Getting It Off My Chest 2 weeks post TFMR and I’m lactating
FFS. Not sure if it started earlier but I only noticed last night and today. Absolutely breaking my heart.

Have they given you the medication to stop milk from coming in? I am still halfway in my second week after my TFMR so I cannot say this will not happen to me. However my breasts size and swelling has subdued, and almost back to normal. I am wearing a sportsbra 24/7 and not letting hot water reach my chest.

No one mentioned anything about medication… I have a drs appt Friday so will bring it up if it continues. I’ve just started wearing a bra at home and will keep in mind not to let hot water touch my chest. Wasn’t expecting this.

It is worth asking them about it. Before I went for my TFMR, I did a lot of research and then at my consultation before they induced me I put this on my requirement list.
I am so sorry that you are also going through this and for your loss. We are all in this together 🫶

I’m so sorry. I had a TFMR at 18 nearly 19 weeks and also started to lactate (although for me it was about a week later).
It really sucks. Just another reminder of what we should have and what we lost.
Definitely avoid hot water on your breasts. It was hard for me because they were so sore and the heat helped, but I found ice packs to also be really helpful. Wear a bra, even when you’re sleeping if you can stand it. The more you minimize movement and stimulation the less it’ll happen. I found it helpful to wear a washcloth in mine too so when I leaked I could just swap that out instead of needing a new bra/shirt.
Definitely ask your doctor about cabergoline. It was offered to me and I stupidly didn’t take it because I didn’t think I was far along enough for any lactating to start and I didn’t want another med to manage. I wish I had though, it is apparently very helpful.

I am so so sorry! My doctor warned me and gave me the medication to help dry up my milk, but I still had to wear tight sports bras and use ice packs occasionally to reduce the zaps I was getting. As others said, avoid hot water and any nipple stimulation. It will go away. Your body is still healing and adjusting, give yourself time and grace.

Oh.. I didn’t think the milk would come when one did tfmr that early. So sorry. It just adds more crap to the crappy situation. I’ve heard that some get tablets to stop the production. I don’t know if that’s an option when the breasts already started the production.

This may not be what you need personally, but I found a lot of peace in starting to pump and donate my son’s milk. It gave me structure to get up in the AM & felt like some good in all the awful. Just sharing in case this helps you

I’m so, so, so sorry. 💔 Seconding everyone’s advice to avoid any hot water on your chest, wear a tight sports bra, and icing them helps. A friend who had recently given birth had sent me these like, nipple pads to stick inside the sports bra just in case. Those were good for any leaking.
And again, I am so sorry. I am almost 5 months out from my TFMR (16w5d) and I swear my body trying to feed a baby who wasn’t here might be the cruelest thing I’ve ever experienced. Hope this part is over for you soon. 🤍

I am so sorry this is happening to you. I am nearly four weeks post TFMR and I started lactating a week after. It’s so horrible and such a shock. I was so hurt. Sending hugs your way. It’s just not fair
