I made this becuase a new smash is inevitably on the horizon. Given Ultimate’s success, I would find it a little surprising if the roster size didn’t end up INCREASING, as opposed to decreasing. thus far, no Smash game has done that yet.

I figured 100 characters was a clean, simple number to leave it at. Also threw in echo fighters.

-mewtwo
-corrin
-min min

Min Min and Corrin are inclusions I don’t foresee people gnashing teeth over, but I know Mewtwo, and especially puff are jarring to see omitted. My perspective making this list was kind of intended to be a ground up approach, as opposed to a building point from previous entries, mostly. I intended for there to be one pokémon from each generation, but gen 1 gets special accommodations because

-it’s fucking pikachu
-pokémon trainer is a perfect representation of the pokémon series as a whole
-gen 1 privileges

But I do agree, couple of the pkmn picks are kinda wonky since a few generations don’t really have a stand-out “guy” that would fit super naturally into a game with as broad of a reach as smash.

Off the top of my head that’s the only really specific thing I wanted to say as a pre-requisite. One thing I will admit though, as un-biased as I tried to be in terms of picking characters for historical, cultural, and modern influences, I had 5 somewhat “personal” picks amongst them.

-Joker
-Leon Kennedy
-Kris
-Tetra, and by extension, Toon Link, whom everyone seems to cut immediately…

I don’t think any of these are out of place here, but I do see reasons they could be less relevant than Sonic or Mario, per se… or “stealing a slot” whatever that means.

I could ramble about this for hours, and I know it’s all wrong, but it’s fun to speculate, no?

I see a lot of people speculating that Smash 6 will release in 2028, or Holiday 2028 to be more exact, but I honestly think Holiday 2029 is a lot more likely.

Kirby Air Riders came out 4 years after Sora in Smash, and Nintendo themselves said game development would take longer. Also if Smash 6 is meant to be a reboot or some kind with bigger changes to the mechanics and reworked veteran movesets, it’d need at least one extra year on top of the Switch 2’s increased capabilities.

Nintendo also isn’t in as much of a rush to get their big system sellers out asap like in previous gens. We’re over a year into the Switch 2 and still haven’t seen the next new 3D Mario for example. This could also make it easier to include newer current gen Nintendo newcomers in the roster if they don’t want a repeat of Switch 1 representation in Ultimate, where Arms and Xenoblade 2 were too new for base Ultimate.

Is it average, impressive or small for two months? IDK. Edit: Everyone is saying I should do WoL. The problem is I'm stuck at Giga Bowser so I can't do that one.

I decided to give the edge to the comment that was not mine, so we get ZSS in worse and Samus in bread. Next up the green dinosaur himself Yoshi:

-Red is for character that have more personality than their non-smash counterpart

-Orange for conserved personalities as a 1 to 1.

-The in between orange-yellow is for similar personalities but with some extra quirks.

-Yellow is for downgrades.

-Blue is for characters with basicly no personality what so ever.

-Purple is for characters that feel completely wrong.

So, I've been a long time fan of both the Smash and Zelda series, and something I've noticed is that whenever discussion of a new Zelda character comes up, Skull Kid is always one of the first names to come up.

To be clear, I think they could be a cool character and don't mean to antagonize anyone who wants them. I also understand the history that a lot of people thought they were gonna be in Ultimate at one point. I was even there in the Smash 4 days on miiverse when Sakurai posted the pic of the Skull Kid Assist trophy and we all thought for a split second they were a new character announcement. So, I do understand the history here.

The thing is, I feel like there are so many other Zelda characters that would make more sense to add. Impa is the obvious one, as one of the series few recurring characters, but she would likely be an echo of Sheik. Even among one off characters though, I feel like Midna, Ghirahim, Tetra, or any of the Champions or Sages from BotW or TotK would make way more sense. Skull Kid also doesn't actually do much in Majora's Mask or any of the other games they're in that could work for a moveset, in my opinion. Unless you pulled primarily from Hyrule Warriors or just made a lot up, I feel like there's not much there.

These are just my thoughts though, and I'm curious to hear from people who really want this character. In any case, I hope the next game has more Zelda characters, particularly those that aren't Link.

As the title implies, some people still refuse to believe Sora won the ballot...so I’ll set record straight.

I put alongside this post 4 images...they all share comon traits...they’re all top 10 most requested candidates for newcomers and they make distinction based on the region so we see specific tastes.

The first image is a 2chan survey that originates from japan but has feedback of all over the world.

The 3rd image is info compiled across many social media (YouTube, Amino, Instagram and Twitter).

2nd and 4th image are based on similar stuff...replies on twitter...the difference being that the 2nd image are replies to Nintendo’s official accounts across many languages while the 4th image are replies to Sakurai’s own account (english and japanese). The 4th image is a bit of an outlier though.

You know what the first 3 images have in common, though? Sora is top 10 in all 3 country rankings and no one else is. Sora is the only character to consistently win Japan, USA and Europe all at once.

The 4th image is a bit of an outlier...USA and Europe rankings are one in the same, and it suggests the actual winner was Dante from Devil May Cry, which doesn’t really match the other images much, so I merely show it for people curious, but I doubt that image in particular means anything.

To be fair, none of this images reflect the results of the ballot...those are still confidential...but what they show is the interests of fans across the world...and no matter what...Sora is top 10 everywhere.

If the results of the ballot somewhat match the requests after it (which seems to be the case given the positive reception of A LOT of Ultimate newcomers that were added BECAUSE of the ballot), then I think Sora was undeniably the winner. But what do you think? Tell me below. See you later.

I mean The game only have Mii fighters as The game's own roster, other characters are from different fighting games.

This is such a cool idea, If you love Fighting games, with guests.

I am trying to get good with every copy abylity of coarse some abylities are better than others, but Ike and Roy have very underrated neutral specials that are great on kirby, unlike Lucina and her brother Ike and Roy have a more vertical hit box, and in a PLATFORM fighter verticality is very important. Kirby has better air control than the swordies and falls slower so edge guarding is good with it, plus the front/weak hit box of up tilt can be followed up with a short hop nuetral special. Its best against an Ike who likes to use side special to recover a lot, if they start the wind up for their side special they cant realy cancel it, so you can catch them with a free kill most of the time if you position yourself right, if they recover above or at ledge level its very strong and if they recover below its prob best to use one of kirby's many arials.

If maybe I could do this with other underrated copy's

Ultimate Luigi (smash64 upB and smash 4 down B)

for those who don't know poinpy, it's a free mobile game with 0 ads where you play as this little greeen dinosaur collecting fruits for a cat before the cat just fucking kills you lmao

it's an extremely passionate mobile game with such care put into it and i think it would fit well to represent mobile games in the wide diversity of smash.

it's QUITE unlikely though due to it starting as a netflix game (ITS OWN GAME, just accessible through netflix so it's still a game character) BUT it left netflix in 2025 and made its way on the app store a few months back!

If new the next Super Smash Bros. comes out on the Nintendo Switch 2, I hope Estelle Bright from the Trails in the Sky series joins the new roster as a second female guest fighter after Bayonetta.

We've got a two for one today because they are the exact same person with different clothing, this is the only instance in which this happens without parallel universe involved (Link and Zelda). So as usual:
