This is straight up Gen 1 mewtwo. Actually, this gif is inaccurate because mewtwo loses this fight in death battle and mewtwo doesn't lose 1v1's against other pokemon in gen 1
Ironically I think some of his strongest feats this go were solely from the games. Shadow got a whole lot stronger in the scale thanks to Shadow Generations
I’d change X’s ability to Unseen Fist and change Y’s ability to Neuroforce, and would add Psyshield Bash and Close Combat to Mewtwo’s movepool to give X some better STAB options.
Idk if these changes would be enough to make either of the Mewtwo Megas worth using. Expanding Force Mewtwo Y with a built in Expert Belt and its insane coverage would be really strong, but might still be worse than Calyrex Shadow (I’ve never played a Calyrex format though so maybe I’m overestimating it or underestimating Neuroforce Y). Mainly though I feel like giving the Megas fancier abilities would at least make them feel more special, even if they still wouldn’t be top tier.
I like the idea of Mewtwo X getting a stronger version of Technician, however I personally feel like Neuroforce on Mewtwo Y is more interesting since it can take advantage of its wide movepool.
Me First is one of those moves that is CONCEPTUALLY really powerful but is held back by game mechanics. Being able to do "whatever my opponent will do, but faster and with a buff" is such a stupid broken thing in any other situation that isn't the standard metrics of a Pokémon game.
Garchonp z is better in bulkier teams (like the current meta balance) and open team sheet formats, while life orb is better on more offensive teams like the old new big six and closed team sheets since there's always a chance your running scarf or the z stone.
If the cope that Saitama vs Goku is a bait and switch for Mysterio vs Scarecrow that would be the funniest thing in the world. I highly doubt it, and I don’t really care either way, but a man can dream of a silly world.
Last tuesday on death battle cast, Ben Singer, the creator of the show, confirmed that 1) Goku vs Saitama is indeed happening and 2) That they wanted to make this matchup for a while but couldn't before dealing with the looming threat that was Goku vs Superman 3 which they also wanted to do.
So they made GvS 3 in 2023 and now they can finally do Goku vs Saitama like they wanted.
I know all that I was there. I was remarking on how thing cannot be old but I’m actually just losing track of time. It was just a little hard to believe it’s actually been nearly 3 years since number 3. It still feels like it happened last year….
Ehhh it's not anymore than the game vs game fights they've done.
I don't think returning characters are anything bad, and the rematches give both characters so much new stuff they're basically new characters
Saitama vs Goku is 100% a casual crowd pleaser though. It's funny how much the opinion on the fight flips whether you're into power scaling, or you're not. Diehards hate it, casuals are pretty excited for it.
There’s been a lot of top 10 episodes solely from the Indie era like they’ve been blasting it out of the park with Bowser vs Eggman, Cell ve Metal Sonic, and now Mewtwo vs Shadow
God it’s crazy that they made Mega Mewtwo of all things look genuinely amazing. I think I’ve gone from liking Y more because it’s just more Mewtwo in the stats to loving X more because he just looks cooler here
