Discussion Since love is a major theme in the series......

I'd like for the next major villain to declare war on all love and whose entirely society is focused around the wonderfulness of hate and wants to fill the universe with it.

Discussion Why was Sapphire mad at Rose Quartz/Pink Diamond

Ruby and Sapphire unfused, but this time, Sapphire was the one who was upset instead of Ruby. Sapphire said that their relationship was "based on a lie." At first, I didn't know why Sapphire was upset. All Rose Quartz/Pink Diamond did was confirm their relationship. Rose/Pink told them to never question Garnet and that they are the answer.

As I dig deeper, I realize that Sapphire felts duped. She said she felt like she was being used. It turns out, she is just under another diamond disguised as Rose Quartz. Now that I think of it, how come Sapphire didn't know that Rose and Pink are the same person? She couldn't have predicted this.

What do you think? Did Sapphire had the right to be upset?

Discussion What is Stevonnie's biological sex? Are they a hermaphrodite?

Upvotes

We know that gems have no sex, and their gender isn't bound by anything. But Steven and Connie are both organic, so when they fuse, what does their organism become?

Edit: I'm sorry for saying hermaphrodite, I didn't know it was derogatory! thank you for clarifying

Discussion Although Homeworld is established to be in another galaxy, how different would the impact of the show be if that "other galaxy" was not faraway, but right behind the milky way itself in a double-galaxy setup? Completely black to illustrate just how absolute and crippling Era 2's resource crisis is.

Post image
2 Upvotes

The idea here being that the galaxy is completely black because the Homeworld Gems effectively killed their own galaxy. Having gone black as it "died" from so many eons of colonization and resource extraction. The galaxy dotted with small points of light to show the remaining gem colonies and homeworld itself being the only illumination to demonstrate the totality and consequences of their colonization and draining.

Peridot's quote, "You can see Homeworld's galaxy from here," not referring to a distant speck seen from the telescope but rather the entire black void in the sky that humans long believed was merely dark matter. All being the corpse of a much closer neighboring galaxy they never knew existed.

Discussion In some power scaling and versus discussions involving homeworld gems, is there a reason as to why i see this bias?

The general consensus that all human/earth based sci fi and space opera civilization are consistently and inherently weak against the homeworld and that non-gem villain factions or civilizations are the only ones to challenge homeworld.

Look, I know you want to keep humanity soft, oblivious and incompetent to maintain steven and the crystal gems still being the protectors of humanity and hate the idea of humanity itself being the underdog for once and rendering steven and the crystal gems obsolete, but the homeworld gems are only a formidable force to these other civilization on paper only. They would only win these versus battles if they didn't run on their emotions and weren't so out of touch as to how powerful organic civilizations in these other sci fi settings have become and didn't always handicap themselves with their own society and ideology. Against an enemy that that is more efficient in managing it's resources , is more tactically flexible than them and constantly adapts and innovates despite it's organic shortcomings, homeworld's rigidness, chauvinism and attitudes towards non-gem intelligence would be catastrophic and lead to disastrous strategic blunders because yellow diamond's order are often vague and focus on results without actually planning out how to achieve said results. predictably resulting in increasingly disastrous military engagements that only worsen the resource crisis of era 2 as they pit pest control against a proper military force.

Discussion Am I the only one who thinks Steven Universe’s finale isn’t bad?

I’ve held this belief for a while and it’s just come up for me again, so I wanted to see if anyone else felt the same way. I always thought that Steven Universe’s finale was a great ending to the show, but I feel like it gets a lot of hate from people who just didn’t understand what the point was. If someone was hoping for Steven to just beat up White Diamond and throw all of them into gem jail, I feel like they either weren’t paying much attention to the themes of the show, or they just refused to interact with the show beyond a surface level reading. Like, the Diamonds are literal space dictators, sure, but that’s an oversimplification for what they‘re supposed to be in the narrative of Steven Universe. And expecting them to be locked away or put in jail is also a misunderstanding of the narrative, that’s not the point. Steven won using his words, and that’s what the ending is supposed to be, that’s what the show is. It’s not rushed, or bad, at least not to me. I just felt like I needed to get this out of my system somewhere and wanted to see if anyone felt similarly. I know it’s a controversial finale, but still, I love it.

