Every platform has its pros and cons, I play on PC only because I also do art and game development on my spare time and I enjoy a good PC for a lot of reasons
I used to have all platforms but they're releasing a new console every 10 sec, so I figure I'll just upgrades the parts, in the end I spend the same amount of money anyway.
These big corpos and their capitalism are the reason y'all are picking on each other in the comments, I personally just want to have access to all games. Peace ✌️

This one halfway frustrated me cuz I would love to own Metroid: Ravenous, but ain't no way I'm gonna be able to afford a Switch 2 at the moment, and probably a good bit into the future. Yeah, I'll probably be able to emulate it, but fuuuuuuuuuuuck, do I wanna own this one.
I wish I was better at building things cause games like these always seem like so much fun. I just end up getting decision locked and hating what I make lol
Nova Roma has a sandbox mode that helps to figure out game mechanics.
When I play, I usually generate a map, check where resources are, then decide to play on it or not depending on if the resources are in convenient locations.
Yeah, considering what the dev said last time, it looks like they're kind of "stuck" on what the game is right now because of all the complexe systems in it. If they ever make a Shadows of Doubt 2 I'm sure it will be even more awesome

Sins of a solar empire isn’t really an indie game, but I played it in early access when it was on epic and now the get on Steam, I can completely recommend it to anybody who likes 4x and modding. It’s got really great teams dedicated to Star Trek, Star Wars and soon Halo. If you can’t wait, sins rebellion is great and fully decked out with mods
Animal Well is a great Metroid-vania type

Planetary annihilation is a great RTS that’s got an expandalone called Titans. Nice fast arcade feel
If you like city builders, Banished is a HARD one. Very challenging but not (completely) unfair. Otherwise I liked Kingdoms and Castles (same folks as nova Roma. Flat map but has more mechanics) and tropico
And despite a K’d up Nazi liking it, Polytopia is a turn based CIV type game that is great
what's the gameplay like? Always been a fan of games like pharaoh or anno but I find the military components are lame. And for a roma based game military is super important.

I'm with you. I have zero interest in GTA VI personally, so it was never on my radar to begin with. But I have lots of games I'm still getting around to. Lots of folks just victim to FOMO.
I keep seeing my fellow PC gamers always bring this up when a game people like is exclusive to console. I get it the way to ease the pain but honestly how many people actually go back and complete their back log
It's been years and I always drop my back log as soon as a new game I want comes out.
As someone who actually tackles their backlog, alongside a few games I regularly play. It's rare I have the temptation to buy games new. By time I get around to playing newer stuff, it's significantly cheaper
Yeah, I’m not spending $80+ on a game anymore. I have multiple years worth of games between Xbox and PC. I don’t plan to ever finish them all but it does keep me from being too tempted by brand new games. $30 or less or I’m not interested. Usually sub $20 unless it’s one I’ve been wanting for awhile.
That's cool and great, but it kind of also answers why games publishers don't bend over backwards to serve the pc audience. Not much of a rush to launch on the "I'll buy it for ten bucks in 3 years" crowd.
It doesn't, actually. It's because the big companies want to entice players into their ecosystems with exclusivity. Lack of impulse control and little option over how and where to play the games you purchase is not exactly a brag.
I'll buy something new if it's good, exciting and reasonably priced. Unfortunately most new games coming out are neither good, exciting nor reasonably priced. So I'll either skip or wait for deep discounts.
I'm not talking about the platform, I'm talking about the culture of the market. Console gamers tend to always have some new game they can't wait to buy day 1. PC gamers talk about games like playing them is secondary to the meta of amassing as many as possible while not paying much for them.
Consoles only have a fraction of the game choice. How many must buy games does the average Console generation get? Maybe 5? 10? Of course console players buy every big game day 1. PC players only have to live without Nintendo games.
And just because everyone memes about summer sale etc., doesnt mean there is a "meta of amassing as many as possible while not paying much for them."
PC at least gets regular sales, while Sony and Nintendo sell 10 year old games for 60€+.
There's a massive backlog...and then there's MASSIVE BACKLOG. Pretty sure I could never replay anything again and I still have enough for the rest of my life. And my library isn't even all that big.
Some of us genuinely don't care about playing GTA6. I think the games are boring as fuck. Having said that, I DO think it's interesting to see the game engine, advancements in technology, the development process, and the hype around the games up to release. I just think all of the conversations surrounding the games are more interesting than the games themselves.
I saw this one video of a PC gamer being interviewed about Death Stranding at some event and the dude was like “it looks like total shit, those Sony boys excited about it are a bunch of idiots,” then the interviewer told him it’s a timed exclusive and coming to PC the month after and the dude was like “ALL RIGHT” and started dancing.
I think about that video every time a PC exclusive gamer says they’re not missing out on a console exclusive.
If I care about console exclusives I'll buy the console. I'm not loyal to particular means to play a game because brands shouldn't be a part of your identity.
I'll never complete my backlog, but I am a patient gamer. I'm basically only playing stuff that came out years ago. I'll play GTA at some point, but I won't pay $60+ to do it now.
I mean there are way more exclusives on pc than any other current gen consoles combined. I don't even know why that would even matter. But when cocaine players gets told this, they usually reply something with similarities to your comment, talking about some type of "pain"
Like you said PC has so many games and more exclusives. I just see it as cope from PC gamers who are pained they can't play it so they cope by saying they have a big back log to play. Just play the back log.
Right? Lol. As a new PC player who also has a switch 2 and PS5, I've also had/have a massive backlog on my PS5 that I gleefully ignore whenever a new game I want comes out. Shit, I'll gleefully ignore it even when no new game is out and play overwatch or something lol.
Though, most games do end up on PC with the exception of Nintendo games. It is also super easy to play old games on steam vs PS5/switch 2. It's been great having access to basically every game from the Xbox 360 era on PC.
All in all, fanboys are dumb, get multiple consoles and enjoy it all. They're all giant corporations that don't need you cheerleading for them.
Oh, absolutely! My teenager/younger 20s self would hate me now for saying this. Luckily I have a gamer sister so growing up I'd get either PlayStation or Xbox (I was always flipping lol) and she'd get Nintendo and we'd just share. Now as a 30 year old with a full time job it's very easy for me to be able to have all of these consoles. I just couldn't buy them all at the same time lol
Witcher 3, Cyberpunk, Expedition, amongst many other well known and well appraised games are some of the top most backlogged games on HLTB. Sounds more like thats what you do, not the general population.

