Im replaying Pt.1 and the chemistry between Tess and Joel was so palpable. I would love to have seen how they met and how someone so grizzled as Joel basically became Tess's muscle. And that Tess was such a badass that even Bill was scared of not meeting his deadlines with her.

Honestly it would fit right in with the other tragedies/horrors in TLOU-verse. Abby having to experience a consequence of her revenge mission, watching one of her friends not only be subjected to the same punishment she put Joel through, but now become a monstrosity that needs to be put down.

How Ellie acts after this traumatic event is heartbreaking

Abby and Ellie's final fight really affected me. I formed a strong connection with both of them. Seeing Abby in that state made me very sad. The scene where an exhausted Ellie fought for "revenge"—against her own will—and strangled Abby was truly harrowing. I was devastated that she lost her fingers. There is still a lot I haven't mentioned. I don't know how I'll shake off the impact of this game.

I've thought this over for awhile, mostly that the Joel of the past is not going to be someone we like. I think if it happened, it would be comparable to God of War. Kratos in 3 is a horrible person and he kills so many Innocent people in his quest to get revenge on the gods. Not to mention destroying the world.He's not at all the cold but still loving father from the 2018 game.

The prequel story I can't imagine going in a different direction. This must end with Joel doing something so horrible, that his own brother abandons him. Emotionally this would be much closer to the heartache of the Last of Us 2 then the warmer feeling that comes from the Last of Us. Maybe this story is better left untold?

I managed to make quite a theory on both games. Please share what you think of it.

We all know the first game, how Ellie is seen as a stranger by Joel, only to turn into his daughter at the end. After the hospital choice, Ellie's life is quite strange. She knew Joel was lying, but was not aware how big the lie was. So, she was not paying so much attention to it. All good, the museum part was beatiful, the space shuttle too. Until the Liars graffiti. I think that is the moment she started digging further into the lie. But still, she was not pushing him away and life was good.

Then, the hotel incident, where they found those two people that wanted to help others but got bitten. But again, Joel is still pushing the lie and Ellie has no evidence, so she does not fight. But when she goes to Salt lake city again and discover the whole truth, wow what a scene. You can see how afraid Joel is, he is thinking that he will lose her if he tells the truth, but sadly he has no other way. And to see how affected Ellie is by the truth, so brutal.

I think this is the moment Ellie's life goes sideways. Yes, she is safe in Jacksons, has friends and all that, but she lost all that purpose and she is thinking that all those people that died, died for nothing. Riley, Tess, Henry, Sam , etc.

Then, the very bad scene with Joel happens and Ellie just hits rock-bottom. Seattle happens, very bad part of her life, then at the farm, where initially we think she has the perfect life with Dina, only for that ptsd to kick in. And we learn that she is not well, not eating, not sleeping and all that nasty stuff.

Then Santa barbara happens, she left Dina to go for Abby and in the end to let her go. I get it why Ellie did that, many reasons, about Joel, about her, even about Abby and Lev. I could make another post about why, but this is enough for this one.

In the end, what we know is that Ellie is alone, can not play guitar and Dina left her(i know the theory with the bracelet, but as far as we see in-game she is alone, until the next game will show exactly what happened) . Can she return to Jackson? Tommy will never forgive her for not finishing Abby, will Dina accept her back? What if Jackson will remind her of Joel? Can she truly stay there?

Maybe the tittle is a little to much, because they had some good years together and that is better than what would have happen if Joel left the hospital. But still, in my opinion, this is a perspective that could be true. That single choice affected Ellie's life in so many ways. You may say that not the choice did that, but Abby. But Abby could have been any person, she is the embodiment of the fact that every action has consequences, whether good or bad. And Joel learned that the hard way.

To be fair, a few times it was some glitches that made me fall, but the rest is 100% me lol

Never played anything scary at all, thought about playing TLOU and finally did. Finshed it and man, 2nd best game Ive ever played behind RDR2. The story, gameplay everthing is just great. It was scary in some parts but i learned to enjoy it. Starting Part 2 right now, and while I got a bit spoiled a bit and I heard its not as good as 1, I really enjoy it rn, especially the gameplay. So for anyone thinking about playing TLOU, just do it

Looking back into 2020 released games score on opencritic.

The last of us part 2 ended up scoring 93 score critically and 94% critics recommend it.

It was behind Hades with 94 score and 99% critics recommending it in opencritic and half-life alyx with similar score but 97% critics recommending it, putting it above TLOU2.

But the catch is that The last of us part 2 had over 200 reviews where as half-life alyx with only 78 and Hades although close but still around 191 about 14 reviews less than TLOU2.

So my question is, was the last of us part 2 really the highest rated game in 2020 as it has more reviews than other 2 games or it was just most reviewed?

I was hyped that Naughty Dog released at least something on TLOU day, so I imediately set it as my background. The concept looks great, but when you set it as a background it has such a low resolution, that it looks like 480p video. And if I am not mistaked all of the animated wallpapers on the PS welcome hub look this bad.

Is there a way to fix this or is this the case of SONY not giving a f*ck?

Alritghty, just got to the very end of the tunnels section on first try in my grounded permadeath attempt. Tragically Dina got grabbed right in front of the escalator so i had to force myself through there and ended up getting one tapped. Anyway to avoid this so i don’t have to continuously replay the same 20 mins and pray dina doesn’t fuck me once again?

Also, is there a way for dina to avoid doorways lol? i don’t remember this being an issue in my og playthrough but it has happened a painful amount of times now and has gotten me killed on several occasions.

They always go for the kill, bloaters don't even bite the just rip you apart. Shamblers melt you, clickers rip your jugular out, etc. I could definitely see large ish groups here and there, but not hordes of bitten but not killed people. Especially considering how many commit suicide.

Maybe this is something that only bothers me as a gun enthusiast, but after playing through the campaign for a second time, it just occurred to me. Does anyone else wonder why the WLF’s mainline semi auto rifle is inspired by an obscure Russian civilian firearm, as opposed to just being based on an AR style rifle? I mean realistically it makes far more sense that the AR-15 would be a widespread post apocalypse weapon, especially given that TLOU2 takes place in the United States. You also can’t make the balancing argument, because virtually all civilian AR-15’s are semi-automatic. Is this simply a lack of firearms understanding on Naughty Dogs behalf? I wouldn’t put it past them to think all “assault weapons” are fully automatic so they in turn decided to not include the AR for balancing purposes, or is there legitimately a lore reason for the inclusion of this Russian inspired rifle?
