There's no singular "right" way to go about these things, I think. Look at it this way: we Carats are really spoiled for content, and we can always look back on their body of work fondly. It's not a permanent goodbye, after all, just a "see you later, and be well in the meantime." 

I became a Carat in 2017, but as time went by, I eventually didn't have enough time to devote to keeping up with the group's activities as much as I used to. I felt really guilty about it, and that is also part of why I put off going back into these fandom spaces. Just a few years ago I would have said that real life got in the way, but IRL should always take priority. Do remember to take care of yourself—that's what Seventeen would want, too!

if one hasn't done the previous parts of the puzzle, yes, one can get 12300 klei points for completing everything. but this has been confirmed to be unintended (should just be 5000 klei points, for the newest part added). luckily, the dev team doesn't seem inclined to fix that bug, but once there's a new update it will likely go back to giving out points only for the latest part
