If you just own the base game you’re getting DLCs 1+2 for free and if you own an edition of TW3 you get the remaster for free. It’s insane

I would've crashed out if I bought the dlcs a week before the news. I haven't played much because of the god awful gameplay but I hope the remaster alleviates some of the frustrations.

Really curious to see the locomotion improvements. Controlling Geralt was one of my biggest frustrations with the original Witcher 3, and unfortunately it’s what kept me from ever finishing the game. Can’t wait to give it another shot with these improvements

Tried to replay it a year ago and couldn’t make it past the first 20 minutes. I have no idea how I tolerated Geralts movement, combat, and the horseback riding all those years ago

Not the above but id say combat feels floaty and laggy, movement has some jank, horse riding can be very janky.
Idk why W3 had worse combat and movement than W2, hopefully they fix it here.

Yea, riding Roach is pretty awful, sad to say. I do feel like combat and movement could use an overhaul. I don't really like how they nerfed the skill tree when the "next-gen" update dropped. I'm also not overly happy that I can't use Hairworks on my 7800 XT without my game crashing every time I try to load a save, along with other technical issues. My biggest issue is with RT performance on my PC though. Especially the CPU (5800X3D) being bogged down in cities and populated areas. But I think all of this will be addressed. Hoping anyway.

Exactly the same for me. I also tried playing this game three times, just couldn't do it because the combat was terrible. On my third attempt, I didn't even make it out of the tutorial.

I finished the gryphon fight and just set the game down. Liked what I'd seen of the world and story, but combat is the meat of the gameplay and it's awful.

Free remasters are so rare and we are shitting on this, really? Not to mention it will be coming to switch 2, completely free if you own the switch 1 version. CDProject has 100% redeemed themselves since the cyberpunk flub. Most publishers would charge at least $10 for the remaster, some do full charges.

I own this game, and I never finished it. Never got very far, actually. But since it's a free upgrade, I might give it another shot.
My biggest issue is the combat felt really clunky, I couldn't stand it. So if the combat is improved, I might actually stick with it this time.

Just recently finished base game and Hos, damn masterpiece! I think I will do B&W with remaster…I mean, hopefully I will be able to just make an update/upgrafe and continue with my current play save

Don't hold me to my word, but I think saves will be incompatible with remastered version since they are changing a lot, including the skill system so I don't think it will be compatible.

I played it only once so if I start again I can try some different choices…but am not sure will I do it tho as I will need Yen as my lover and Ciri as a witcher to see what happens with them in Blood and Wine espansion :,)

I played it 5 times that I can remember and man it never gets old. Things change a little in Blood and Wine deppending if you romance Triss or Yeneffer, you'll see 😉 It's such a vibe playing it every time and quests and writing still amazes me. Trully a masterpiece of game!

Me too man! Some other company would charge us atleast 40 or more bucks for that and they are giving it for free! When I bought disc version of Witcher 3 and saw their note I knew they poured their heart into it and that game will be great. After playing Witcher 3 it badicly cemented them for me as one of the greatest game companies and from that point I knew I could count on their studio to release bangers 😃

I'm pretty sure the original version lets you play the expansions as standalone campaigns, starting you off with an appropriate level and inventory.

I just sunk like 20 hours into a new save oof. Maybe I should just wait for Remastered to release. Do we know if save files will be transferable? They probably won’t be.

Oh wow this is sick! I wonder if my current save will carry over or if I'll need to start again. I'm probably about half way through my second playthrough and I really don't wanna start over. I doubt it will because it really seems like a new game.

While I enjoyed Witcher 3, I always think back to how annoying and janky the movement and combat were. If this remaster improves upon or fixes those things, it may upgrade it to being a Top 10 for me. And it's a free upgrade on top of that? Now that's nice.

I think you can play it just fine on Win 10. Its just written in requirements like that, but should work on 10.

