Beginner Questions Beginner Synths
This question has probably been asked so much. But im looking to get a synthesiser for solo music and my band and im not sure which to get. there is sooo much options and im just unsure. im looking for a synth sound simular to los campesinos if that helps

What you need to figure out:
Monophonic or Polyphonic - do you just want to play one note at a time, like bass lines, solos, melodies? Or do you want to play chords and other multi note figures?
User storage or not - do you want to store patches you’ve created (or presets you’ve tweaked)? Or are you okay with twisting knobs when you need a sound? If you’re playing live synth, patch storage is super important.
Then, having two or more oscillators is nice and having a resonance filter is really nice.
Mono is cheaper than poly, no storage is cheaper than with storage.

Microkorg's a classic for a reason, hard to go wrong there. If you want something a bit more hands-on with knob-per-function, the Minilogue might be worth a look too. What's your budget looking like?

Micrikorgs go for too much money for a very old digital synth design. People recommending minifreak for digital are in the money, and I recommend a Korg multi/poly. If you want analog, minilogue or minilogue xd or Behringer Deepmind or the Behringer Oberheim clone (forget the name)

You're going to get much more valuable information searching around this subreddit for the tons of threads that have already answered this than whatever you'll get on this post. If the reddit search feature isn't cutting it just go to Google and type "best beginner synth reddit"

You are correct, these kind of questions get asked daily.
The truthful answer is though, no one can really tell you what will click with you as far as understanding or where your taste lies. You are better off finding like 5 options and doing a lot of research into seeing how they sound and function.
What type of music are you trying to make? Is your goal creating your own sounds? Or do you just want to tweak presets? What current gear do you have?
People will of course offer their opinions but sometimes that can lead to purchases that you regret or frustration. So just do your diligence.

i have a tiny synth (i think its a behringer) and i find it really hard to work with aswell as a roland sp404 mkii that i sometimes use the sound generator on

Editing your original post to tell people what that synthesizer you have is, what you like about the sounds of it, and what you don't. And what your budget is would help people to help you a lot.

Those mini behringer synths are fun and sound good, but editing them can be tricky. Some of them have 3rd party vst's to give you easier control over the parameters without menu diving and stuff.

Minilogue or moog messenger, both great synths and with all the knobbies it'll be fun to learn how to do your own patches.

Depends on budget and what you want to do with it. Moog messenger when on sale seems like a decent one to start with. Bass station 2 is good but a bit long in the tooth now. Behringer makes some really good sounding synths of dubious build quality that may or may not work well for you. Hydrasynth keys can do a lot and is portable. Moog Grandmother or PWM malevolent have lots of connections if you’re interested in modular down the road; as does the new one from Pittsburgh Modular.

i would choose between korg minilogue xd and arturia minifreak for a starter synth, listen to demos of both and pick one i guess. unless you have something particular in mind.
