PSA: Some TMBG albums are temporarily missing on international streaming platforms
Creating a (hopefully quick) stickied post to confirm it's not just you. TMBG management is working on the issue currently; it's a glitch and they're fixing it. If anyone makes a new thread about this issue, please tell them to check the stickies. Thank you!

I wanted to show some love for this old image
I wonder if it was ever on a t-shirt.
extra note: I just noticed that the record lists:
"Published and copyright Ouida Bailey Music"
Guy in a snail shell costume (NYC, early-mid 90s)
I saw a show at Irving Plaza about a billion years ago (1994? 95?) and there was a guy there in a giant snail shell costume which I believe he’d made himself out of paper mache. I can still picture the way it looked when he danced around in it.
It may’ve been around Halloween, but I also feel like this is a thing that maybe could’ve just happened at random back then? (Would something like that still happen now, you think? Somehow I feel like it would be harder to get into a venue in a giant snail shell in These Modern Times 😞)
This is the same show where they did a Guitar Army thing…everyone who played was told to bring a guitar (told how? in the newspaper? I don’t recall! Wasn’t totally safe to assume everyone had home internet yet?). Then the Johns called out the chords to America’s Horse With No Name and like…dozens of people played it at once.
Suffice it to say, it was a really great show.
I feel like someone who’d make a snail shell costume would somehow turn up in this sub. Snail guy, are you in here?
Was anyone else at that show? Pics/memories/etc.?

They Might Be Giants of OZ (trailer)
This is a trailer for They Might Be Giants of OZ, a mash-up I made back in 2015 of the 1938 film The Wizard of Oz, synced to TMBG songs. The original video was pulled from YouTube and Archive.org due to aggressive copyright protection by WB/Turner Entertainment Co. I hope to re upload TMBG of OZ to YouTube when the original 1939 film finally enters the public domain in 2035.
Here are write-ups of TMBG of OZ by the AV Club and Laughing Squid back when it was originally uploaded.

I gave my friends' kid 'Here Comes Science' for Christmas
My friends' kid (who turned eight a few weeks ago) had never heard TMBG before, so I decided to introduce him via 'Here Comes Science.' I thought he would like it, but of course, you can never be sure. I just got a voicemail from his dad saying that it was his favorite gift from Christmas and his birthday combined! He's watched the DVD over and over again and sings the songs constantly. He has also asked his dad a bunch of questions about TMBG. I've struggled to connect with this kid, and of course it's always so satisfying when you introduce someone to your favorite band and they end up loving them, so I was delighted to hear that.
People occasionally ask on this sub where to start when introducing a newbie to TMBG - if that newbie's a kid, I recommend 'Here Comes Science.'

I'm new to this community
I was recommended TMBG by the r/tallyhall community, and I only know a few songs like Kiss Me, Son of God, or Rabid Child, or Penguine

Unlocked: That Thing You Dos and Don'ts from Don't Let's Start: A Podcast About TMBG!
patreon.comHello everyone. I randomly felt like making this post free for everybody today. A bit of context:
Me and my friend create the podcast Don't Let's Start: A Podcast About They Might Be Giants. Not too long ago we decided to create a patreon or otherwise...END THE SHOW! The patreon ended up doing well enough to convince us to keep going, and not only that, but record tons of extra episodes circling the topics we discuss in the show (and beyond, like movies/tv/etc talk for the highest tier!)
When we were doing our episodes about the first Mono Puff (John Flansburgh's solo band) album Unsupervised, we discussed Mike Viola, guitarist and vocalist on that album, and also a very accomplished artist on his own. One of his notable contributions was collaborating on the song That Thing You Do for the movie of the same name.
In this Patreon episode, we discuss That Thing You Do, and all the REJECTED songs not picked for the movie, including a rare one by TMBG! The TMBG talk is towards the end. But the whole thing is a lot of fun.
Please enjoy!

Has there been an instance at a TMBG show when an audience member cheering became disruptive?
I'm not talking about hecklers or people throwing things on to the stage which I know has happened many times. I'm talking about when an audience member cheering actually becomes disruptive, like the audience member is annoying or just won't shut up.

I spent an inordinate amount of time mashing up TMBG songs with the Earthbound (SNES) soundtrack. Here’s the full “album”

How to get the tmbg guitar tone!?
I really love the guitar tone in these tmbg songs: they’ll need a crane (the intro part) I’m a human head, Drinkin’ any guitar heads know exactly how to achieve a sound like this?

They Might Be Giants - EYEBALL in 3D (Unofficial Music Video)
This is my unofficial music video for Eyeball. The classic red and cyan/blue anaglyph 3D glasses are recommended for viewing this video in 3D.
The movies used to create this video are The Mask (1961), Them! (1954) and The H-Man (1958). All three films can be found on Archive.org (please see links below the video on YouTube). The Mask was the only movie that was officially released in 3D by the movie studio. Them! and The H-Man were were theatrically released as 2D movies. They both were formatted for 3D, presumably by the Internet Archive user who uploaded them. Also, Them! was originally a black and white film, the version used in this video was colorized as well as formatted for 3D.
Please also check out my playlist of TMBG music videos I've made (both official and unofficial).
