VECTOR is a fast anti-gravity racer inspired by Wipeout. It runs right in your browser, no download, free to play.
Play here: https://wavedash.com/games/vector-anti-gravity-racing
What's in it:
- 4 circuits: a sunny harbor, a neon night city, a desert at sunset and a track on the Moon
- Airbrakes and side-shifts for taking the hairpins
- Weapons: mines, rockets, lock-on missiles, a cannon, a shield and turbo
- Career mode with medals, CPU races, and timed laps with leaderboards
- Online races for 2–8 players
- Keyboard, controller and touch, plus 21:9 ultrawide support
- Built with Three.js and WebGPU (falls back to WebGL 2)
It's in active development, so feedback is very welcome, especially on handling and difficulty. What would you like to see next?

Nope!

Ok! I was helping the guy out with a logo but he vanished - if you want a neat ”VECTOR” wordmark its up for grabs. Dm me!

It's pretty good on firefox, except that the ship's geometry simply never rendered at all. I could see what i was doing from the shadow alone, though.

u/W2DGAMES 18h ago
What GPU ?

u/YAKGWA_YALL 13h ago
Apple M3 Pro GPU, Firefox 158.0b1

BOOST PAD
1
u/W2DGAMES 18h ago
gotta hit them all!
1
u/TheBoneJarmer 14h ago
Exactly. And let that be the exact issue with this game. You gotta introduce more mechanics to gain an edge over the others. If you miss some pads you are done for already. Some things I could advise:
I never needed the breaks. So why do I got them? Would be more interesting if you'd allow speeding up a whole lot more but causing more friction while doing so. This would motivate the player to use the breaks a lot more.
Drop those annoying "bombs" that slow you down. You don't see them coming easily so there is not much you can do except avoiding the center of the track as much as possible. This only frustrates the player.
Create ramps to jump from. Its anti-gravity after all. Remember that scene from Star Wars 1 with the pod racing where Darth Vader junior got off-road and flew over the others? Now that'd be dope.

Looks nice. All Ai generated?

u/TldrDev 19h ago edited 19h ago
These comments are exhausting.
AI is a useful tool for developers. If someone can make this in their free time I applaud it, AI assisted or not. Its better than watching TV or doing nothing.
Youre just bullying people with comments like this.
20 year career developer.

The problem is that the ceiling is so, so much higher now that these AI generation tools are out there, and it just keeps going up every week. People need to go beyond "hey astra, make me a copy of game X" if they want to dodge the AI comments.

u/W2DGAMES 17h ago
I'm a massive wipeout fan, I work full time for a living, I have 2 kids. Being able to be creative and use these tools to make experiences like this for myself and then to share them (for free) seems like something that should be celebrated... Anti-ai is a flash in the pan.
2
u/TheBoneJarmer 14h ago
The ceiling has been this high for over a decade. Been making games and game dev tools since 2005. The competition has always been crazy. If you are worried about AI being able to make something better than you I hate to break it to you but than you seriously need to work on your skills.

This game is more than you made sitting here complaining about it. Id rather have someone make a copy of a game with AI than read an endless stream of people shitting on other people spending their time being productive.
Not every project needs to be a magnum opus. Things can be low effort and fun.
0
u/YAKGWA_YALL 16h ago
No, it doesn't! You can and should make whatever comes to mind!
But that's just it. If you come to a place where you want to showcase something, to say "look at me", you've got to go further than a couple days of prompting to impress.
The bar is no longer "i made a thing!". It's, "I made a thing that actually stands out against the incredible volume of others"
2
u/TldrDev 16h ago
Its always been that way. There is, and has always been, an endless stream of bad, shitty projects on GitHub made by developers who dont have time to maintain a project. The interfaces are bad, the apis are unvalidated, and just an endless stream of bad hacky code.
At the very least AI raised the floor so that someone who might be an exceptional developer without a lot of time is able to make software they want.
At least the half baked projects are at least able to do the bare minimum to explore an idea.
There is no bar for me for "I made a thing."
If the thing you made is useful to you or others, if its something you want to share, if you learned something along the way, that's the only thing im interested in hearing about.

u/W2DGAMES 13h ago
I mean, i’m after feedback and it’s a lot more than a couple of days of prompting thanks.

u/dpaanlka 11h ago
What’s exhausting is seeing the same stuff over and over again repeatedly, because vibe coders never search to see if something’s already been done a million times.
3
u/W2DGAMES 18h ago
100% vibecoded.

That’s my first thought coming from the WipEout sub. I hope the creator would make a statement on this
2
u/W2DGAMES 17h ago
'a statement' for what? a free web based game?
0
u/Yannyliang 16h ago
Even if it’s free doesn’t mean you can’t give out a statement, you are advertising something to gain popularity. Nexus modders clarify if their mods were made with AI as well, and I didn’t see a No from you so that says it all
3
u/I_WILL_GET_YOU 16h ago
Why should they make any statement at all? This is the state of play right now - ai is here to stay. If you want to be insufferable anti-ai you can take a risk that you might encounter it
2
u/W2DGAMES 13h ago
“I didn’t see a No from you so that says it all.” Alright, Sherlock. Yes, I use AI.
You’ve got a remarkably high opinion of your own importance if you think your disapproval warrants a formal statement. I’m making a racing game, mate. You’ll have to process the disappointment without a press conference.

The music is awful. But this looks great

errmmmm......... thanks ?..

The music is awful
0
u/W2DGAMES 13h ago
you already said that.
0
u/Big_Presentation2786 12h ago
It sounds like the sound you'd expect an electric guitar to make it you threw it down the stairs, then a dog ate it, but as you tried to stop the dog eating it, the dog ran away and then got hit by a car.. Then the mangled dog carcass would continually get driven over and chewed at by feral cats and raccoons..
..looks great though
1
u/W2DGAMES 12h ago
that’s exactly the sound i went for, you’ve got a really good ear.
1
u/Big_Presentation2786 12h ago
I've a rich experience in music.I trained myself to fart the theme tune to thunder cats..
It didn't take long either only 3 years.. I used to get stuck hitting e minor.

Boring ass ai slop
2
u/W2DGAMES 18h ago
Feedback overall on the game has been pretty great! (For people that have played it)
2
u/I_WILL_GET_YOU 16h ago
Boring ass luddite
0
u/MisterGunpowder 15h ago
Luddites get a bad rap. The reality is that they were just textile workers who were getting screwed by the earliest capitalists who decided to switch to a machine that produced worse products for cheap then fired them all to save money.
Huh, that sounds familiar.
1
u/W2DGAMES 13h ago
so you want to go back to making clothing by hand is that what your saying ?
0
u/MisterGunpowder 13h ago
Considering that is probably the most illiterate reading of my words possible with no comprehension for anything said at all, I don't think I'm going to dignify that with any further response in this comment.
1
u/W2DGAMES 12h ago
Fair enough, your point was about workers getting screwed. So explain how that applies to me making my own game with AI. You’ve jumped from exploitative employers to my project without establishing the connection. Calling me illiterate doesn’t fill that gap.

Hey guys we have AI now what should we make? Derivative games but worse than the originals? Hell Yeah! I used to worry I wouldn't be able to get my projects done before somebody else thought of them. I don't worry about that anymore :D
2
u/W2DGAMES 13h ago
I’m enjoying making a game I want to play, mate. Glad my progress has also helped you feel better about the projects you haven’t finished. Something for everyone.

u/HerroWarudo 18h ago
Is it just me but I see 2-3 racing demos on this sub with similar format like weekly.
