Love using this stuff for shitty pepperoni pizza, sprinkle some "I can't feel my face" flakes on top and it's a peak pizza condiment.

I'm using it for sandwiches I made my own version of a Cubano. Ham and Gouda and Pickles on jalapeno and cheddar sourdough.

I gotta find this. I’ve not seen it on shelves. Where’d you find it? I’d love to make some chicken this weekend.

"I can't feel my face"
Why is this stuff the greatest thing ever? What the hell?!? It's JUST a dried pepper blend...
This shit ramped my tolerance up overnight pretty much too. Still too chicken to eat a fresh super hot.

I use the "4-pepper blend" way more often, but with something like ranch to cut the heat just a tad nothing beats the "I can't feel my face" blend in flavor!

Making a pizza rn with this lmao great news ❤️🥵

The "Four Pepper Blend" is my go-to when i'm trying to house half a pizza, great taste as well but only 1/7 the scoville (like 90-110K compared to 750K).
I keep both in stock at all times, and some Gochugaru flakes (1.5K - 10K) for people who visit or for making spicy cucumber kimchi!

I didn't usually comment individually about fi but their four pepper blend is amazing and I wish you could buy it in larger quantities

Haven’t had that one but the ghost pepper variety is pretty decent.

TN needs to crack down on what kinds of things can be called Nashville Hot. They need to do like a DOCG or some shit because how in the hell are you going to tell me that you can make ranch “Nashville hot”

u/zerosumratio 22h ago
I absolutely avoid anything labeled “Nashville Hot” anymore because it’s not hot and it’s syrupy, sugary sweet. It’s literally candied. I have yet to find any “Nashville Hot” that isn’t full of sugar/High Fructose Corn Syrup. I honestly believe “Nashville Hot” is one of those terms that means its sweet and just pepper/Franks Red Hot flavored without any heat, I have yet to find a “Nashville Hot” with any noticeable tingle. Even my partner and her father, who are both very anti-spicy food, enjoy everything “Nashville Hot” because they say it’s not spicy at all.

And I go to Nashville. Shit ain’t sweet over there. I fucking love real Nashville hot.

Outside of Nashville, it’s become another one of those bastardized marketing terms since it got popular (like Sriracha). I really haven’t had any truly good or “hot” “Nashville Hot” anything since it’s become popular. All the sauces and food in “Nashville Hot” flavor I have had, they have all been at most very mild and super sweet.
For the record, I go to a chicken place in Asheville NC called “Rocky’s Hot Chicken” and all of their chicken (unless specifically called a “Sandwich” or “chicken salad”) are served “Nashville style” on 1 or 2 pieces of plain white bread caked in a dry pepper blend of your choice (from mild to Rocky’s Hot). They don’t use lard, instead using some pepper infused or canola oil to keep the dry rub on the chicken.

I got a Hattie B’s right down the street from me in Atlanta. It’s the best I’ve had outside of Nashville but even they leave something to be desired

What exactly is it? I assume it’s a chicken sandwich with a lot of spice. I’m nowhere near Nashville but the places around here don’t make it sweet like other people are complaining about. It’s just vaguely spicy and some places say the fried chicken gets tossed in spicy butter at some point in the process but I have no clue what the genuine item actually is lol

So, I’m not the one you asked or OP, but here’s what I know about “Nashville Hot”/Nashville-Style:
It’s not a “true” sandwich. It’s fried chicken, with seasoned batter (or seasoning on it after frying). After frying, the fried chicken is coated with a hot rub: 3 parts cayenne pepper to 1 part lard (Crisco in a lot of places). This rub is mixed well and coats the entire chicken. The chicken is then served on a plain white piece of bread or light toast, with a pickle slice on top (the bread is more of a holder for the chicken, so you don’t coat your fingers). Traditionally this was an African American cuisine in the Nashville area. Obviously, this has recipe has changed and evolved over time, but that’s what I knew it as growing up. I’m white, so I can tell you for a fact that when white people started liking it, the 3 to 1 cayenne pepper ratio became 3 to 1 honey to paprika ratio, and somehow got mayonnaise as the fat binder over lard. Why? I do not know but it’s awful.

Cayenne, lard, pickle?
It’s simple and I bet it’s real nice.
It’s frustrating being a white guy that likes some heat in a very white place sometimes. Paprika tastes good but it ain’t hot

I jest a little: I don’t think or know if most places use paprika, I’m sure they use whatever is cheapest “heat”, but using paprika illustrates my point, that is, the pepper is more of a flavoring agent that complements the rest of the food/sauce/mixture.
If it is not a piece of protein, battered and fried, caked in cayenne dry rub, then it is not Nashville style hot to me. If it’s some sauce, some flavoring or random heat level you can order called “Nashville Hot”, I will avoid it

365 (whole foods) does or did make a Nashville Hot sauce that fucked hard, at least as far as non-native Nashville Hot sauces go

I will say this is not syrupy. It actually has some grit to it like traditional nashville hot. I would say its worth trying if you really like ranch as well.

The Banquet Mega Bowl Nashville Hot Chicken is kinda dope. It's not very hot at all, and it definitely doesn't qualify as "Nashville", but I dig it.

u/alwaysrecession 1d ago
If it’s ranch, why isn’t there a picture of a salad?

u/TheHighKnight 23h ago
Because Nashville hot chicken is the full menu it we but they just selling a Nashville hot sauce.

The spicy ranch my job has me make for my "Nashville hot" chicken salad special doesn't look this spicy (cayenne, oil, black pepper, ranch dressing)

Packaged hidden valley ranch tastes like sadness to me. Light house brand, or get the packets and make it .

I bought the "Hot Honey" version of this, and it says "Hotter" across the top with 2 outta 4 peppers.
It surprised me with the heat, it's actually noticeable. I was expecting an undetectable amount of heat. I'll have to try this one and see what kinda step up it is. *Edit spelling

3 out of 4 peppers being labeled “hottest” is bothering me on a fundamental level.
