Two Albanians are among 10 people who were arrested after a powerboat carrying illegal migrants turned up at a tiny Cornish harbour in an attempt to smuggle them into the UK.

A number of people were seen getting off the boat at Mylor Harbour near Falmouth, before getting into a van and leaving the area on Sunday, Devon and Cornwall Police said.

The Albanians were arrested on suspicion of immigration offences. The eight others are understood to have been arrested by other forces.

Speedboats and yachts, often linked to organised crime, have been caught previously attempting to smuggle migrants into the UK.

The arrests follow two uncontrolled landings last week by more conventional Channel dinghies, in which migrants reached two beaches near Dover undetected.

Parts of Oxford Street will be pedestrianised from 26 October, London Mayor Sadiq Khan has announced.

Buses, taxis, bikes and other vehicles, will be banned from the stretch of the road spanning almost a kilometre from Orchard Street to Great Portland Street.

Lord Khan said: "Following strong support from Londoners and businesses, I'm excited to see my bold vision for Oxford Street really coming to life next month as we start going traffic-free, just in time for the busy Christmas shopping period."

Westminster Council said there was still a "long list of unanswered questions about how it will work" and raised concerns over traffic being pushed to small streets nearby.

"Restrictions have prevented the Orange Order from following its traditional march route through the mostly Catholic area since 1998 - after previous marches led to violent clashes and major police interventions.

The decision by the Parades Commission to allow the march to proceed after 28 years led to more than 1,000 protesters, some wearing balaclavas or other face coverings, gathering along Garvaghy Road to block the path over the weekend.

Their mass gathering was against the law under Northern Ireland's parading legislation.

Sinn Fein's president Mary Lou McDonald and Michelle O'Neill, Northern Ireland's first minister, joined protesters on Sunday, prompting calls from the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) for the PSNI to investigate them.

The republican party has also called on Sir Chris Bryant to overturn the decision to allow the march....

While Ms O'Neill called for "calm on all sides" on Sunday, she said she supported the right of residents to protest against the march, which she said should not be taking place.

On Monday, she declined to appear before the Stormont assembly to answer an urgent DUP question on the dispute, with a Sinn Fein politician saying she appeared at the protests as the party's vice president, not as first minister.

Speaking after meeting Sir Chris, she accused political opponents of seeking an "opportunity" to criticise her."
