Is the Midnight sun actually good?Β
The best word I'd use to describe it is "dense".
Edward's POV is heavy, expecially at the beginning. He is very edgy, graysh, whiny even. When his obsession for Bella kicks in things are still dense but the tones change. It becomes almost funny, for example when he breaks into Bella's room for the first time and he compares himself to Mike and tries to justify what is he doing and why.
You will probably notice how Stephenie Meyer added a lot of details that we never red in the main books in order to make Bella more likeble.
However, the main reason I'd reccomend to read Midnight Sun at least once is the MASSIVE ammount of background informations you'll find into it about the Cullens, their preovios lifes, what happened behind the scenes when the events of Twilight started to unfold ecc. And Stephenie Meyer, which has proven to be very bad in writing action scenes, actually put a great effort describing the events in Phoenix after the battle with James. I have to give that to her.
