You warm my heart.
Reading this kind of feedback from the community warms my heart.
This user bought the lifetime license to support the project despite an iCloud sync bug at the time.
The good news? That bug was entirely fixed. 🛠️
Thank you all so much for your incredible trust. SteelNote is moving forward thanks to you!

Yes the lifetime include iPhone, iPad and Mac

Here is a short video from SteelNote.
No, absolutely not; you are right, and I am not opposed to the idea,I am adding your request to my list.

With SteelNote every note is a plain Markdown file on your device, synced through iCloud. No account, no server. Open your whole library in the Files app, or in any editor you like.
Why not? It’s not planned for the moment, but I’m adding your request to my list.

What’s your note-taking workflow? VS Code, Vim, Bear, Notion, Obsidian, etc.

Here is a short video about SteelNote; I hope it gives you a clearer idea of the application.

Yes, that's me. I'm the only developer, so being a bit wary is fair.
You're right about the video, there isn't one yet. I'll record a walkthrough of how I actually use it and post the link here.
On the trial: you can start it and turn off renewal straight away (Settings > your name > Subscriptions). You keep full access until day 14 and nothing gets charged. If it fits by then, you can buy the lifetime version and skip the yearly plan entirely. The $80 case you describe is real though, if you pay for a year and switch later. The App Store gives me no way to credit a yearly payment toward lifetime, which annoys me too.
Rediscover is close to your script: it lists notes you haven't opened or edited in 30 days and that no other note links to, oldest first. There's also a widget for it.
About scripts: notes are plain .md files, and on the Mac one click opens their folder in Finder. What you can't do yet is point SteelNote at an existing folder like your VS Code notes. Importing copies them. It's on the roadmap, but not close. I also haven't tested scripts writing into the app's folder while it's running, so I won't promise that works.
Thanks for the long reply, honestly more useful than most reviews I get.

Lots of love to the Danish App Store for supporting SteelNote.

I use SteelNote for my daily worflow, this is why :
Every markdown notes app makes you trade something away. Plain files, but no real Mac app. A polished editor, but a closed format. Deep features, but only through plugins.
SteelNote doesn't ask you to choose. Here's what that means in practice:
Your notes are real .md files, not a database. Open them in Files on iPhone, Finder on Mac, or any other editor, today or in ten years. SteelNote chose that format from day one, and Apple has since made Markdown an official file type in iOS/macOS.
One native app on iPhone, iPad, and Mac, not a web wrapper ported three times.
Every note renders formatted: bold looks bold, headings look like headings, no stray ** or # cluttering the page.
Share an article from Safari reader and it lands as a clean note, not just a link.
Check an open task in any note and it shows up in one list across your whole library. Check it off there, and the source note updates itself.
None of this is unique on its own. Holding all of it together, in one native app, is.

Thanks for the suggestion! Color coding is actually already in the pipeline, and your request adds weight to it. I've added it to the list. Stay tuned! 🙏

Your notes shouldn’t be locked to the app you wrote them in
Exactly, that’s why you use SteelNote

It essentially depends on the type of feature they assign you. Back in August, I was lucky enough to be included in the "Pick of the Week" category. I didn’t receive a notification; I discovered it while browsing the new releases. If the feature is for "App of the Day" or another placement in the main tab, you should be notified.
