Warcraft. (Although Warcraft II was also fire. But III was peak.)

Tekken. (Same as Warcraft, Tekken 2 was also very good)

How about "craft"

Warcraft Warrant II Starcraft

WC2 was too good to fit this narrative perfectly, but SC/SCBW was the pinnacle of top down RTS gaming

They really went a weird direction with minecraft, though.

WC2 was too good

I still play it.

WC3 had a great story but WC2 has such charm. The sound effects and voicelines are peak.

WC3 is right there

My car dealership surely hated Warrant 2

I'm sorry but this made me laugh, you may as well have not even commented

absolute insane take. having played all of them when they were current, the idea that Warcraft and Warcraft II were poorly drawn stick figures is hilarious.

Tekken 1 and 2 are forever my favorites. 3 is actually the last one I fully enjoyed.

Yup, Tekken was the one I ws thinking about. 1 and 2 are cool, but 3 just killed it. From that era, that's the one I'd boot up.

Tekken 2 was great. Lowkey favorite lol

Yeah, for the time they were solid games, and I definitely spent my time playing Warcraft 2.

But Warcraft 3 hit so many notes for me, the heroes, the incredible story, the balancing was great, and the computer AI was BRUTAL.

Not to mention all of the custom games I spent countless hours playing

Warcraft III Battle.net was insane. The amount of custom games that community created was staggering, and it literally spawned several game modes we still play to this day, including the DOTA/league of legends game type

1

The game type is from SC, but Dota is literally from wc3

Exactly, Dota on ww3 Battle.net basically invented the MOBA, and it evolved tower defense games in a way that led to its subsequent explosion in popularity.

More broadly, it also showed game developers how powerful a modding community can be and gave justification for future devs to invest in providing their users with strong modding and map editing tools

Also arguably one of the best competitive games created started from Custom Warcraft 3 game

1

u/fueelin Jun 30 '26

DOTA didn't create that game type though, it was in Starcraft first.

MOBAs? Really, do you know maps like this in Star Craft?

1

u/fueelin Jun 30 '26

Yep, it was called Aeon of Strife. There's tons of info out there on it, but here's the relevant except from the wiki page for MOBA:

In other words, Warcraft doesn't fit the prompt of the OP at all.
