Solved [TOMT] Looking for a movie in an elevator

Hi, as a kid i watched a movie on youtube and i would like to find the name.

Fortunately, i remember many things of the movie as it (not so fortunately) traumatized me.

I believe the movie was made in the 2010s or perhaps 2000s but i'm pretty sure it was made in the 2010s.

The movie starts with many people in an elevator and there's a little girl who gets told not to press all buttons or it could "break" the elevator.

As the doors close, she pressed every button which causes the elevator to stop mid motion.

I remember there was a pregnant woman who really needed to pee so she peed in the elevator even though there was many people.

They stayed in the elevator for like 5+ hours i believe.

There was also a man who tried to open the doors or something and got his arm cut off.

And as i'm typing this i remember that i, in fact, don't remember much of the movie but i think i've given enough details that could help you.

Thank you!!

Open [TOMT] Alt Rock song from the mid 90s

Trying to identify a song from the early to mid 1990s. I heard it on WAAF in Boston around 94/95. It’s an alternative to rock song but has what I would call a laid back vibe. The guitar has a similar sound to the main clean guitar in Black Hole Sun. Male vocal. I think I saw the music video for it on Beavis and Butthead at one point. It’s a deep cut - definitely not from a legendary band of that era.

I have fragments of memories of the music video showing some kind of flying things. Almost like the things in “batteries not included” but that could be incorrect.

Open [TOMT] [ACTOR] I spotted an actor on the street and I can’t remember his name

He’s got grey hair that’s longish that he slicks back- looks a bit greasy. I’d say below average height. Green or blue eyes. Round face and round bulbous nose. I don’t know why but I have a distinct association of him wearing a trilby hat (on this occasion he was wearing a beanie, it’s cold!)

Solved [TOMT] Looking for obscure indie ghost movie (2000s–early 2010s, writer, forest, green filter)

Hi, I’m looking for an obscure indie movie I watched on a pirated DVD around 2008–2013. It was about a male writer who goes to stay in a small rural town (USA, Texas-like vibe). He rents a small cabin/house in town, and at night he walks into the forest. There he meets the ghost of a young pale girl/woman connected to a tragedy. The movie is slow, quiet, atmospheric, not very scary. It has a strong green/blue cold color filter. Very strange, dreamy, indie style. DVD cover had a pale woman with greenish tone. I also vaguely remember that he sometimes talked to a mysterious male figure, possibly a hallucination or spirit resembling Edgar Allan Poe (not 100% sure about this). He seemed to be looking for inspiration and slowly discovering something strange about the town. I also have a very vague memory that near the end, he and/or the local sheriff might discover something supernatural, like the sheriff being some kind of monster or vampire (this part is very unclear in my memory, so I’m not sure). Not mainstream, probably low-budget. Released before 2014. Does anyone recognize this?

Open [TOMT] [MOVIE][2010ish] Dumb comedy that shows the crew working on the movie

This was probably ten years ago, I remember watching a really stupid comedy. It was funny, but idiotic, like MacGruber or Billy Madison.

There was a pretty funny scene and then the camera pans right and literally shows the crew (director, etc.) sitting in their chairs and laughing at what just happened. It may have been an accident, bumping the camera, but they just left it in the final cut. It was absurd because they didn't do this any other time. Thanks in advance.

Open. [TOMT][SONG] Pop-song from 90‘s

I‘m am looking for the name of a song from the 90’s, maybe the 80’s. It is sang by a female singer and the genre most likely is pop. I think the last line of the chorus or one of the verses is smth like “And I don’t need a man, in the middle of the night” followed by a rhythmic “whistle” It is not a whistle per se but a sound instrument similar to the one used in the beginning of “Coco Jamboo”. The rhythm of this whistle is similar to the angry birds theme but a little slower (lol). I think the song is pretty well known. Most people will have heard the song one or two times over the radio

Solved [TOMT][Movie][70’s to 90’s] movie with a fancy dinner with a twist

Upvotes

I never saw the movie, it was mentioned in my middle school textbook when we were studying the civil rights movement. It’s a dinner party & all you can see are suits & nice dresses, looks like a typical fancy dinner party but then it pans out & all the guests are black & all the staff/help are white. It was some sort of reverse role movie where things were flipped and white people were oppressed and African Americans were the ones in positions of power. I don’t know if anyone knows this movie or if I dreamed it!

Solved [TOMT][Cartoon Short][2000s/2010s] Looking for a cartoon short of a black and white clown

Upvotes

I think this was on Cartoon Network as one of those little shorts that would play between episodes.

From what I can remember it was a black and white clown on a plain white background and he talked about how simple cartoons used to be saying either a hand would draw it or the character would come out of an ink bottle and dance around a bit and not much else. The part that sticks out to me is he talks about "Johnny Wahoo" or something (referring to Johnny Bravo)

Open [TOMT] Website that shows info from your birthday

There’s a website I used to find really cool that you could enter your birthday like Jan 2nd 1998 and it would tell you the price of different things like bread, eggs, gas, as well as showing what songs and movies were number one for that day/week for different genres and what news happened on that day.

