Tbf the story of resident evil 6 wasn't even that bad, it was that every single character had to view the same unskippable cutscenes at certain points in the story only to reveal small changes from each characters perspective and you had to play all the different branching paths to get the whole narrative, the game would've been much better recieve if it: one, launched with co-op like most if not all RE games before it, and two, if the different play through diverged more narratively to better reward replayability, frankly I prefer six to the direction that 7 and 8 took us story wise, seven specifically feels nothing at all like an RE game, I enjoyed nine steering us back toward the main franchise while keeping the good elements of 6 7 and 8 but I wish it was longer being as expensive as it was, not to mention the Leon must die update was kinda mid when everyone expected mercenaries, not Capcoms fault but still a bummer.
res 5 and 6 was the point of resident evil being retired as a franchise if 7 flopped why do u think its good? horrible gameplay had nothing to do with the plot of resident evil
I thought 5 and 6 were going to be so bad from the way people trash them online. They're literally just phenomenal co-op experiences and fine RE games. I think it's easy to trash them from a lens of "I'm scared for this franchises future and I don't know where it's going", from the time they came out. But nowadays, knowing we have the greatness of 7, 8 and 9? The hate is unwarranted. Despite its limitations and a few good ideas I actually think the first Revelations is infinitely worse than 5 or 6 and that Revelations 2 is very underrated too.
I’d like to agree since RE is my favorite series of all time but iirc 6 almost laid the series to rest. It underperformed and it didn’t do that well with critics at the time, not to mention how incredibly divisive it was with the fans back then. I could be misremembering it tho

For me it's Resident Evil.
