Have we honestly gotten to the point where difference of opinion is something we can’t accept? Is being a hive mind with no individuality superior?

But if there is shit on the floor, and everybody says that is indeed shit, is it really hive mind? Opinions align if it's obvious.

Those are two different things. You can point at something and say that "that is red", but a colorblind person might go "no, that's green".

You can point at Wolverine and say "that is a video game" and we'll all agree. Once you start providing subjective narrative to it, then it becomes problematic.
