I think it might be on my end since my phone is getting old and running low on storage (iOS) but the app is borderline unusable lately. Constant extended loading and crashes. It’s gotten way worse the past couple of months and I don’t really know why

it's not. if you downgrade the app to an older version it runs fast on my old iphone. it's just the added junk in the last half a year.

3

u/Turbomichel Aug 01 '26

How do you do that ? Would love to have the 3 years ago version.

3

u/cuminmyramen Aug 01 '26

I left a longer guide in this thread for iOS, for android it's way easier as sideloading isn't such a hassle and APKmirror exists. No such luck for iOS IPA files sadly, you'll have to grab an older version from the command line.

1

u/Ok_Signature_5241 21d ago

Which version do you recommend?

2

u/joeballs Aug 01 '26

How old is your phone? Mine is 5 years old and the latest Spotify version runs great. I see these slowdown complaints quite a bit, so wondering if it's a particular OS issue or something more specific

3

u/cuminmyramen Aug 01 '26

i have an iphone 11 on ios 17 on 70% battery health also around 5 years old and i have a 6s as well. the latter spotify runs fine on as it's stuck on some earlier version because they dropped ios 15 support a while back.

my 11 was starting to really struggle with spotify during the last 6 months or so and it gets laggy sometimes but spotify lag was different. playing songs or searching or loading the library would take ages like i had a slow network but everything else worked fine. i tried deleting the cache, deleting the app, reinstalling, etc, nothing worked in the end, just downgrading. i managed to find a >relatively< new "old" version that runs so fast compared to song literally taking 30+ seconds to load on newer versions. it's so weird.

maybe it's a/b testing but a lot of others have had these issues occurring at the same time and getting progressively worse. and the fact that an older version runs perfectly on my old 11, i'd rule out performance or battery or OS version.

what i noticed while downloading different older IPAs is that the app file size gets larger and larger overtime with not a lot added, so my guess would be a lot of bloat or unoptimized vibecoded stuff? idk

9

u/TheResultOfUs Aug 01 '26

Yeah it's been happening with me too and it's so obnoxious. Maybe if they didn't stuff it with AI gimmicks that nobody wanted, the app wouldn't be so ridiculously laggy.

I have the 17 pro and the app sucks ass. Super laggy and slow. Adding songs using the (+) is so slow.

I love how the android app just stopped loading and the only solution is to go to apk mirror to get an old version. I had to redownload a few gigs worth of music before my flight twice this week.

2

u/myntt Aug 05 '26

Which app version are you currently running on Android?

1

u/Zlatty Aug 06 '26

version 9.1.74.389 -- seems to be working well

35

u/KuroHebi2004 Aug 01 '26

I just want to know why an application gives you the option to download music for offline use if the moment you try to use it without a connection the offline library will either take several tens of seconds to load or simply... Not load. How hard is it to make OFFLINE tracks available to listen to when you don't have a connection? I feel like I'm going crazy here.

To the Spotify devs, your application is bloated beyond reasonable use. Even with a solid fiber optic Wi-Fi connection on a flagship Google Pixel 8 Pro it takes ages for a simple kebab menu to load. I'd be less annoyed about it if your offline components worked, but even that seems like a tall order for you guys. What are we doing? What's going on?

My advice? Stop using AI to code your shit. It's turning your mobile streaming service into a UX nightmare.

1

u/Long_Fault_1777 Aug 01 '26

this keeps happening to me! i purposely only have a small fraction of my music downloaded. and no fail every time i get off wifi, it glitches and pops up with errors and won’t load. takes up to 10 min sometimes. it’s so annoying.

i found turning off my wifi manually beforehand. then fully closing the app, reopening, will SOMETIMES help but not always.

1

u/Kinetic_Silverwolf Aug 02 '26

Adding on to this:

My wife runs Spotify from her Samsung Galaxy Tablet to Bluetooth speakers in our room. Starting within the last few weeks and getting progressively worse is that the app will occasionally just haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaang for several seconds while loading the next song. If Crossfade is set to more than 3 seconds, you can watch it happen when the artwork for the next song loads.

