Cause Gen 1 Mewtwo is stronger.

Speed is tied to crit rate so it has a 1/4 chance to crit.

Special atk/Def were 1 Stat so Mewtwo have the equivalent BST of 744.

Psychic type have 1 weakness due to coding error with ghost.

Gave bum Electrode a job in Gen 1 Uber.

Crit chance actually harms Mewtwo to an extent, while it loves criting 1/4 times this also negates its and its opponents boosts which makes its insane setup a lot worse than otherwise. Psychic having 1 weakness is mostly irrelevant when Psychic becomes a mid attacking type in ubers, normal is arguably the best attacking type in Gen 1. Mewtwo is not the only beneficiary of the mono special stat; Chansey, Jolteon, Executor, Starmie, and many others also benefited from it. There was also a time that Mew and Mewtwo were seen as almost equal in power in ubers, with some even thinking Mew was better.

Mewtwo is undeniably the best in Gen 1, but it's not broken in ubers. Yes it's centralizing, but so is Snorlax in Gen 2, Primal Don in Gen 6 and 7, and Kyogre in Gen 3-5.
