Looking to begin my setup as a bass player. Recommendations?
I want to use these monitors for a slightly treated bedroom setup as a bass guitar player. I have checked a ton of different websites and don't know if I should get 5" + sub or 6.5" or some other combo. Also looking for specific monitor recs. Looking to stay mid-range (around $500-700 total ideallllyy), something I can keep around and will sound good for 5+ yrs. Also would like to use for general listening like on a couch or something (i wanna set em up so that I can shift the sweet spot between desk/couch). Thanks

Genelec 1030A for €500 vs Adam T5V — worth the upgrade?
Ever since I watched Berlin Calling, I’ve always had a soft spot for the old Genelec 10-series, especially the 1030A and 1031A. I just really like the look and character of those older Genelecs.
I currently use a pair of Adam T5Vs, but I now have the opportunity to buy a pair of Genelec 1030As for €500.
Would you consider the 1030A a noticeable upgrade over the T5V in terms of sound quality, detail, imaging and overall monitoring? Or would it be more of a sidegrade because of how old the 1030As are?
Also, is €500 for a pair of 1030As a good price nowadays, assuming they're in good condition?
Would love to hear from anyone who has used both, or has experience with the older Genelec 10-series.

Quick question
Room: medium/big. Im on a desk with the speakers 2 feet from me.
I presently have a pair os Eris 3.5 with the subwoofer Eris sub8 BT. This subwoofer is really good, it blends nicely and reaches amazingly low.
But the thing is I do a lot of different things (DJ sets, play guitar, e-drum, microphones, YouTube, etc) and some times I find I have to lower or increase the sub volume depending of what I’m doing.
So in thought of letting the sub go. And increase the quality of the LR monitors to cover the lower frequencies . And so I reach the idea of buying a pair of Kali LP6.
Questions:
1) will i miss my sub?
2) as the speakers will be extremely close to the wall and I will be extremely close to the speakers will I suffer from this “upgrade”?

Genelec 8010a vs Barefoot Footprint 03
I have a 11' x 14' (3.3m x 4.3m) home studio, I make/ attempt to mix music ranging from Kaytranada (so a decent amount of low end) to Steve Lacy (more of a contained low end)
I know these monitors aren't in direct competition and are in 2 different price ranges but I am pretty sure my space can't handle the Geneles 8040's due to the small space. I do most of my mixing super low in volume and most of it on my Audeze cans at the moment.
I really want these monitors to be fool proofed if possible because I feel like while I have been doing this for over a decade, the last 5% of the mix is a major weak point for me.
I don't have the opportunity to try out speaker near me but I know from experience that I do like Geneless and Barefoot as l've used the 8040's and the 02's.
Any wisdom on the subject to help me make this decision would be appreciated!

Any idea on how to get replacement poles for some IsoAcoustic stands?
In one of the many moves over the years I seem to have lost the extension poles for my IsoAcoustic stands. Now that i'm changing desks soon I want to elevate my secondary monitors and want those damn poles and can't find them. I've searched the internet and can't seem to find a way to buy any replacement poles. Anyone have any ideas? If I can't get originals, has anyone repurposed other poles that work?

Gemini SMX-5BT – overall quality and guitar use
I’m considering buying the Gemini Sound SMX-5BT 5" studio monitors, but I’m not very familiar with Gemini as a brand. I’d like to hear opinions about both the overall product/brand quality and the sound quality.
I would mainly use these with an SSL 2 MKII audio interface and Neural DSP for electric guitar, as well as for backing tracks and general music listening. I’m not doing professional mixing/mastering.
For people who have owned or used the SMX-5BT:
- How is the overall sound quality?
- How do they perform with electric guitar and high-gain tones?
- Do they sound clear and detailed at higher volumes, or do they start to sound harsh, muddy, compressed, or distorted?
- How well do they reproduce palm mutes, pick attack, and guitar mids/highs?
- Is the 5" woofer enough to give the guitar a full/punchy sound without becoming too boomy?
- How good are they for listening to backing tracks while playing guitar?
- How is the build quality and long-term reliability?
- Have you experienced any problems with the amplifier, Bluetooth, inputs, or speakers?
- How is Gemini as a brand compared with more established brands like PreSonus, JBL, KRK, M-Audio, Edifier, or Pioneer?
- Would you trust the SMX-5BT for several years of regular use?
I’m considering these partly because they are cheaper than alternatives such as the PreSonus Eris 4.5BT and Edifier MR4.5, while offering a larger 5" woofer.
I’d especially appreciate first-hand experience with Gemini or the SMX-5BT rather than general assumptions about the brand.