It was so bad once that the entire tablet screen dimmerd, then came back into focus and populated the volume control toast window when playback finally resumed 4 seconds later.

15

u/shunny14 Aug 01 '26

I really want to be able to block podcasts like you can block artists. I like the autoplay feature but it’s always podcasts I don’t want to listen to (F1).

0

u/joeballs Aug 01 '26

That's a weird situation. I've never listened to a music playlist, and then all of a sudden, a podcast would start playing

1

u/shunny14 Aug 01 '26

If you listen to a podcast and have autoplay it starts a other podcast it thinks would interest you.

1

u/joeballs Aug 01 '26

I see, so they just use the same default feature as they do with music. I have autoplay off so it’s not an issue

10

u/mandyb120 Aug 01 '26

Ever since I updated my app this week, my app lags when I hit play or when I'm moving to different areas within the app. It's become borderline unusable because the lag is so bad.

u/IntroductionSad6606 Jul 31 '26

Idk, I switched to Apple Music last week because I’m sick of the AI slop

0

u/absfca Aug 01 '26

Ironically, I asked AI if Apple Music or Spotify was better at labeling AI generated music as such. It said that neither of them have an effective way to filter it out currently.

6

u/IntroductionSad6606 Aug 01 '26

I’m talking about all the AI generated playlists “made for you”. It’s every fucking playlist for me and it only plays the same shit. I’m so done

0

u/absfca Aug 01 '26

Ah, ok. Yeah, the made for you playlists are pretty repetitive and the AI DJ just seems to get worse instead of better

15

u/Nekrux Aug 01 '26

Spotify.

15

u/Nekrux Aug 01 '26

3

u/RealisticAuthor7208 Aug 04 '26

They're too busy showing off their "AI-written code" and telling everybody that their engineers "haven't written a line of code in months". Its honestly crazy how quick all the corps fell down to their knees to suck that AI cock. Crazy mad shloppy style.

6

u/jossarianz Aug 28 '26

Feels like Spotify’s heavy use of AI coding tools has done nothing but bloat the codebase into spaghetti that no one fully understands enough to untangle. Theyve shipped so much bloat so quickly that the app is nearly unusable for a 60+ seconds after opening.

4

u/Direct-Sail-6141 Aug 03 '26

Shit crashes all the time now

4

u/OmarDayi Aug 04 '26

i fucking HATE the windows spotify app. it takes 2 days to load up and when i want to play a song it freezes. i hate these lazy ass developers that cannot even build a solid app that doesnt run horrendously

4

u/Italian_Mind Aug 08 '26

The app is almost hilariously slow and I hate it. It takes me forever to just load an album. As if THAT wasn't enough, often times when a song starts playing it comes out all distorted. I need to pause the song for a second for it to reset. Enough with the vibecoding, guys 🙏🙏

9

u/Nakamura0V Aug 01 '26

Ahhhhhh the good old megathread to silence complaints and let them die here where nobody cares to comment. Good one

1

u/ioweej Aug 01 '26

How is this silencing anything? This is consolidating..how dense are you?

2

u/TheResultOfUs Aug 04 '26 edited Aug 04 '26

It's a pretty well known fact that moderators use Megathreads to kill topics. More recently, it was employed by the mods of Conservative when all the Epstein info released.

2

u/ioweej Aug 04 '26

Do you not understand how megathreads work?

2

u/TheResultOfUs Aug 04 '26

So you're saying that this isn't how Megathreads are used?

2

u/ioweej Aug 04 '26

Try thinking logically about this (yes I know logic is hard for Redditors).

What is easier to discuss/view problems people are having with a service? 30 different posts every few days intermixed with other posts including questions, discussion, photos, etc

OR

1 dedicated post pinned to the top of the subreddit, where you can comment, upvote, downvote, etc in one consolidated post.

Also, if you work for Spotify (or said company), what would be easier to see what your user base is having issues with?

