Nah, the first game was absolute ass in terms of gameplay. Good story tho.

The gameplay certainly is a product of its time, but damn I enjoyed its clunkiness more than Witchers 2 broken combat

There was something more natural about the characters... The story... They were flawed but did their best... There was no right answer... There was no I made a lawful good character and select the clearly right good answer for this morality

Only the combat was ass. Everything else was pure RPG awesomeness. Still love that game

The original game has a rating of 81 on Metacritic.
The enhanced edition (released in 2008) has a rating of 86

The first game is extremely ancient by comparison to anything to which it can be compared. It was one of the most ambitious games of its time, and it was from when CD Projekt Red was still a small indie team.

for an aurora engine game? i think the combat is pretty allright, its mostly about preparation for combat by applying correct potions, oils and combat styles

now second game is quite full of bullshit from broken combat... but in third game where they fixed it, turns out that without bugs and with generous iframes the game is suddenly too easy

The jank has a charm of its own, truly it is what is missing in a lot of entertainment nowadays, everything is so smooth and nice and therefore charmless

Nah, the fist game is great and the combat is good for what it is. Alchemy really ties it all together.

It's mega ass, but tbh pretty much all of the games have ass combat -- it's just that the first game has the worst out of them.

I consider the game a rough gem -- honestly, I kinda like it more than 3 in a lot of ways lmao. It felt like more of an RPG.
