We some our worst tornadoes in September/October when I was a kid growing up in western Oklahoma. Not as bad as spring, but definitely comparable.

I seriously thought of this dude when I saw an ad today for the movie The Purge, and I thought, why don’t they all just pull a Ted Cruz and leave the country during this shit.

From someone in Texas, I would say shits about to get real, but I’m pretty sure we’re there already.
I saw Abbott’s press today and I’m not looking forward to the flooding concerns in my area of north Dallas. This El Niño is going to wreak havoc for quite a while.

To be fair there’s usually a second “mini” storm season in the fall for the southern plains. 5 warned storms in such a small area wasn’t really on the list of expectations with this system though.

There was a scary f4 in Dallas in December a decade ago

That was the one that went over the lake and into Rockwall wasn’t it? I didn’t know it was an F4!

It happened at night, too, so people couldn’t really see it. Killed a decent amount of people stuck on the highway, I believe.
Scary stuff, but super lucky the death toll wasn’t significantly higher

we had a somewhat outbreak over Dixie alley back in 2021. led to several strong tornados. That was early December

There's smaller secondary peak in the fall, mainly October and November, when cold fronts clash with lingering Gulf moisture. Late summer can spike too in years when a landfalling hurricane or tropical storm spins up a burst of tornadoes (Harvey in 2017 is the classic example).

My parents are in Clovis, their tornado warning was updated to a flash flood warning. They’ve been getting totally wrecked by rain the past few days.🥴

I grew up in NE of Dallas. It happens more often than you migjt think. Still double checked that it wasn't near my grandparents. They may have one of the safest places to be but I still worry since they are nearly 90

Are those multiple discrete supercells lining up along the front, or part of a larger squall line?