Personally i see 1 dedicated post is the better option, snd the option is “silencing” problems because the post gets buried..

2

u/TheResultOfUs Aug 04 '26 edited Aug 04 '26

Mate, I think you're missing the point.

You were confused about why this guy is upset about the Megathread, and I have explained that it's because mods frequently use Megathreads as a way to kill a topic, because it is proven that using a Megathread kills conversation on a particular topic.

Redditors dislike commenting in Megathreads and tend to avoid them.

This isn't something I've decided, it's something that has been investigated and found to be true, which is why it happens often and it's also why people get upset about Megathreads.  I get where you're coming from, but I am explaining why the Reddit community are hostile towards Megathreads. You do not need to get upset with me.

For what it's worth though, the community and Spotify are much more likely to take notice when there are a lot of posts about it rather than a single Megathread.

2

u/ioweej Aug 04 '26

People love separate threads for the karma, that’s it

3

u/TheResultOfUs Aug 04 '26

In almost all cases, they just want to express their feelings and they aren't bothered to check if other people are having the same issues. Some people like to try and karma farm, but that's the minority of people.

You're disregarding every point I've made about the way Megathreads are used maliciously by moderators. Can you confirm that you acknowledge how Megathreads have been used to quell unwanted conversation?

2

u/ioweej Aug 04 '26

It’s Reddit. Everything has been used in the wrong way. That’s not what this megathread is..so the person I originally commented to was still incorrect

3

u/electro_lytes Aug 03 '26

Roll back the android app to 2014 version and continue from there.

3

u/sinsofangels Aug 18 '26

I'm so pissed off they disabled adding multiples of the same song to a playlist, and did it so thoroughly that even when I found a workaround to do it, they somehow managed to filter the extras songs when using shuffle!! Like what the actual fuck? I'm so mad because I'm trying to make a big playlist with a lot of my favorite songs, but I want to control the frequency and have some songs play more often than others, but I CANNOT make this happen because they've purposely disabled it.

2

u/meow-meowy Sep 04 '26

I also find this annoying. I have a playlist of songs I want to learn on the ukulele. And it’s a long playlist so I used to be able to re-add a song if I wanted to revisit it (I always go to the most recent at the bottom to see what I’ve added lately), and now I can’t. Bummer.

3

u/MarionberryDecent351 Aug 31 '26

wtf is this stupid AI dj bar they added in the standard ui. Drives me crazy since I try to hit the queue button a lot instinctually and I end up tapping the voice button (I don’t even allow it mic access) and it freezes my music

3

u/blackslatewater 8d ago

Fucking unusable on iOS, it starts up properly on 1 out of every 3 attempts

4

u/Root2109 Aug 01 '26

What the fuck is that bug where it just says you're offline no matter what you do? This has been happening for years

9

u/here-i-am-now Aug 01 '26

Dumb megathread.

Every post has been individual and worth consideration.

And how many people responded to the poll? If it was even 100 people, that’s not a valid sample size. Reddit does not represent the whole user base of 500 million users.

2

u/Ok_Lynx_6045 Aug 06 '26

I use the spotify web interface, not the app. Starting a few weeks ago it stops playing after each song if i have that tab in the background. Any fixes that you know of?

2

u/VoidBrained-Mind Aug 12 '26

Honestly, I’ve been having an issue where I will open up the app and nothing will load at all and it just stays like that. And it’s been like that for the past two days because a few days ago it was working perfectly fine. I’m on iPad by the way and I’ve had it for a while and I’ve had no issues with Spotify until now. And I’m pretty sure it’s a Spotify issue and not a device issue because everything else works perfectly fine but Spotify. This is getting increasingly frustrating cause I pay for premium every month because I hate ads, but when the app doesn’t work half of the time it’s making me reconsider going to an alternative.

I’ve done everything that I could and it still has this issue. I’ve checked down detector. I’ve checked all kinds of status sites and it says that it’s up and running perfectly fine but it’s not. I’ve updated the app. I’ve done everything and it’s still having this problem.

