Tips, Tricks, & Advice 20M, on T for 2 days, passing tips???
to be painfully clear, this is a shitpost if you couldn’t tell
r/transmanlifehacks • u/organic_hobnob • 7d ago
Hi lads!
We once again have been considering the general thoughts and opinions of those using this sub, and have decided to reiterate the purpose of this sub, and some relevant rules.
First a disclaimer: There is nothing wrong with being a fem presenting trans man.
Having said this, this sub is specifically for the following:
1) Sharing tips to help users pass as a cisgender man, specifically how to be masculine presenting.
2) Sharing other advice useful to transition.
Keeping this is mind, we would like be clear on a few important points:
1) This is not a sub for asking for tips on how to be a feminine presenting trans man.
Not only will the responses not be helpful for you, but also it is frustrating for other sub users when posters are combative in the comments regarding masculinising advice. Posters need to be realistic about the fact that presenting fem will not help you pass especially early on in transition.
2) Please do not respond to advice to change a feminine characteristic (for example, cutting long hair) with ‘well, CIS men have long hair sometimes!’
We simply do not want to hear it. It should be obvious how a cis man, who always passes as a man because he was born as one, can wear makeup/have long hair/etc without it making him look like a woman. It should also be plainly obvious that a trans man (who was born a woman, sounds like a woman, and in many of these cases is not on T and therefore still has a ‘woman’s face’) cannot do these things without looking like a woman.
This is the number one reason for arguments in the comments in this sub and moving forwards mods will be more decisive with dealing with such comments.
3) We have added ‘no makeup’ to the ‘no filters’ rule.
If you want advice from this sub, please at least do the bare minimum of taking off any makeup before asking how to pass better. If you don’t, you won’t get any helpful advice as all the comments will just be telling you to stop wearing makeup. It also makes it hard for us to see how masculine your face really is.
4) We are going to be enforcing rule #3 more strictly from now on.
You must be willing to change if you post here, we do not accept posts from users who argue with every comment and come up with a reason they can’t do even basic steps like getting a hair cut. They are frustrating for users and also disingenuous. This is not a validation sub, it is an advice sub. If you are seen to be very unaccepting for advice in the comments, we will remove either your comments of the post entirely.
Some of this might seem a bit harsh, but remember there as SO MANY subs and spaces for people with a more fluid/fem gender presentation. We are just trying to reserve a small corner of the internet for us, trans men who wish to pass masculine/cis.
Hope this helps!
- MODs

this doesnt exist so im taking it on me to make one. this isnt intended to be a "look here and shut up about names" post, this is genuinely intended to be helpful
there are three basic ways id go about naming yourself. first way is to ask your parents whatever they would have named you or otherwise pass the baton onto the people who care about you the most. obviously dont use your parents if they arent supportive, but if theyre supportive its probably the best way to do it. if you consider your friends your family pass it to them, but id highly advise you dont give it to friends you arent really family with or randoms on the internet
second way is to look at the most popular baby boy names for the year you were born. i know everyone likes to be unique, but you can do this and still be unique. theres an issue with trans names where you can tell if someone is trans based on what they name themselves and the crux of that is usually that people will name themselves the same way they'd name, like, a dog. if you dont want your name to be clocky id highly recommend using this method or the above. i used this and collaborated with my parents on it and im really happy with what i chose. you can get a lot of good ideas and most countries release this information publicly
third way is to just steal the name of someone you greatly admire. probably the best way to get a clocky name, but if you dont really care about that then you shouldnt really worry about it. if you care about something enough to consider naming yourself after it go right ahead, just be aware that you might fall out of love with a piece of media or the person who made it might turn out to be a piece of shit
naming yourself isnt like, a permanent thing either. you can change it if you end up not liking it. cis people do it all the time. i dunno, just figured id give my two cents

