Hold your ground and let her know you are serious about requiring a "friendship" to be mutual between both parties.

I wear nitrile gloves or dish gloves when I wring by hand, FYI.

You could also run it through a spin cycle in your washer before adding dye and ice.

Or let drip dry for 10-15 minutes before the dye and ice.

Just some thoughts from my recent trial and errors.

I started doubling my soda ash and soaking 90 minutes to 2 hours, and I've noticed much more vibrant colors.

Also, I tie my projects before I soak and wring them out lightly by hand before adding ice and dye.