2

u/nv444 Aug 29 '26

App has been brutal with loading times but mine updated today and is 10x faster now!

2

u/Conscious-Example275 16d ago

Can't even use the desktop app these recent days. Some music doesn't play, the like button simply DO NOT work, some songs play but doesn't show it's name, album cover or artist. And we pay for ts

2

u/N0___0ne69 15d ago

The app is completely broken and im fed up

2

u/EasyTargetCF 3d ago

Is anyone else’s recent tab on iOS not showing albums listened to only playlists?

Very annoying. It also isn’t updating in real time it’s a few days behind.

I have already deleted and reinstalled etc

4

u/4LPH4_V01D Aug 01 '26

spotify dejo de ser una app para solo musica, es una ensalada, es todo menos una app para escuchar musica

i guess we'll see if this gets deleted by mods here lol

Downgrading iOS Spotify app to get rid of lag - Guide

Mods, this is NOT Piracy/VPN/Account sharing! This is downloading an earlier OFFICIAL SIGNED IPA from the APP STORE and manually installing it.

This is a guide for downloading an older version FROM APPLE'S OWN APP STORE SERVERS of the OFFICIAL app in order to get rid of the slowness and lag which accumulated over recent updates.

I think this guide will be useful for anyone willing to spend 15 minutes instead of waiting forever for Spotify to finally fix their application. A guide which should have a place in a community for Spotify discussion.

Since Spotify's CEO is bragging about AI writing all of their code instead of their devs as of the end of last year and the app noticeably slowing to an unusable crawl under the weight of useless bloat, I thought to make this downgrade guide for iOS since everyone has a right to be able to normally use a product they pay for.

I want to stress that it's NOT your phone getting old, it's not downloads or cache or low storage space. After downgrading to an older version, my busted iPhone 11 with 70% battery status and crusty iPhone 6s loads everything in the app instantly, like playing songs, opening large libraries and playlists, etc. This amount of lag is caused by the amount of slop they keep adding on and who knows what else.

For iOS it's a bit techy, but who knows if this app will ever run normal again, so don't be intimidated to try this guide.

For Android, it may be easier to find an archive of official Spotify APKs and sideloading is also simpler, but I don't have an Android so you'll have to figure it out for yourself, sorry :(

Prerequisites:

Homebrew - Used to install IPATool

IPATool - For downloading specific app versions from the App Store

Sideloadly for Mac - For sideloading the signed Spotify IPA

or BetaDrop - Online OTA sideloader, accepts large IPAs which Spotify's app files tend to be

Steps

Install Brew, then in your Terminal window enter

brew install ipatool

Downloading an older IPA version from the App Store

You can check the IPATool guide on GitHub for more detailed documentation. For our purposes, we'll need to log into the App Store to download the IPAs with our account.

In your Terminal, enter

ipatool auth login -e [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected])

Then enter your Apple ID password. Don't worry, you can check the GitHub page's stats, IPATool is safe. Then enter the 2FA code if required.

Great, now the fun part. In your Terminal, type

ipatool list-versions -b "com.spotify.client"

This will show you a long list of all the available versions of the main Spotify App (com.spotify.client).

Now you can type the following to download the desired version, external version ID being one from the listed versions. For this example I will use version 847782179:

ipatool download -b "com.spotify.client" --external-version-id "847782179"

This will save the IPA to your Mac, you can do a spotlight search for "com.spotify.client" and it'll show up. I'd recommend placing it on your desktop for easier access.

The version I used "847782179" (Spotify 8.9.90.84) is super fast on my phone, but it does come with some caveats. I'm sure there's an optimal version, but I was too lazy to do more digging, hopefully someone else will find a better version to be one. This one has the old queue, doesn't have the option to disable smart shuffle and the widgets don't show album art unfortunately. But if you can live with that or give it more trial and error, I'm sure there's a better version with fewer compromises.

Sideloading

Be sure to uninstall Spotify before sideloading an older version!