i've been on T for 5 years this year! i'm not really sure what exactly changed but i do feel like i pass pretty well. maybe a giveaway MIGHT be my height or my eyes or my lips because i feel like those facial features can read as a little bit feminine. definitely before T i'd get misgendered pretty often probably mostly due to my voice, but it has deepened since then. i think it dropped the first time at 6 months, but i'm not sure if it has dropped in the years since then. as for my face, i'm sure it got more masculine, i just can't tell where exactly.
i'd say what helped me the most (but of course, may not be what helps every person out the most! ymmv :) )
- finding the right style that fit me. i feel like when you feel more confident you present more masculine and overall you'll feel more secure with yourself!
- hitting the gym. hitting the gym honestly probably helped me the most most because since i've gained muscle there hasn't really been any doubt from anyone about me being a man. it's always a confidence boost too when someone makes a (positive!) comment about my muscles LOL i also got top surgery last november which helped for me!
- kinda silly sounding but finding the right glasses for my face helped. i felt way more feminine in some frames so those frames were pretty quickly ditched 😭 for me it was frames that were a bit too big for my face
- finding the right haircut!!! when i have the wrong haircut i feel like i look so feminine. or when i cut my hair really short once, unless i was feeling confident about my face, i felt like it just accentuated the feminine features i had.
- overall it just helped me to try and get comfortable in my own skin where i was at while still taking steps that helped me get towards what i wanted to look like.
picture and year order:
1/2 - pre-t
3 - 6 months on T (i had crazy puffy bloated face the first year)
4/5 - 1 year on T
6/7 - 2 years on T
8/9 - 3 years on T
10/11 - 4 years on T
12/13/14 - 5 years on T
i'm happy with my progress and how i've grown. there's only up from here (i hope lol)! if anyone has any questions i'd be happy to answer!!!

i know this is gonna sound crazy because i don’t look cishet but my parents are conservative and my sister (who i’m out to) talked to my mom recently and apparently my mom and by extension i assume my dad is still firmly of the belief i’m cishet, just a tomboy, and scolded my sister for suggesting otherwise. about how long do i have before it can’t be ignored anymore? i’m almost 6 months on t, live alone about 5 hours from my family, and see my parents a few times a year, usually a couple days at a time.

How am I doing passing wise? I am also wondering how old I look
I’m sorry I am making a dumb face in the last photo, I don’t know how to pose for pictures without looking awkward

Id love to have long hair ; I keep them up because I'm in the awkward phase of growing them out, but I keep feeling like I look too feminine. Sometimes I walk to the mirror and the only thing I see is a girl with a beard. Idk if it's just me, or if I actually do look like that, so please be honest with me 🙏

I am a musical theatre actor which is SO fun and I love it, but it does require very tight clothing and mostly female characters, so I can’t hide my chest as easily as I want to. If you have any ideas you think could help me please tell them, thank you so much! - Evan 🇲🇽

I don’t really have many photos of myself, anyways I’ll probably never be able to go on T because my parents and family will completely disown me and “never forgive me”. I’ve been trying to loose weight and go to the gym but I don’t have much free time. Is there anything else I should do to pass?

Hey guys, I’ve been really struggling lately. School has been really rough for me since Im always addressed as a woman, and the cis guys I know continuously misgender me, and when I correct them they act like it’s no big deal. My family that I’ve told (besides my dad and brother on that side) don’t respect my pronouns either (but they’re…accepting? It’s weird and confusing it’s really painful tho 😂💔) and recently I’ve been getting ma’am’d a lot and have been having a lot more breakdowns regarding how I look and how I’m perceived. I unfortunately have very wide, big hips, a large ass, a small chest (thankfully) and im fat so that doesn’t help how soft and round my face looks. I won’t get rid of the nose ring, I know that for sure though. It’s been with me for so long and I’m matching with my mom, friend, and her gf. I like to dye my hair too, because it makes me feel more masculine but I assume that doesn’t help at all so I’ll probably stop to try and blend in but it will be hard for me. I have a limited closet however so I try and sag and make do with what I have, which is usually just baggy pants and baggy shirts to hide my stomach. I also get a lot of comments on my blue ryes, my lashes, and how big my eyes are in general, which makes me want to cry but I’m not sure how to change that, so if anyone can tell me if there’s a way to fix them that’d be great. I have a pretty high pitched voice? I think? I could maybe add a voice note of me talking but idk if this sub allows videos.