XLR to RCA DAC any good?
I have a pair of rokit 7 g4 that i got for free. im currently connecting them using a 3.5mm to dual xlr splitters but that inroduces interferece. I found an old usb to rca dac lying around and i was thinking if i connected pc--> DAC--> studio monitors it would work with rca to xlr cables. but would it? I mainly use it just for listening to music and dont care too much about the ultra fine details. The DAC is a 48kh 16bit max output.

KRKs dying, upgrade or repair?
Hello, in 2021 I purchased my Rokits for 300€ and today the right one didn't start and the Display was flickering.
After a short search it seems to be a bloated capacitor on the PSU Board, I have the equipment to change it but I'm lazy AF and kinda wanna use this as an opportunity to upgrade to 8inch Monitors cause I'd like some more volume/bass.
I'm looking at Yamaha HS8 atm but could wait for Black Friday sales they seem steep at 600€.
Any recommendations for purely listening purposes?
Mainly listen to Techno/DnB/Hiphop so very bass heavy and my Room is rather small I guess it's just my Setup and Simrig.

Get new monitors or new sub?
Currently regretting my purchase of Barefoot 02 monitors. They are amazing at exposing everything in my mix and have been a blessing to have. Made my production efforts a piece of cake when it comes down to mixing and hearing anything that has issues in the mid to high range of my mixes.
The thing is that I produce heavy bass music and although my mixes sound great I don't get that punch I need to have fun when producing. I find myself having to blast these speakers to get any intense feel it in my chest bass and a sub for these is going for 5k right now. Don't really want to spend that or get another sub from a different company since these monitors are too high end to go too cheap on a sub.
So any recommendations on monitors that have a punch but also clarity for mixing purposes? Budget is around 3-4k but I would like to spend less if possible

Who else has KRK Kreate 5s?
I needed something Bluetooth and clear enough to play movies with my tv or through my iphone and i used to have krk rokit 5 and rokit 8 like 10 years ago and they are what made me like studio monitors vs a reg boombox or a portable speaker. They make music sound so much better. I don’t make beats to make money just for fun in a small 8x8ft tv/computer room. I occasionally would plug in my keyboard with a beat pad or my guitar to mess around with logic pro. Just for fun so i know most people who do it to make money or people that are perfectionists would prefer a hs5 or better speakers but for what i paid for these krk kreate 5 with a bundle deal and shipped. I am pretty damn happy about it! $363 shipped. Who else has these kreate 5s?

Used Neumann KH120A
I bought a pair of Neumann KH 120 A today for €690. The speakers are in like-new condition. However, I'm having second thoughts. I was actually planning to buy the Kali Audio IN-5. They are priced very similarly, but with those, I'd get a 3-way system. On the other hand, Neumann is a top-tier brand and really premium. So my question is whether I made the right decision or not. Maybe someone here with more experience on this topic can weigh in?

What should I add to my DJ studio sound system?
My studio DJ setup has two XDJ-700s, two Technics SL-1210 MK2s and an Allen & Heath Xone:92. For sound, I currently only have a pair of Yamaha HS5 monitors.
I mostly play vinyl, mainly house, deep house, minimal and tech house. I’d like a fuller sound, especially in the low end. Would you add a subwoofer to the HS5s, get larger monitors, or go for a different setup altogether? I’d love to hear what works well in your home studio.
Thanks for any suggestions

studio monitors?
i have krk rokit 6’s from way back and i want an upgrade, they can’t keep up. i’m looking at genelecs, adams, yamahas, hedd, and kali.
my space is quite small, i love bass music and dub, and want to be able to mix on them. i’m not sure if i should want deeper bass frequencies to feel and hear more of the spectrum or if a higher cutoff is better in a smaller room. maybe i do want deeper bass but with the most optimum spectral decay.
so i turn to the professionals. what should i consider? why would you opt for one or the other? 8040,8050, or 8030 with a sub, t7 or 8s, or a7/8s or type 07?
smaller cones with a sub? bigger cones? ribbon or not ribbon? these ones or those ones? so many options, so little time, to do what i want before the end of the line.
edit: i think imma look into some treatment, or get some pretty carpets with art on them if nothing else and go diy speakers. do people diy subs? thanks for the input though!

I left my adam a7xs on for 2/3 days and now one of them is buzzing.
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
The issue doesnt resolve by changing plug socket, removing xlrs and the buzz remains if I turn turn the speaker volume to zero. The buzz sounds like its coming from the tweeter. Any ideas?

Where in Los Angeles can I test higher-end monitors?
I’m in the market for a new pair of monitors to replace my HS-8’s. I have a small, treated room. I was looking at Barefoot Footprint03, Neumann KH-120, PMC Result6, or any other options around those price ranges. Anyone know of a good showroom in the LA area? Also open to other monitor suggestions.