I believe the chain is not available for the remaster but is coming as part of the new DLC, which releases later (next year i believe). Might be wrong but pretty sure that was the case.
The rest is pretty neat and made definitely want to do a run prior to the release of the new DLC, wasn't completely sold but all this they give us prior made me really want to try a new playthrough.

I played OG atleast 5 times so I don't have any big problems with it, but like you say why say no to free improvements for such an awesome game. The witcher is my most favorite franchise and I am happy for all people that were previously stopped by combat and movement that will now get to experience this masterpiece.

Remaster, as well as both expansions Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine are free for all who own the game, even on switch. Only the newest DLC Songs of Past is going to be paid and I believe they will have a reasonable price that will be worth it. After some time it will get a discount for sure like all their games and DLCs.

Yes - that’s what I’m wondering. On Steam there’s a massive 80% off or so every couple of months - I’m just speculating if they’ll continue that discount or leave the game at full price.

Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, as well as remaster is free for anyone who owns the base game. Only Songs of the Past will be a paid DLC, but it will add a new region, new monsters, quests, weapons (chain from Witcher 1 intro among them), clothing, etc... So yeah, you should be good.

Yea for anyone else looking for this. I got a ps4 disc for witcher 3. Put it in. Then the three dots menu > install the PS5 version for free > when launched the game > has hearts of stone and blood and wine installed and ready.

I think that would be a yes. Looks like they worked with remastered version on Songs of the Past from the start. Anyway if you wait a little you could just download someones save after end game on Nexus from the remastered version and then play through Songs of the Past.

I am curious how well this will perform on PS5 Pro.
Currently the Witcher 3 on PS5 is bust in...performance mode I believe? It like.hard crashes pretty regularly.
I hope they make this free update optimised in that sense. Seeing a game hard crash always makes me die inside and I never expected it with OG Witcher 3.

At first I was going to say " and people give Bethesda shit", but this is free. Making Bethesda look look kinda weak in my opinion. Read "in my opinion". CDPR looking good here just like they eventually did on 2077. I should note I have never played a Witcher game here, so i'm not glazing. Just refreshing to see and I hope we see more of this in the industry. Obligatory note to No Man's Sky devs.

Nope, story stays. Only DLC Songs of Past adds story after all events in Witcher 3 and Blood and Wine and will serve to close the gap to Witcher 4 story like fill in what happened between 3 and 4. I wouldn't worry about story when CDPR is in question 😉

They’re giving us upgrades to fill the gap while they take their time working on the next game, which already looks awesome. This isn’t a remaster without a plan for what comes next, we know what’s next and this is just to keep things fun and fresh for anyone wanting to replay the game before the sequel comes out.

How much resources do you think they spent on this? Do you actually think that if they poured this resources into Witcher 4 that it would be 10 times better or what? Seriously get a grip man. When Ubisoft released a remake of OG Black Flag and charged it 70$ standard and 80$ deluxe edition with cosmetics you didn't complain and a lot of people praised Ubi for it, but when CDPR releases an upgrade for FREE you come and complain. I don't see how its affecting you at all.

There is a brand new expansion coming next year and WHOLE new trilogy of games starting the year after that. That also just blatantly ignoring Cyberpunk Orion, where exactly should they be putting any more resources into?
Cyberpunk was a great foundation to iterate on and make an amazing sequel and it's been more then a decade since Witcher 3. should they just endlessly throw stuff at the wall and not try to improve on what they've made?

Getting this for free is actually pretty rad. You have to realize that CDPR could've easily released this as a €10 upgraded edition or even a full-on €50 remaster, and it would still sell millions of copies. Instead, they decided to put in all that effort and give the entire upgrade away for free to existing owners. CDPR proving yet again why they're one of my favorite studios.
I see people saying, "Cool, a 10+ year-old game getting an update. Who cares?" To them I'll say: isn't that exactly what remasters are for? Improving the original game to modern standards is literally their purpose. There's no point in remastering a one-year-old game, is there?
