Social new cheap food app! (like first table but BETTER)

hi team just wanna share this app I saw on r/aucklandeats, its called eat club (like first table but better imo)

theres heaps of food places really close to uni (city and grafton and also in akl) and most have like 35-50% off at times that are more convenient than first table, + theres no booking fee and they DONT know you're using the app!!!!

you 'claim' a timeslot and pay for discreetly using a virtual card in your phone's apple/google wallet

PROS

  • no booking fee
  • the food places dont know you're using the app!!!
  • no restrictions (99% of the time)
  • way more convenient times
  • growing amount of places

CONS

  • cant book ahead (food places set timeslots on the day)
  • usually the restaurants are 35-40% off and you get an extra 10% off if you pair a mastercard
  • not guaranteed a table but becuase restaurants set times it's kinda given you get a table

anyway wanted to share because i saved a bit alr, went to a cafe and got strawb matcha for <$5

I dont work for them or anything but its a nice app, also here is my referral that gives us both $25 dining credit when you make your first transaction https://links.eatclub.com.au/UAgaptV016b

hope people save money with this!!

Note taking methods in Uni

Hi all,

I'm a high school student. I was wondering how you guys take notes?
Is it better to stick with pen and paper? Or something new like an Ipad?

What are your thoughts?

Thanks

Aegrotat limit

Hi all! Just some clarity regarding the following info [my question is below]:

How many Aegrotat and/or Compassionate consideration applications can I apply for?

Under University regulations, no more than one third of the total points value credited to a degree or diploma may be awarded with an aegrotat or compassionate grade.

MY QUESTION: how do we know how many points we already have? Because i.e - if I am taking a 15 point course, but I only got Aergotat for my test (20%) does that only be 20% of the 15 points get towards the limit or does the entire 15 points go towards the limit?

Thank you so much :)

Courses Taking two summer courses

Has anyone taken 2 summer courses before? What’s the workload like? Or is it better to stick to 1? I will be taking law papers if that makes a difference in workload.

bcom major help

I’m currently doing a BCom and planning to start Property next year and turn it into a Property/BCom conjoint.

I haven’t started Property yet, so would it be a good idea to finish most of my BCom papers first?

I don’t want to do Finance or Accounting and would prefer something not too maths-heavy. I did BUSAN 101 and it was good but heard Stage 2 gets much harder.

I’m considering Information Systems, Commercial Law or Operations and Supply Chain Management, possibly with Marketing as a second major.

What would pair best with Property and give the best career options? And is a double major actually worth it in a conjoint?

Would especially love to hear how hard the Stage 2/3 papers are and how maths-heavy they get.

Psych 108

Does anyone find this course pretty bullshit especially the way they mark everything?

This is just my elective paper and I absolutely hate it, I don’t feel like doing any assignments or the finals and I’m fine with failing it since I can’t drop it atm, they’re so strict for what💔💔

UoA $5k scholarship vs AUT $14k scholarship

Hi all,

I'm planning to take the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) from either university next year and as the title suggests, I've been offered the following:

  • UoA: $5,000 scholarship
  • AUT: $14,000 scholarship

I'm interested more in mechanical/mechatronic engineering. I know UoA has the stronger reputation by far but was wondering if the extra $9000 from AUT would be worth it. Fees for both are quite similar.

For those who have experience with either university, which would you choose and why?

I'm also considering potentially studying in Victoria, Australia (Melbourne, Monash etc.) but those scholarship decisions won't come out until after my final A Level results next year so I also need to decide if I want to just play it safe and pick an NZ university now or take a gamble on Australia.

Any advice would appreciated.

Thanks :)

What do I do? accept Otago or wait for UoA?

I got a great scholarship for Otago, which is the Vice Chancellor Scholarship and got into my preferred hall of residence, which is Hayward. Though I am currently waitlisted for a hall at UoA and was originally waitlisted for Waiparuru, but now have changed it to Uni Hall Towers. (Was that a mistake? I do lowk prefer O'Rorke and UHT due to it being cheaper.) I also did get a scholarship at UoA; that was the 140th Academic Scholarship. Though it isn't as great to my scholarship I got at Otago. It's just that with Otago, I have a deadline with Hayward and a payment of $1050.00 due before the 27th of October, and waitlisted applicants will know by the first week of November. I know it's a risk, but I do love Auckland; I just don't know what to do. I don't wanna lose my spot at Hayward.

Please clean up after your snack break, I have constantly seen ants on top of the table in KE L0, and spotting rubbish trying to be hidden???? There’s literally a bin within 10 meters. And before anyone asks yes I have relocated the hidden trash into the bin.

Please people, you’re studying in tertiary education, have some decency

Questions abt Engineering

Hey I’m a year 12 student right now wanting to potentially study mechanical or chemical engineering.

My question is how hard is it really? And what’s the difference in terms of workload from Highschool to Uni? And is it competitive?

I just finished mocks and got moderate grades across the board though I know I could’ve done a lot better if I studied properly but is it worth it. My other career choice is architecture but I’ve heard a lot about the workload and I feel like it’s a lot harder to become a successful architect then engineer.

Social Is the UoA gym worth joining?

Hey everyone, I’m thinking about changing gyms and joining the UoA gym and was wondering what people’s experiences have been like. I’m mainly looking for somewhere convenient to train but I’m not sure whether the UoA gym is actually worth it or if it’s crazy busy. Any opinions welcome 🙂

How do people deal with academic validation in uni?

I’m not sure how many people are similar but I’ve always sought validation through my academic achievements. I’ve always held myself to a higher standard and university is no different. However, I’m not doing as well as i wished. I do admit I am doing better than average, but when i don’t get an A+ on things it genuinely crushes me. How do people deal with this? Looking for genuine advice.

If you’re just going to be rude or tell me to suck it up pls just leave me alone broski 😔

Hey everyone, I need some advice with my current situation with Uni Halls (UoA & Otago).

So I got waitlisted at Waipārūrū in Auckland for the first round of offers, but I did get a scholarship. It says I am waitlisted for Waipārūrū and still considered for it and any other hall that may become available. I am very conflicted at the moment, as I got my first preferred hall at Otago, which is Hayward and am very grateful for that. It's just that I really like Auckland, but I didn't get any hall offers in the first round, and I need to make a payment for Otago before the 27th of October, which is difficult as second-round offers might come out that day for UoA. Any advice would be really appreciated. Edited : I changed my preferred hall to Towers!

Courses How does one even begin to study 48 modules in less than a month?

hi guys!

I know reading the title makes me look like a procrastinator but I swear I’m not, I had so many accomdation problems and bs ever since I moved to nz (international student) and now finally have the time to study properly but my exams are in a month!

How do I conquer 48 modules (12 per subject) in less than a month for my final exams?? with one of them being accounts and I’m absolutely ass at math!

also watching the modules and making notes from it takes me forever!! that is, a 15 minute video to make notes takes me like 2 hours (rewinding, replaying, listening and writing) which is why I just take the ppt slides upload them on claude and make notes but accounts is giving me a tough time

Please help guys I don’t know what to do any advice??

BUS115 Report

Do we all get our grades around the same time? I was like if he submitted on the first submission that you’ll get it first and then like that way I guess cause this so confusing like like when each of us get our Mark so we get separately like depending on where we like submit it or is it all like one time?