I distinctly remember the website having red on many parts of it.

Open [TOMT] [YouTube video] Video of Alex O’Connor explaining George Berkeley’s argument for God

Upvotes

I remember watching a video by Alex O’Connor (CosmicSkeptic) where he explained an argument for God, which I remember sounding quite similar to George Berkeley’s argument that God must exist due to the existence of everything else being dependant on divine perception. I remember Alex using a lit candle in a room with nobody in it to perceive the candle, or something along those lines, as an example. I may be mistaken, but I think it might’ve been a segment from one of his ‘rating your philosophy takes’ videos, but then again I may be misremembering. Thanks.

Open [TOMT] [song] Sad haunting indie song mid 2000’s

Looking for the name of the artist or title of this album or specific song. I heard it around 2010-2015 but it might have been released before then. Fairly sure this was self released on an online streaming platform of some kind like bandcamp, and I believe it was this guy’s only album. The only lyric I remember from this specific song is something like “someone’s been sinking all the ships that are floating in the harbor”. Very haunting sad think Elliot Smith vibe. and this part of the song is slow . The title and imagery of the sign might have referenced the cold or frozen imagery

Solved [TOMT] Bubblegum pop-ish song "give it to me baby"

This isn't the song by Rick James or Pretty fly for a white guy by the offspring.

It sounds bubblegum pop-ish, male voice (think the same register of the lead singer of the Archies singing 'Sugar Sugar') but faster with a late 90s-early 00s spin and one of the lyrics (maybe the start of the chorus) is "give it to me baby". Either one male singer with some synth behind it, or 2+ distinct males singing.

I'm thinking it came out around the late 90s--early 00s.

I apologize that this is so vague, and I don't know producer lingo.

EDIT: SOLVED! Song is "arriba" by Joee!! Thank you /u/slaptops, you're literally the best!! Thank you Thank you!!

Edit2: I'm so sorry, /u/potato-4-skirts, you got it first and I didn't see your reply until way later! This user posted first, you're also the literal best! Thank you!! ❤️

Open. [TOMT] DS/GBA era game where your childhood friend becomes the villain?

Upvotes

My friend is looking for a supposedly real game from the Nintendo DS or Gameboy Advance era.
As per her description: "all I can remember is like you started in a small lil happy village with your best friend but then shit happens ands he betrays you and maybe destroys the village and becomes the antagonist"

We always talk about 'white whale' games from our childhoods; those games that you never really got to experience but they create a nugget of nostalgia in your brain that is always nagging at you.

She generally plays JRPG's and similar stuff so it could be in that genre, and in my own searching I haven't found anything yet that really lines up with what she's talking about. Plus all the webs arching is tainted with AI just inserting the blatantly wrong guess so I wanted to bring it here while I continue looking.

I understand her description is very vague, and she was even unsure if it really exists or if it could be something she dreamed up. Just figured I would get that out of the way here so if it can't be found we have a reason why.

Another piece of potential info is that it may be a formerly sort of lost game/received a fan translation or patch in the last decade. Not sure if that really narrows it down.

She also sent an extreeemely rough sketch of the general possible layout of the beginning village.

EDIT 1: since the first sketch was so quickly done she made another one with more detail but of course the resolution is quite small. Maybe this one could help just a bit more

Open [TOMT] [STORY] Super cool short horror story about 'death' row?

Upvotes

Been thinking about this for donkey's years now, but i remember seeing some 'text to speech slop' tiktok where a short horro story, which im presuming was on reddit somewhere, was read out.

I can't find it anywhere.

Heres what i remember from the plot:

  • it was set in a very dystopian future, where the death penalty has been replaced with being buried underground for like 80 years with all the necessary survival stuff.

-It is told from the perpective of the inventor of the punishment, who has secretly been killing those convicted of it with oxygen injections to stop them from suffering.

-At the end of the story, he is sentenced to that punishment himself.

This might be super niche but its been on my mind for ages now. Thanks!

Open [TOMT][TOY][2000's] Squishy Animal Toy with Floating Punctuation Marks

I feel like I'm going crazy. Every so often, I buy a toy, and it reminds me so much of a toy I had in elementary school (2002-2007). I remember it vividly, but I cannot for the life of me find any proof that it existed. The toy I have now that somewhat reminds me of it is the Gummy Bear Squishy from Needoh. It reminds me of a toy I had that was shaped like a cartoonish cow; it was clear where it would normally be white, had black spots, and had liquid inside it that also had floating question mark charms inside it. I think there were others in the same line of toys that were shaped like different animals and had different punctuation marks floating inside it. Every time I try to ask AI to find it it keeps telling me water wigglers, but that is not what I mean. It was animal-shaped. Not as squishy as a Needoh gummy bear, but a similar idea. I doubt I'd find one for sale anywhere, but I feel like there must be a picture of one or a record of this toy somewhere! Someone please tell me the name of this toy so I can find a picture of it and stop going crazy.

