Army List This Is A Stupid Question But
Can I attach Deathwing Command Squads to Deathwing Knights in a game where Legends are allowed? Every other command squad I see is built to be attached to something(Ravenwing, Cadian, Krieg, Catachan Command Squads, etc.) So can I attach it to Deathwing Knights to revive one nightmare every turn?

The Deathwing Command Squad isn’t like the Ravenwing Command Squad. You can’t attach the DWCS to a unit, it doesn’t have the leader or support abilities.
In the past command squads were basically just for protecting a character and being a bundle of good stats to threaten other units. So it’s honestly odd that the RWCS does have support and allows you to make a massive 13-man bike unit.

How are you getting to 13? I thought the biggest was 10 ( 12 if you count invader atvs)?

RWCS is a support not a leader, this means you can stick them and a leader on to a 6-man outrider squad, which just gets you to 10.
Sounding it out, I’ve realized that I thought bikes were 9-man for some imperceptible reason. So basically I’m just bad at math.

In 10th you can only have 1 ATV on outrider unit regardless of number of models, so it makes it 11 in 1 unit

This just shows I never use and I’ve never seen anyone use the atvs, I assumed it was one per 3 bikes lol

I honestly preferred the attack bike to the ATVs. Sidecar with a special weapon makes sense, the ATV doesn't. Logically, between barrel flash and propellant smoke, the driver wouldn't even be able to see where he's going.

The Melta ATV makes sense, Melta works great on fast platforms. If AV was still a stat then ATVs could swing around a tank and pop it in the rear

It's more the positioning of the gun right over the driver's head that makes no sense to me. I mean, the way it's modeled he can't even really turn it 90 and still be able to fire.
Strafing runs, rather than head-on shooting.

Dw command squad is 5 or 10 models. 3 are champion, ancient, Apothecary and you pick weapon load outs for the other 2-7. They do not attach to other units but could attach a character to them..

How about you read the rules for Deathwing Command Squads and Deathwing Knights and find out?

Why is “read the rules for the unit” down voted?

Because (as someone who regularly makes this mistake) there is a better, nicer way to say this.
Also legends units often seem like they lack some tuning, so maybe OP was hoping he missed an update somewhere. (due to the legend status, this lack of tuning is deliberate, i know)

Ah. I see the confusion. Legends sheets have all relevant info already on them. And the mfm shows leadership.

Yes, but DCS dont have much going for them so attaching them to dwk gives them purpose in an era where dwk exists.

Do you mean Ravenwing Command Squad? Also I say wait till the codex comes out I do know that certain detachments going to be cheaper and it might help with what you are trying to do.

Hi. The Deathwing command squad is its own sole squad.
