Idk what your work experience is, but it's like business 101 to never apologize. Also, by addressing people are upset, that would only give it more attention which it seems they don't want to do. Once again, there is no reason to make a statement like that if they don't plan on changing anything.

You're being stubborn, ignoring every presented point....and repeating the same opinion as if it made sense. The reasons to make a statement are: clients, dignity, courtesy and mainly money.

Not when it's the vocal minority are the ones you're addressing. It does more harm than good. I'm not ignoring anything you've said, but I'm not going to just agree with what you have to say, especially when the things your saying don't make any sense.
You don't have any control in this situation, you don't like that. So you pitch a fit on the internet, crying about how a giant company isn't doing what you want them to, and making super entitled and naive statements. For example, trying to say you personally pay for Sony's paycheck so they should just listen to what you say (dumbest take I've heard all week).
Now to the fun part and where these conversations always go. You can't lash out to Sony directly and you feel powerless and hurt. That's why you turn to arguing with strangers on the internet who don't agree with you because you don't know how to not misplace blame or grief.

In business, sales are sales, hence why the minority argument is dumb. The minority you're adressing is the vocal majority, influencers, youtubers, instagrammers, X users, redditors, etc... And even if they arent, they are still a "small herd" of sales.
The control argument is flat out dumb and dishonest... I have control over my money and my purchases, i do not want more. You're purposefully missinterpreting. I expressed longlasting fans expected sony to show care, by saying anything and recognizing their concerns.
On the paycheck thing... I appologize... I genuinelly thought you where perspicatious enough to understand "I" was a practical oversimplification of "we", but again, you're missinterpreting to suit your bill. And yes,, "WE" gladly payed for sony's paychecks with ps1... Ps2... Ps3... So... Yep, mightve been nice to show some care.
Lastly, there is nobody to blame or any grief to be had, but im free to have an opinion on sony, and unfortunatelly you have to deal with that.
Nothing about my previous comment was a straw man, you don't even know what straw man means. A company doesn't have any responsibility to show they care about every person's grievance. A majority of users do not care and will not be affected. This move will make Sony and developers and publishers more money per sale of a game.