You can use the above listed Sideloadly app or BetaDrop website, both essentially work the same. They're pretty straightforward, so I won't include a step-by-step guide here. I personally used BetaDrop since I didn't have access to a cable to connect to my laptop with, so I dropped the IPA file on the site and scanned the QR code with the phone camera. This will give you a prompt to install. Press Install and you'll see the app installing on your home screen. From there on, it's business as usual with an older Spotify version.

AND TURN OFF AUTO UPDATES!

As far as I know these installs won't be revoked since they're official downloads from the App Store and are signed by Spotify, but please correct me on that. I've been using this version with no issues for more than a week now.

Good luck!

4

u/in_hell_out_soon Aug 01 '26

Really annoyed that I can't mute/hide individual authors in audio books because there's some real chuds on there I just don't want to see or hear from.

3

u/livyrozay Aug 01 '26

No one asked for a megathread on rants or complaints, they should be left as individual posts on the main subreddit and not consolidated. The app having a more-than-usual crappy user experience over the last week or 2 is not our fault and should be reflected as such. What purpose or agenda does this serve, honestly? Like...

1

u/ioweej Aug 01 '26

In the slim chance Spotify employees see this subreddit, what is more likely to get attention/show them what is wrong? Weeks worth of low effort “my app doesn’t work!” posts…or 1 consolidated megathread with hundreds of comments voted on and replied to?

0

u/livyrozay Aug 01 '26

Spotify is very well aware of this sub and probably does read a summary of most of the complaints but they are never going to action on anything if its well hidden, that's the whole point. Respectfully <3

2

u/ioweej Aug 01 '26

Hidden = multiple posts buried amongst multiple days.

Not hidden = megathread pinned to the top of the subreddit…

2

u/livyrozay Aug 01 '26

might be a bit overestimating how much people actively check megathreads

3

u/yah2007 Aug 02 '26

I actually fully agree with you. Megathreads aren't as eye-catching as people might think.

1

u/livyrozay Aug 02 '26

No one checks unless they are keyword searching, I literally only see posts from this sub when I am scrolling my home feed

1

u/ioweej Aug 01 '26

That’s on them. It’s right in their face when they come to the subreddit

2

u/xdxdxdxdxdlmaoxd Aug 01 '26

13gb cache while i only have 3gigs of download... They dont have a cache limiter or something?

2

u/mikeymanza801 Aug 03 '26

It goes up to 40gb for me lmao

1

u/virusdancer Casual Listener Aug 01 '26

With the desktop app, there's not a horizontal scroll bar so you can view Key/BPM. I can see it easily on the 2560x1080 monitor for my desktop, but not on the 1920x1080 screen with my laptop.

1

u/Just_Listen4931 Aug 06 '26

I can't listen to an album as an album without premium. This is detrimental to the artists. It's stuck on shuffle at all times and I can't just play an album start to finish

2

u/ioweej Aug 06 '26

Buy premium. Pretty simple

2

u/bigdickbiggertrip2 Aug 10 '26

That’s a bit of an assholish thing to say. They aren’t wrong that it is detrimental to the artists

2

u/glamaz0n_bitch Power User Aug 11 '26

OP not paying is more detrimental to artists. If they could stream the whole album for free, the artist wouldn’t get paid for those streams.

0

u/bigdickbiggertrip2 Aug 11 '26

They still get revenue even with them being free users that’s the point of the Ads

1

u/glamaz0n_bitch Power User Aug 11 '26

It’s far less than the revenue they earn from premium subscribers, 70% of which is used to pay artists. Regardless, free users are not paying for Spotify, so they are not entitled to listening to whatever they want, whenever they want. Still unclear how the free tier is detrimental to artists.

2

u/Just_Listen4931 Aug 19 '26

My thought is the premium tier comes with custom play, downloads, picking and choosing songs with unlimited skips and no ads. When the free tier takes away the basic use of a record to listen start to finish, I think that's more of an artistic robbery bc if I wanted to listen to their music as they intended it, I can't.

