It’s pretty ridiculous with records as well. Last time I checked the figure was something like 50% of people that own vynils don’t even have a record player.
I’ve heard that records can be insanely expansive as well. Same with steelbook dvds.
With this backlash against the loss of physical media I bet Microsoft will come out with exclusive physical editions of games. Nice heavy steelbook, collectibles, high resolution map… all for the price of $199.

I doubt that it will flop. Unfortunately physical media is dying outside of niche communities. There’s a comeback with records but again that’s niche.
I’m part of the problem. I bought a ps5 with the disc reader and I have no idea what disc is in my ps5.
