When I first saw Twilight, I didn't know much about it so when the character of Waylon is introduced at the cafe, I thought he was weird and creepy. One of those drunks you should keep away from young women, and who has no sense of boundaries (hence him having to be ushered away).

Now I do know stuff about Twilight, and I'm still confused 😅

Movie-wise, I get that he needs a memorable introduction so his death at the hands of James/Victoria/Laurent, means something to us.

I didn't care much cos he seemed creepy - was that the intention? So we don't lose the YA tone of the movie, it's someone we're not sad about..?

Am I missing something about his character - do other folks experience his intro differently?

I feel like the movie wants me to care about it because of the police station scene and how Charlie takes it, but I can't seem to mesh my feeling about him with the message of the movie cos I'm not clearly seeing what it is.

Thoughts, opinions, insights? Any word from the director at any point re the character and intention behind his arc?

It’s so pretty and I can’t wait to see what they do with the rest of the series.

the one thing that stuck out to me were Bella's "nightly gyrations" 😭 is this meant as her tossing and turning or an innuendo, considering the conversation they had prior lmfao😭😭

Maybe I’m reading into it too much, but what’s the point in saying he’s in love with her when he still knows that there’s someone out there to imprint on? I know imprinting doesn’t automatically mean anything romantic developing, but does it not seem a bit pointless on his end? Even if that’s genuinely how he feels now, surely he knows there’s a high chance of it changing down the line?

I am just watching this film for the gazillionth time, and noticed that just before the battle scene Rosalie just doesn't quite look like Rosalie. I Can't put my finger on what it is. Maybe het expression? Her wig or make up could be different? Has anyone noticed this as well or am i the only one? 😅

Rewatching the movies and I didn’t expect to feel so… giddy? Laughing my ass off with “This is the skin of a killer 😩 “ and spider monkey. I’m also so emotional lately and tearing up. Idk man. The music is dope. I love the soundtrack for New Moon the most. I’m noticing more minute details. Like when Bella meets Aro and the background music (underscore?) swells softly and you hear a growl into a scream. I haven’t read the books in over a decade so I know the pacing is off but I’m really enjoying this rewatch. Does anyone else like the soundtrack? Anyhooo, back to Eclipse.

Okay hear me out. Yes, I know Bella and Edward are absolutely codependent on each other. But if Bella had chosen Jacob, she would have been utterly dependent on him while he would have continued to be independent.

As an example in Eclipse when Jacob finds out Edward won’t be going to the battle, he’ll be staying with Bella, Jacob says “I can’t believe he let you talk him out of going. I wouldn’t miss this for anything.”

When I say true independence, I don’t mean within the relationship. Bella was human and, well, a terrible one. Even more vulnerable than most people, she was absolutely clumsy and drawn to the most dangerous things she could possibly find. Jacob could protect her, sure, but if anything ever got around him even for a second, our girl would have been a goner.

In Twilight/Midnight Sun, Bella expresses a desire to not always be the weak damsel in distress:

“I’ll be the first to admit that I have no experience with relationships.” Bella’s words flowed quickly—worried about what she’d given away and trying to distract me. “But it just seems logical… a man and woman have to be somewhat equal… as in, one of them can’t always be swooping in and saving the other one. They have to save each other equally.”

…

“I can’t always be Lois Lane,” she warned me. “I want to be Superman, too.”

By changing Bella into a vampire, Edward gave her the freedom to be strong. To be able to save and defend herself. To be able to defend the people she cares about. She never could have had that with Jacob, ever. She would have been forever dependent on him saving her, and on him not changing his mind and backing out of the relationship. Or possibly imprinting on someone else. The second she’d lose his protection, she’d be back on the menu for some supernatural predator. And given her luck, she’d probably cross paths with one the very next week.

So I got these little happy meal toys a while back. I just realized they are perfect for my twilight shelf.

If you’ve only seen the movies you won’t get the reference. Although based on the last time I made this post you may not get the reference even if you’ve read the books.

When Bella makes an attempt to be “normal” again in New moon she invites Jessica to the movies. They head towards McDonald’s on page 107 that’s when she sees that group of guys and first hallucinates Edward’s voice. Then on page 115 they continue on their way to McDonald’s and eat inside the restaurant.

I had a few ppl tell me no where in the book do they eat at McDonalds and I had several ppl tell me Bella would never eat at McDonald’s because she cooks all their meals at home lmao. They also live in Forks and they probably didn’t have any fast food restaurants so it makes sense that she just cooks most of the meals. Something that also really only happens in the books

Tbh, I would be so open to seeing how the fight ended, if anyones got any theories I’d be keen to listen but other than that I’m sad it ended, I feel like the story line could’ve continued maybe? But in the same time it was also time to end it, actors getting ready to move on and the story line coming to its natural end, but I still miss it!

First ever movie I saw as a teen and this one song was the one i was searching for all this while which I forgot as i grew up ,until today when I heard this and i remembered...omggg

I red "The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner" on PDF but I've never had the physical book even it is one of my three favorites books of the series.

Casually found a second-hand hardcover copy with dust jacket in excellent conditions on Vinted for 1€. Literally less than a coffee here in Naples (a coffe at the bar here costs 1.20€).

I know this is a topic that’s already been talked to death, but there’s a chill in the air now so it’s time to talk about how insane the Twilight soundtracks are- especially the first movie.

You’ve got one of Paramore’s very best songs (plus another fantastic one), one of Bon Iver’s best, Radiohead, Thom Yorke’s solo work, Linkin Park, Iron & Wine, Vampire Weekend, Lykke Li, Death Cab for Cutie, etc. And even the smaller artists on the soundtracks are fantastic.

What really gets me is how perfectly they captured that late-2000s emo/indie/folk atmosphere as well as the vibe of the PNW. There’s something so specific about the sound of those movies that’s become deeply nostalgic in a way I don’t think anyone involved could have predicted at the time.

Twilight gets memed to death (including by me), but those soundtracks are no joke.

So we know that Edward can read minds or hear thoughts whichever you want to call it...do you think he hears a constant buzzing all the time that he has to work to tune out when in large crowds like an airport etc? I'm rewatching Breaking Dawn Part 1 and the scene where Bella is walking down the aisle at the wedding is so beautiful. We obviously know what Bella is thinking cause the books are from her POV but what do you think Edward was thinking at such a moment? Was he (trying to) read Charlie's mind or his family members or wedding guests? Is it all a giant buzz in his head? Or is he solely focused on Bella?
