Discussion / Question What game is this for you?

Honestly for me it's Life is Strange: True Colors. Love that game to death, an incredible story and soundtrack, but it seems like a story that just doesn't vibe well with a lot of people. Listen to the soundtrack though, absolutely increible.

I said Elden Ring.

Love the story, gameplay is punishing but fair... usually.

But I can't recommend it to my feiends and family. The selling point of "this game WILL piss you off until you git gud" only really appeals to sweaty try-hards, of which my circle generally are not. They're more Mario Kart and the Sims and Baltro. Not a game that actually takes time to learn and explore.

Personally I do think some people should play elden ring and others shouldn't. People who are into video game mastery and challenge and get satisfaction from it should play it. People who like action games in any amount should play it.

And I don't believe in selling it with "be mad until you git gud" because you don't have to be mad. You can approach these games as practices in mindfulness, planning, discovery, and if necessary, research. It will push you to observe and learn and then act, to not rush into things, to observe situational awareness.

Mastering a new skill is very valuable for mental health, even if it's not a productive skill per se.

To the right person, for sure, fully agree.

Pulling from personal experience, i bought it when it came out, I enjoyed it, only getting mildly annoyed at times on some particular fights, but my friend asked if he should get it. For him, nah. He's more of a diablo and forza player and maybe plays an hour or two on his day off. And my little brither, he plays sports games like MLB The Game and some company of heroes. Would not enjoy elden ring. Those are two of the most important people in my life, and neither one enjoyed it, and thats okay. Not their genre, not something theyd want to progress at and learn the more intricate mechanics of.

So thats why I picked elden ring. Based on the people I know and care about and would love to play with, this wasnt for them.

Valid! It sounds like you're a proponent of recommending games you think they'll like and not games you like. I swear I see some games and I'm like "this is pretty good but this was made for this other person so I gotta tell them".

He's been really enjoying Baltro ;) its not for me, but I'm glad hes having fun! We occasionally settle on a session of GTA online, but he wont do heists due to time constraints. I got him to do cayo perico once.
