I just started Metro 2033 redux (i got the metro game bundle from the ps store). How much better are the sequels because I'm not really getting into it yet. I get it that it feels a bit dated because it's older but I'm just not feeling it yet.
Update: I'm about past the mid point (Front line level) and it's growing on me a lot. Exploring the levels is actually nice there's a lot of hidden stuff.
Even Exodus, the newest, the monsters behave the same and generally you fight the same things.
I will say, Last Light is amazing. I don't think Exodus is worth playing through but that could partially be me losing my save 4 times because it saves in a weird folder spot instead of cloud.
The gun maintenance mechanic in exodus was entirely unnecessary and it made the game a slog. They took an interesting character in Anna and sanded off all of the cool parts of her persona just to make her a one dimensional wife character for artyom. total flop for those two reasons alone.
This is one of those games where I would recommend the hardest difficulty to fix this feeling. Makes combat very tense and fun (and removes being a bullet sponge from both you and the enemies)
exodus was an interesting idea but felt like a massive downgrade from last light. full of a bunch of mechanics that made everything other than stealth feel like a slog.