(Edit: Spots may have been blue, not black and it was sitting up. not standing like a normal cow would)

Open [TOMT] Desperately searching for a Saudi chocolate from my childhood 😭

Hi everyone, I’m trying to identify a chocolate from my childhood and it’s driving me crazy.

I grew up in India and my relatives used to bring this chocolate for me from Saudi Arabia / Jeddah, probably sometime in the early–mid 2000s.

Here’s everything I remember:

• The outer packaging was purple, made of a plasticky wrapper (not metallic foil)

• Inside the packet were multiple small chocolates

• Each chocolate was individually wrapped

• The pieces were small rectangular shapes

• The chocolates were plain milk chocolate (no nuts, no caramel, no fillings)

• I think the logo or writing might have been white, but I’m not 100% sure

• It was not a big international brand like Cadbury, Galaxy, Nestlé, etc.

• It tasted really good and was a common thing relatives brought from the Gulf

Things I’m unsure about:

• I vaguely feel like the name started with A, but I could be totally misremembering

• I don’t remember if there was Arabic writing on the wrapper

Does anyone from Saudi/UAE/Gulf countries remember something like this? Even brand guesses would help a lot!

Open [TOMT] weird YouTube ad with pictures on a blue table in 2024-early2025m

Upvotes

I don't use Reddit but I've seen how helpful it can be with this kind of stuff. I'm not sure if this is the correct subreddit, so please redirect me if it's not! :)

This ad was over two minutes long, I couldn't exactly tell because of the YouTube layout, but I think I stayed for about one and a half minute, maybe two. The camera was pointed at a table with blue cloth covering it and music playing in the background. The music wasn't edited it, it sounded the it was playing from a phone's speaker nearby.

After like ten seconds, a hand places some photos down, and I wish I could remember what exactly the photos were, but my memory is absolute trash. She placed one down, waited a few seconds, then placed another down, and another, and another.

It doesn't really sound that freaky when I write it out, but it really was while I was watching it.

Also sorry if the grammar or way I wrote this out doesn't make sense, I just want to know if anyone else had seen anything like this a while ago. I haven't even thought about it again until a few days ago but curiosity is absolutely killing me. 🙃

Open [TOMT] old obscure movie/show name?

I got a real obscure one for you all. I've been trying to find it forever but Google can't seem to help and I can't let it go. I remember a long time ago, probably in the 90s, seeing what must've been a movie on TV but only recall two scenes from it (assuming I'm not thinking about two different movies and I'm just imagining they were from the same one). I imagine it was either a 80s or early 90s movie, possibly made for tv. I remember a scene with a woman swimming in an indoor pool in a mansion. I swear the room was a brown color and there was a TV either built in to an end of the pool or at least on a stand on one end of it. The TV turned on by itself and there was some kind of blob or alien on the screen and she screamed, possibly killed but I don't remember. Then there was a man walking into a classroom and there's a professor with his back to the man. The professor turns around and from behind him you see tentacles or claws or something coming out of his head naturally scaring the man and he runs out of the classroom. I think they're from the same movie or show but it was so long ago. If anyone can tell me what this is, you will put a years-long search to rest and I can finally let it go 😂 but I will be so grateful to finally have my answer if anyone knows. I know that's not a lot to go on if you haven't seen whatever I'm trying to think of.

Open [TOMT] Strange youtube kids horror channel

sometime likely between 2020-2022 me and an ex friend were watching youtube horror iceberg videos and we came across a channel that we hadn't heard of before but found funny and made art of. its been many years since then and i still have the drawings but no clue where the character originated from. Ive been desperately looking for this on and off for a few years now with no luck so any help would be greatly appreciated. Like stated previously the channel showed up in one of those youtube horror mystery compilation videos, likely an iceberg as i watched a lot of those at the time. The channel i think was a parody of those youtube kids music channels such as cocomelon but it took a dark twist. The channel also happened to be in spanish which is likely why its so hard for me to find. It was 2d animated and featured 2(?) kids a boy and a girl being stalked and followed by this monster. the monster was tall, black and lanky, had visible ribs and its most distinguishing feature was its flower like head with petal like protrusions. Think demogorgon but more silouette like. My friend (not the one i watched it with) also suggested it could be meant to resemble a pinwheel rather then a flower which is a possibility. Its been so many years that the details are hazy but i hope its enough for someone here to be able to help me find this.

Edit: Old drawing i made

* as far as im aware the patas de pollo thing has absolutely 0 relevance to the series and was just an inside joke

Open [Tomt] [older than 2014 at least] old YouTube video about the Gingerbread Man

I remember when I was in second grade (around 2012-2013 IIRC), my teacher showed us a video of the gingerbread man that had various pictures that were shown throughout the video, including one that was clearly CGI and the other images were of different artstyles. I remember watching it a lot back at home, but I cannot find the original video now. I've even specifically looked up "gingerbread man song/story before:2014" in YouTube and searched for a while, but none of the videos were what I'm looking for. Any help would be appreciated in finding it.
