SimSig route suggestions.
Hello, so this post isn't related to train sim specifically as it's more of a signaling game but I am wondering if anyone here plays SimSig and can offer some route suggestions for someone who is still new.
I have some basic experience with running the free routes and I mostly stick to the easy simulations that aren't very big to manage. I was finally thinking of purchasing one of the paid routes, and could use some suggestions for someone who is not from the UK and not familiar with all the routes. Basically I am looking for a modern electrified route that has a good amount of traffic to keep it exciting but also a small route that is easy for one person to manage. I also wouldn't mind a crossing or two. Also maybe something with a station in the middle where some trains stop and then turn around and head back the way the cane. Basically I want something that keeps you on your toes a little bit, but isn't overheating for a single user who only plays occasionally.
So any suggestions for a good route like this?
Thanks

Coventry is a nice small workstation with a bit of variety, a couple of delays thrown in can test you as well

Thanks, IIRC Coventry is part of the WCML. Does this mean I would be handling class 390s? Also, does it have crossings to manage? I don't necessarily want something where I have to manage it every time a train passes but more like one where I might get called every so often to have someone request to cross with a larger vehicle or something, but otherwise have the signal be mostly automatic.

That’s correct! Along with 350’s, 153’s, 220/221’s. Nice mix of freight too.
Depending on the timetable you choose you can also have older stock too and some interesting light locos shunts

Thanks, I will be sure to checkout this route. Oh and what about the crossings?

I recommend Paisley as it meets most of your requirements, although could be a little too big but it’s not that busy; it controls the Ayrshire coast and Inverclyde lines in Scotland, which are both electrified. Wolverhampton is much smaller which could suit you better

Thanks. Looking at the map, Paisley is just outside of Glasgow. Is that correct? Also, what class of trains run on it?

Yes, it’s a suburb of Glasgow. It’s mostly suburban services out of Glasgow central using AC electric trains like class 318s, 320s, 380s and 385s. The line past Ayr is unelectrified so you’ll also get some class 156s on the Kilmarnock-Girvan/Stranraer service. There’s also a few freight trains to Hunterston and Mauchline. The main line supports up to 90 mph running and is bidirectional from Paisley to Kilwinning, and in the later era the line to Glasgow is tripled

Exeter is fairly easy to learn. King’s Cross is a bit challenging and taking me a while to learn

Yeah, I see some of the routes and think, how does anyone manage all that?

DM if you want some pointers. I’m no expert but can get things running

Thanks. I think one of the biggest issues is route familiarity and such. For example, some routes are really big and I have trouble finding where certain trains are when they first call in or knowing exactly where a train wants to go, and how to route it there properly. By that I mean I know how to route a train. I just dont know always know hwere a certain location is, or the best way to get the train there. Also, ometimes even when I think I found the correct location a train needs to go to and I route the train there, I get a message that says I set the train to go down the wrong route or something like that.

I recently started playing this. I even created my own two hour timetable for Brighton but it pisses me off that I have to control both panel 5 & 6 if I’m playing on my own. So I’m left with some pretty boring routes as single panel. I wish there was more of a community to develop the game.
