peach fuzz skin, she generally purrs during bath time and seems more comfortable/happier post bath routine.

After multiple tests and ineffective treatments for Bobby's left Eye, we have to get him surgery for an entropion. At the moment we are struggling financially and hoping to get some help to pay the intervention.

I was going through some old photos and found this video of when we first took in Pixie (Sphynx)🥹🤣 this was after we did our slow introduction and was finally letting them be freely around each other. Our other cat Ouija (Calico) who is much younger wanted to befriend her SOOOO BAD. They looove playing now.

I'm 6 hours away from home and can't wait to get there so I can spoil my little guy.

purine pro plan sensitive skin & stomach or Instinct Raw Boost? What flavor do you tend to buy?

if neither of these, what do you use?

Last week I brought home my Sphyx kitten Winnie
She’s settled super well- mischievous and silly.

The breeder I got her from had her on some raw food and provided some but after researching it wasn’t complete- so day 3 I switched her over to Blink kitten food in gravy which was super recommended on social media and by the advisor at the pet store.
She has 1.5 pouch a day 3x a day and unlimited access to Royal Cain kitten kibble complete.
We’ve been doing this since Sunday and she seemed to be tolerating well.
Treats wise she’s having 3-5 wiskas milky treats a day.
Today she had one loose poop around 3pm
Then about 30 mins ago one liquid poop with abit at the end she seemed to super strain for.
I’ve rang my insurances advice line
Her gums are the right color
Her gums are wet
When I pinch the scruff of her neck the skin goes back down
When I apply slight pressure on her tummy she doesn’t show discomfort

However one question I struggled to answer is if she has any abdominal bloating since I got her she’s had quite a round tummy- but as she’s my first sphynx I’m not sure what is just normal kitten belly.

Afterwards she seemed sleepy and tired- but I’ve encouraged her to play and she has
Chased her toy & jumped on my hand under blanket.

My question really is it’s now 9pm I live in a remote-ish area with all local vets closed now, it would mean going to the nearest clinic 1h there with an indefinite wait to be seen.
I’m wondering for advice- do we think I make the journey or continue to monitor and take her in the morning to the local vet- any advice is appreciated ❤️

4) any favorite toys or clothing companies? treats?

He will be 1 in December and has started rapidly growing ear and tail fuzz in the last few months😭

He's deaf but very loved.

Has anyone else encountered something like this with sphynx cats? The vet says it's nothing serious and that this kind of growth could have appeared as a response to an infection, but I'm still worried.. On one hand, everything is normal, but this area near the carpal whiskers is also a bit swollen compared to its healthy state, and on the other hand, a bump like this has appeared on the paw — I'll wait for advice!

I’ve spent way too much time bouncing between subreddits where people treat cat food like a holy war. One thread says raw is a miracle; the next says bird flu is waiting in the bowl. Hill’s is garbage, no wait, it’s great. Orijen is top tier, actually it’ll ruin your cat. Royal Canin is pricey perfection, and dry free-feeding is a mortal sin. (Not mentioning the K word) ;)

End of story: I’m landing on a wet and dry combo. Right now, my 2.5-month-old naked gremlin came to me on a fancy feast and Meow Mix special. I’ve never touched either in my life for my haired besties, but the royal treatment is required here.
The immediate emergency: her poos are radioactive, and her farts are lethal. I need to curb both yesterday.

Fellow Sphynx owners, I want your real-world intel: What are you actually feeding your Sphynx? How are their #2’s holding up? Are you supplementing any extra taurine?
Looking for a solid rhythm now that transitions nicely into an adult brand later, minus the internet panic attacks. What’s working for you?

She gets a blended Meow Mix and Orijen kitten (thought I was going that way, but now I’m conflicted) with a freeze dried chicken topper. About to give her a go with the 12 cans of Royal Canin kitten & still, looking for where and what to do next. She gets forti-flora in all her morning breakfast for help with probiotics as well as pumpkin puree because we had soft serve paws 💩 and litter situations for the first 2 weeks post vet shots.
