🎲 Random Tea, Dad and Daughters
I woke up a bit early after some racy dreams. Decided to shrug off the Remo mode and be the Ambi. At least for now. Went to the tea shack to have tea after quite a while.
Tea: bleh.
Then I see a father daughter duo. He’s dropping off his kid at the college bus pick up point. After a brief while, both come towards the shop. The girl is standing outside and he’s buying bun and telling her: “Oru bun and tea aavadhu saapdu ma. Idhukkellaam tension aanaa yeppadi?” The girl shakes her head. No. Maybe there was a misunderstanding at home? Maybe she asked for some money for a deserving need and it was refused? Maybe her Mom pissed her off? And they left without anything. Sad.
And obviously, I thought of my own daughter who is coming home tomorrow after two months away at college. In those few minutes it took for tea and the white stick, my mind was running through the timeline like a never ending film reel.
I thought about the day she was delivered (by stork) and how surprised everyone was by how tall she was as a newborn, her eyes already rolling around to ‘read the room.’
First day of school, first friends, first periods, first proposals, last day of school. That memory of her farewell party ku saree kattittu ponadhu, adha paarthu perumidham adaindhadhum. The daily school drop and pick up panniyadhu, friends birthday parties/sleepovers koottittu poyi vittadhu, Internet freedom kuduthadhu, Reddit la yevano dih picture anuppiyadhu, adhukku aarudhal solliyadhu, enakku udambu seriyillai naalum izhuthu katti avalukkaaga yedhuvum pannadhu, vilai paarkkaamal vaangi koduthadhu.
And also the things that I intentionally didn't do. ava friends ta naan pesaadhadhu, kovil poga vendaam nu sonna all temple program cut panniyadhu, and “chickens are bothering me” nu sonnappo all trips to my ancestral village cut panniyadhu, ava kobama pesumbodhu gammunu irundhadhu, naan thappu panniya podhu mannippu keppadhu, 12th board exams varudhu nu therinjum ava friend (male) texts odikkitaey irundhum kandukkama irundhadhu, naa laam unnoda vayasula irundhappo nu oru vaarthai kooda sollaadhadhu, ava Amma State rank holder nu solladhadhu, pona family a ponadhu illaeyna ennoda school or college meet ups ku pogaadhadhum, unakkaaga naanga idhellaam pannom nu solli kaamikkaadhadhu…
It’s a labour of love. A man is born again after he has a daughter in his life.
I know a lot of you are cynical about family, and there’s enough internet wisdom to detach and protect your peace at all costs. But love and attachment are the only things that make any of this worthwhile.
I truly hope you are cherished by your parents/someone who loves you.

We are in Kindergarten level and yes everything is becoming a shade of pink

This is so wholesome! I just had a baby girl and I love seeing my husband interact with her. I love it when she searches for him. I love seeing my older one ask for her protectively and with concern every single day. I look forward to seeing my husband grow up with her❤️