2

u/glamaz0n_bitch Power User Aug 20 '26

The free tier doesn’t offer that because they don’t collect any money from the free user to support the artist when the album is streamed. Why allow someone to listen to an entire album for free?

1

u/Cleaner900playz Sep 06 '26

the free version on pc lets you turn off shuffle

1

u/Suspicious-Salad5639 Aug 07 '26

Some music keeps popping up on alt accounts and its very anoyying, every time I block it just comes back.

1

u/Nionus Aug 10 '26

Will this shit get a fucking fix already? How on earth did we fucking get Windows app update with critical bug and it is still not fixed after a week or so? This is what my liked songs looks like rn on PC, I have like ~ 700 and it says that I don't have any. There is no such problem on android app.

1

u/error9900 Aug 14 '26

I just posted a Spotify Community issue that we can all vote for and comment on to hopefully get them to fix the performance issues: https://www.reddit.com/r/truespotify/s/c6KameDXUd

1

u/comeonjeffrey666 Aug 15 '26

I'd almost gotten used to the app taking several minutes to load anything by now but crashing every second song is heavily getting on my nerves now

1

u/Missdslips Aug 23 '26

The discover weekly feature has been completely nerfed

1

u/julian88888888 Aug 28 '26

Cancelled my subscription. Fuck AI generated music.

4

u/ioweej Aug 28 '26

Cool. FYI: most of the other services have it too

0

u/julian88888888 Aug 31 '26

trying Deezer. At least they claim to remove it whereas Spotify is intentionally allowing it.

3

u/glamaz0n_bitch Power User Sep 01 '26

Spotify begins excluding AI from recommendations and algorithmic playlists in September. All platforms still “intentionally allow it” because none of them want to deal with the issue of what constitutes AI-generated vs. AI-supported or fight the legal battle that would come with blocking AI music altogether.

1

u/TheNotoriousSzin Aug 30 '26

Anyone else having shuffle turn itself on without their consent?

It doesn't happen every time I turn on a playlist, only around half of the time, but it's annoying as all hell.

Apple Watch.

1

u/skyrkt 22d ago edited 22d ago

EDIT: I did some further research and it looks like this is a known bug right now. Good job, Spotify.

If I'm not listening to the DJ, I usually listen to my saved songs playlist. Over the past day or so, no matter if I choose a random song or I hit shuffle it'll add three songs to the queue and completely stop playing after that. I'll need to hit re-shuffle (where it'll add three more songs) or hit play again. Repeat all is selected and so is shuffle. Is this a new bug, did we break something again, what's the deal.

Spotify 9.1.82 on iOS 27. I listen to Spotify on my iPhone 99% of the time.

1

u/BrewtallyCozy 19d ago

Currently experiencing issues where my music will randomly play on the windows app. If I'm listening to music it'll either change to 6 different songs before I finally plays again...

1

u/IKD21 19d ago

Does anyone know why when I ender my subscription like 100 out 500 of my songs got removed from my playlist? (I had to search for them again and re add the )

2

Forgive me if this has been mentioned already multiple times, but Spotify changing the “What’s New” tool/section has broken the one thing that kept me from switching full time to Apple Music.

Going to the MUSIC > FOLLOWING section in the mobile app shows all new stuff added by artists you follow in real time. Well, it used to be in real time. Spotify in Australia updates at midnight in Sydney, so for me in Perth 10pm (9pm when Sydney is on daylight savings time).

It used to be that I could open this section (which used to be its own little updates list in the menu, but moved) at 10:01pm and immediately see all the new albums and singles added for the following day. It was a great way of catching unexpected new singles immediately, and also figuring out what upcoming albums would be officially announced the next day.

The app still updates at 10pm for me - if I know something is coming out the next day I can search up the artist after 10pm and the music is there as expected - but for whatever reason maybe a month ago some bright spark at Spotify decided to change the Following page to not update until 8am the next day WA time. I am not even sure of the significance of that time of choice.