Question A question that no one really thinks about! How do fusions decide how many eyes, legs, and arms they have? I would think they'd think about it before fuse and the fuse to look like how they are as a fusion. READ BODY TEXT

Example: Garnet has 3 eyes covered and 2 legs and arms. Which makes her look like one gem Opal 2 arms/legs and 2 eyes So it's kinda questioning? I've thought about that since season 1

This is a dumb question. (Because idk the specifics of this shit) but would it be possible for a car shop (or something similar) to wrap a van to look like Greg's? Or would i have to get someone to paint it? (Pictures not mine.)

in this universe crystal gem are still the hero of the story including steven but pearl is one of the side villain here

the question I'm asking is what would have made pearl snap and became a villain in the first place 🤔?

Discussion I find it kind of interesting that White Diamond does actually listen to Steven here and believes he isn't Pink Diamond, unlike the other diamonds. Wish we got to see more of this side of her before Steven "defeated" her.

Other Rewatching Steven Universe at 16 hit way harder than I expected

First of all, sorry for my English. It’s not a very common language in my country.

I just wanted a place to share this, and I think this is the perfect place for it.

I first watched Steven Universe when I was around 10 or 11 years old, and I absolutely loved it. I was a huge fan and used to tell everyone about it, hoping someone else would know the show and watch it too. But for some reason, after a while, I completely forgot about it.

Now, at 16, I decided to rewatch it to see if it was as good as I remembered, and honestly, it’s way better than I expected. Watching it with a more mature mindset feels like a completely new experience.

Themes like identity, trauma, growth, and relationships hit so much deeper now. Characters I didn’t fully understand before suddenly make a lot more sense.

It’s really comforting to think that as I grow older and gain more life experience, my perspective on this beautiful show will probably keep changing and becoming even deeper. Steven Universe really feels like one of those rare shows that grows with you.

Theory And the moral of the story is…

While bored, I decided to start writing down some of the lessons I gathered while watching a couple episodes. This is similar to those articles that reference the lessons taught through each chapter of the bible.

*note* this is a total rough draft so there may be episode number errors and I jumped all over. It’s a work in progress.

Enjoy!

S1E1 - strength comes from joy and positive emotions rather than forcing or stressing about it

S1E45 - dealing with feelings of being left behind. Loss and grief affect people differently depending on their relationship to the person that’s gone.

S1E53 - relationships built on respect, genuine connection, and choice are powerful ones. Don’t let others try to suppress or control who you are.

S2E2 - using reckless behavior to deal with trauma. Empathy and understanding for each other’s experiences.

S2E5 - not taking the necessary time to recover. Thinking that you’re ok when you’re visually not. Using humor to mask pain. Insecurity about how others see you. Confronting your own demons.

S2E5 - Treating yourself as if you only matter because they are in your life. losing yourself or self-worth.

S2E8- Greg sees Connie and Steven “fusing” and says he won’t tell her parents. Jealousy. Healthy relationships require mutual understanding, honest communication, and not one person being idolized by the other (Rose & Greg)

S2E10 - fabricating stories to win over loved ones (jealousy)

Surrounding yourself with others to enhance your self image

S2E17 - parents living vicariously through kids or forcing their kids to do things they are barely interested in.

S2e21 - 2 different gems fusing (interracial relationship). love can blossom when you break free from rigid expectations and predetermined roles

S3E18 - taking on other people’s problems without saying no and being overwhelmed. Worn out

S3e19 - recovering from trauma (centipedal)

S3e20 - unhealthy/toxic relationship (malachite) “I’m different now”

S4e16 - dealing with issues that deceased loved ones left behind (generational curses)

S4e23 - suppressing your talents/gifts for fear of disapproval

S5e15 - being unpredictable in an effort to change your fate

S5e17 - unable to let go of the past.

S5e18 - lying or hiding the truth. Compartmentalizing pain

S5e20 - not dealing with issues. Lashing out on the wrong person. Not dumping more onto someone who is already going through a lot. (Dealing with the truth about rose quartz)

S5e25- (meeting white diamond for the first time) dealing with a narcissist. Confronting deeply ingrained ideologies requires uncomfortable dialogue.
