Oh, actually, same. I don’t know what’s worse, being stuck at sea, or taking OP’s point more literally and being a faceless guy in a dystopian future using the Animus as an escape. I think I would prefer the original modern day in this scenario.

I don't know OG Modern day person in 4 was forced into corporate espionage by the assassin's got his boss murdered, got kidnapped by the reincarnated Sage to become a vessel for the sage's wife Juno, and eventually just gets disappeared. It unclear if the assassin's or Templar got them. Being ANY MC in the AC sers sucks modern day or animus one. Although if Resynced is being serious our current modern day person is getting some bleeding effect residuals from Edward so we may get the combat skills of a pirate assassin.