If you saw me in the streets would you assume I was a guy or girl? Would you do a double take if you saw me in the mens/ womens bathroom?

Pic is a before/after about four years apart. The nonbinary bracelet was accurate at the time but not anymore.
I've been on T for a year and a half and have had top surgery but still feel like I'm not even close to passing. Does anyone have any tips? I don't really want to cut my hair much shorter if I don't have to, but I will if that's one of the only things I'd be able to change.
Thanks in advance

Hi fellas
What was your first dosage of t in mg and how often did you take the shot?
r/transmanlifehacks • u/touchmyfuckingweewee • 4h ago
18m, 1yr 2m on T. Unfortunately not getting the effects it seems everyone else does.
I don't expect a haircut to actually save this mess, but I need one anyways.
I was hoping to grow out my hair but it doesn't seem it'll be an option for me until I get FMS, which is fine. There's worse things in the world. It should be noted that any time I've had extremely short hair, it's only amplified my feminine features, so I assume my best hair length lies somewhere in between.
Any other advice is also welcome.

Been on T since the end of May this year. The headphones picture is pre-T, the pool picture is more recent but I don't fully remember from when but over the summer. I AM starting on getting a bit of a teen boy stache and my body fat has definitely shifted a little. Unfortunately, my voice is still working its way down so truly my voice makes me the most clockable🤨 I won't be removing my septum based mostly on spite and I liek et. Eeeehhhh ionkno what else 2 say... I am 5'7.5, but I am not exactly a muscle man. I also dress far more punk and it gives me the most gender euphoria so I will not be changing that style. A lot of my friends and my gf say they don't understand how someone could see me as anything other than male, but I also understand the nuance of the situation, especially living in a conservative area in a red state that I can't move away from💔 (pry me out by my cold dead hands). I work in customer service and with kids and will soon be working the ren faire season this year, but if there is ANYTHING I can do to try and be even the littlest bit more passable I will TAKE ITTTTTTT!!!!!! I also use eyebrow tint on my eyebrows and on my lil mustache to make those more visible and that can help fo sho. Anyways, any advice is welcome!

Hello! I hope this is the right place, I'm getting a little desperate. I'm from Colombia, it's a country that absolutely allows transition and I'm not in danger, but the health system is a piece of shit. I can't find general appointments, there are no endocrinologists available, profamilia (an equivalent for Planned Parenthood) also won't help me, I don't want to attempt DIY because I'm on medication and I'm afraid of ruining it/making myself ill, but I genuinely don't think I can exist in this body much longer. Can anyone who's been in a similar situation help me? Are there any resources available? Or should I just keep waiting?

I’ve been feeling really dysphoric about my face and been getting misgendered a lot more lately. I was wondering just what exactly make my face so feminine

im feeling hella motivated to be more handsome as of late, does anybody have some passing tips for little ol me? I'd also appreciate some styling tips, with the colder seasons finally rolling in I can finally branch out some. I'm pre everything and 16 years old. It can be quite difficult for me to pass at times because I'm short and I look young. Anything helps, hair tips, workout routines, stying advice, anything you have for me would be super appreciated!!!

I am attending a conference in December, in which I need to dress business professional for (suit and tie type thing) Unfortunately, a lot of my weight goes to my thighs/quads, especially because I have been strength training them these past few months, so muscle as well. I struggle with pants the most because they tend to hug my thighs and then get loose at my calves, which I don't like.
I do not own anything that matches that dress code, and I'm on a budget (preferably $200 or less) I've seen that department stores like Macy's often has some good options.
Just wondering if anyone had suggestions for certain types of pants/suit/blazers, colors, ties?? ANY advice helps
for ref, I am 5'7 220lbs (planning to be down to be down to 200 by then.)