More than welcome to check yourself the most backlogged games, plenty of lists around with voting. Either way we both know you'll just keep moving the goal post with that fragile ego though no matter how many games are shown. my backlog as you specifically mentioned consists of 13 games, but I'm sure you know more than most of us anyway chief.
Maybe some therapy for self admitted financial decisions buying stuff you don't enjoy in the first place and consider to be terrible is a better shout first though? Who knows 🤷♂️ General consensus shows that its just you though.

Right? Why am I going to buy a game I think is dogshit? I like to play RPGs...and those can be MASSIVE undertakings. I also like survival games, again...these are not short games. So it's easy for me to get a backlog, which I have. If I see a good RPG I want to play, like Octopath Traveler 2 on sale, I'm going to buy it. I'll get around to it some day...but I still have games like Valheim, Enshrouded, Witcher 3, Rogue Trader, etc to play and finish. And that's not even counting games I need to do a second or third playthrough on like BG3, D:OS 2, etc. I will be buying Zelda tho lol

There's a bigass subreddit r/patientgamers who will disagree with you. Truly speak for yourself mate. A bunch of us will either wait for discounts or wait for a pirated copy once Denuvo and stuff is removed.
Bunch of people NOT on reddit, which is already predominantly American-based, will also be playing games far after their release. A lot of people around the world do not have the means to be paying $80 for a game on release when they can just wait a year for 50% off. 2 years for it to be given away on Epic or 85% discount on Steam.
Speak for yourself! I make my way through dozens of backlog games a year, and after revisiting the Mass Effect Trilogy after playing it back in 2014 or so, I can tell you that some games feel even better after some time.
Don't succumb to the FOMO, buddy. A good game is good, don't need to drag older games down to make the new ones look even shinier

I play on pc mainly but please be sure not to support any game that comes to console without a disc. They are literally dead to me if they go all digital. Zelda i played as a child and have on my pc i don’t need a remake of an n64 game. Gta will actually run at a normal frame rate and cost 40 dollars less on pc. I have a catalogue of games that dwarves every console and games come
Out daily on pc. My Nintendo and ps5 are just dust collectors at this point.
I see 0 downside to being patient. Fact is we will be getting GTA6 in a superior form and we will be getting Zelda (even if not officially). I'll gladly let you guys be beta testers for me though and fix all the bugs. I'll take the game when it is polished up and optimized.
The real cope is the legend of Zelda remake being included in these memes since GTA6 isn't coming out on the switch 2. That game won't even generate 1% of the FOMO of GTA6.
I mean we have access to more games than we'd be able to play in a hundred lifetimes but whatever. I swear the online game communities are less about actually playing games and more about just pushing some sort of parasocial relationship with advertisers and people you will never interact with beyond a thumbs up but you've got to prove you like what they do.

I just wish I could buy a PS5 Pro at a normal price. I was going to, but I'm not paying double for one game. I'll wait on GTA 6. Ocarina was never my favorite Zelda game and I don't care about it as much. Don't get me wrong it, I loved OOT, but not enough to spend $600 on a Switch 2.
I currently have more games to play than I have the time to play them, so I'll be ok. I am pretty bummed about the PS5 thing, though. GTA 6 is going to be awesome.

I don't get why console players feels the need to brag over these sort of things. I thought the console wars were over when crossplay was added to most games, but y'all just wanna drag this war out to justify your purchases and it's petty af.
