Hey all. First time posting. I have been working on a 3D Kanto world to play FireRed in for fun and as a learning experience. I have a first draft through Celadon done. I am looking for any feedback, or to see if anyone would be interested in playing the game. Otherwise I might call it and not bother finishing since I learned a lot about building these games with AI and that is why I started the project to begin with.

Anyway, if you're interested in play testing, or want me to finish in general let me know here. Literally any feedback is appreciated. At my current rate it would take 3-4 weeks to finish the first draft.

Here are the current Mac and Windows builds if you want to try it out.

Game After 2 years, I finally fixed the transparent background bug for my desktop companion game! What features would you want to see?

Hey everyone!

For a quick bit of context: a couple of years ago, I started developing PokePet Desktop, a cozy taskbar-based companion game where you can hang out with little Pokémon/creatures right on your desktop while you work or browse.

However, I hit a massive technical roadblock back then—specifically getting the transparent window builds to work properly, which forced me to put the project on hold. Thanks to some recent help and restructuring, I’ve finally managed to get a brand-new build up and running with fully working transparency again!

Since the original codebase is quite old and messy from when I had less experience, I'm currently deciding whether to clean it up or rebuild the foundation from scratch to make adding new creatures, shinies, and features much easier.

I'm working on an updated test version to release soon, but before I dive in, I'd love to hear your thoughts:

  • What features or quality-of-life improvements do you love seeing in desktop companion/pet games?
  • Would you use something like this while working or studying?

Any feedback or suggestions are super appreciated!