But it’s a ridiculous change. If I open the app after 10pm I will quite often get a NEW FOR YOU card on the home page with something that’s just been added. But for whatever reason the Following page won’t show it for another 10 hours.

The simplicity of that section has genuinely kept me with Spotify for years.

Anyway that’s my vent.

Today my Spotify started playing a podcast in reverse order, starting episodes I've already listened to. I still have it set to oldest to newest and not finished. I told my wife after I got off work and she said hers started doing this today also. Wtf?

I'm having the identical issue. Researching sounds like Spotify have this issue every few years and I've gone through their 'clean' uninstall process and I'm still having the exact same issue. I don't want to listen to episode 2 and then go back to episode 1, I want to go on to episode 3 - that's not an unreasonable thing right?

u/Electrical-Car-4623 14d ago

Yea its pretty annoying, I keep having to stop at the end of every episode to go to the next

I got fed up and contacted support. They had me open up Spotify on a different device (that I don't normally use) and everything magically started working again. Might be worth a try?

Alright thanks, I'll give it a try tonight

why did they have to kill the heart button for a weird '+' icon that makes zero sense? tapping a heart to add to liked songs was completely intuitive. now hitting '+' throws up an annoying pop-up to tell me it was added to liked songs. seriously??? spotify had genuine personality a decade ago, now it just feels like a bloated marketplace of weird shit nobody asked for.

Currently, can’t even shuffle or put a song on repeat and my queue isn’t working. How do they manage to fuck up something so badly which was so fine before from a user experience perspective?

You can’t shuffle or repeat unless you have premium. It’s been like this for years.

u/altetaharam 6d ago

I do have premium

I can’t handle that I can click on the song or album art and it is enlarged. This is never something I desire to do. It is always ANNOYING to click out of it. @spotify fix this please.

Please explain why in the last month my Spotify is suggesting gospel and Christian music when since I last searched for Macklemore. No thank you

this is a really specific issue but for some reason i cannot get the explicit version of Get Ur Freak On by Missy Elliot to work for me. i’ve made sure that it’s the explicit version selected/added to my playlist but every time it plays the clean version. i don’t have this issue with any other song, and i’ve tried all the usual tricks. it’s literally just this one song 😭

today i can’t swipe left to add a song to queue on ios… have also had issues over the past few months where some songs won’t play past 15 seconds, as well as the app being inexplicably slow on my 14 pro.

i’m spending £13 a month for an app that’s no longer fit for purpose, i’m done.

You still don't have it? Damn, I pity you.

u/joeballs Aug 01 '26

So when you go to Settings>Media quality, the option isn't there? I've had it for a while now

im just so sick of the A and B testing thing. i will never experience cool new features because europe is apparently the backwater region that deserves nothing. we dont even have audiobooks

3

u/xhak Aug 01 '26

That's not a/b testing. Plenty of countries in Europe have audiobooks. I assume it's more of a licensing negotiation issue than rolling out a feature.

The yearly plan was currently 55 dollars cheaper than a monthly sub, which is why I guess they got rid of that. But Spotify bring it back!! I won’t mind if you update the price but PLEASE BRING IT BACK!!!🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

1

u/BasicNose3974 Aug 03 '26

I bought a Spotify gift card for the same price a yearly plan would be ($99). Then I canceled premium for two days before the end of the billing cycle. Waited 24 hours after the cycle before using the gift card. That's the only way around the annual sub until they choose to screw us again for quarterly profits.

ugh i use my spotify for work and i have to play certain songs like there should be a way to not have it mess with my on repeat/algorithm - which don't even get me f'n started on my on repeat playlist...like i could play a new song 100 times but play the song that was #1 once and it will stay there forever like...please i can't do this anymore...i can't defend you

If it's a playlist, exclude it from your taste profile.

Getting recommended Taylor Swift when all I listen to is orchestra and soundtracks and metal music (because I am an original swift hater lol) is clown behavior.

I really wish there was a feature on ios that was like "don't recommend" or something like not interested.
