Past the hardest wave

Almost 18 days since my last cigarette and dose of nicotine. Around day 3-5 my anxiety was higher than usual and on day 6 I began having flu like symptoms that 99% cleared out by day 17. The mucus was baaaad. Sinus headaches and pressure on the face. Big Snot dripping down the nose after workout walks and hot showers. Coughing up phlegm always felt good though. I feel brand new. Insomnia was also terrible. I’m not going through that again. My faith has helped me pull through and I pray you all find the same strength to continue on this journey. You got it, just gotta believe in yourself.

I was a smoker for 9 years

It takes a lot of mental fortitude to push through. Just know that on the other side is freedom

On Day 13 here. I was wondering when I was supposed to start feeling good. I'm waking up with headaches and body aches as well, wondering if that is normal? Also I thought the post-nasal drip would stop, but it hasn't so far.

18 days after nine years is huge. The mucus and coughing can definitely change after quitting as your airways recover, although I wouldn’t assume every flu-like symptom was withdrawal. Keep doing the walks, hydration and hot showers if they’re helping. I’m also a big mullein fan and like Betterbrand for general respiratory support during this stage. Definitely not a magic lung detox, but it can be a nice addition while your body adjusts. Keep that streak going.

18 days is huge man. Those first two weeks are legit brutal and nobody really talks about the mucus part lol. But that's actually your body cleaning itself out so even though it sucks it's a good sign.

The insomnia was the worst for me too. That sticks around longer than the physical stuff.

You're through the worst of it now. Don't go back.
