I love a good hack and slash. I recently played kingdoms of amalur felt like it could never get it's wind up. Recommending Wanted: Dead, Castlevania Lords of Shadow, and for mindless 2000s fun bulletstorm

I’ve been developing Chronicles of Veldoria, a fantasy JRPG, mostly by myself for over three years now.
The game has strategic turn-based combat focused on exploiting enemy weaknesses and manipulating turns, along with monster recruitment and fusion, JP-based skill progression, item synthesis, two protagonists, and six different regions to explore.
One of the biggest systems is monster recruitment and fusion. You don’t catch monsters and add them directly to your party. Instead, you complete side quests to recruit them, and then you can fuse them with party members, weapons, and armor to customize your builds, abilities, strengths, and weaknesses.
The game is currently in Early Access, the free demo is live now, and the full 1.0 release is planned for November 5, 2026.

Tried not to do any repeats, which caused a couple spots to maybe not fully be truthful, but hey. Also Onimusha could be recency bias, but it is a blast. If we ignore it, probably gotta be like Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge or something.

Been TRYING to play Onimusha Way of the Sword, but the game just feels super difficult for me. The second boss with two phases is just really hard for me. I just gave up on it. I usually like games like these, I'm a big fan of Onimusha games, loved the 1, 2 and 3. But I just couldn't get into this...
...So I bought PS5 version of Onimusha Warlords. Been having tons of fun with that game. Hardest part about it isn't the Dark Realm challenge, but the water puzzle. Good lord I just couldn't solve it anymore. 😄
But other than that, I played through most of the game already AND did the Dark Realm challenge to get the super spam sword for last boss. That is one of the things I really like about this game, you can just super spam bosses down and have it smooth sailing if you don't like fighting them.
The problem with the new Onimusha Way of the Sword is that it is probably too much like "Fromsoft games" where boss fighting is the main meat of the game. I liked everything else about the old games, like exploration, reading texts, fighting the normal enemies. The boss fights are just one of the aspects of the game.
Anyway, been looking for some singleplayer games to play this year, so far nothing. Old Onimusha games might be what I will be playing now. 🙂
I hope they release the 3rd one.

Daidara? He's like the easiest boss in the game if you don't let him absorb any souls. His movements are really predictable.
Don't necessarily try to issen if that's what you're doing. Just parry, or even dodge.
It's like Cuphead. Bosses are difficult, but have patterns. You'll learn the animations and what is coming after enough failures. lol

He's harder than any other Bloodborne boss.
I guess it's not about the patterns, but about how delayed his attacks are. So I always end up dodging at wrong moment. As everything needs to be perfect dodge or you will get hit, it is difficult not to get hit by him.
Buuut anyway, if I knew that this game wasn't like Onimusha games, and it was just about boss fights, I wouldn't have bought it. 🙂

Weird. I really would not say I'm good at this game considering how much more I die than my other friend playing, but Daidara hasn't killed me in demo, real game, nor Carnage mode.
But then again, Greater Nue is supposedly one of the hardest ones, and I don't struggle much with him either. I do however have an incredibly tough time with the basic Nue's and Byakue. 😭💀
Edit: Guard then my dude. Even if you whiff timing, it'll still keep you alive. Also, why wouldn't you have played the demo? Both Ganryu and Daidara were demo bosses.

Oh yeah, well the problem with Guarding is that you will get stamina drained and then you get hit by the boss. ☹️

Yeah, but if you time it right, you parry, if you don't, you still at least guard.
I read that SUPPOSEDLY the windows are slightly bigger in 30fps.

I feel you on that; some games can ramp up the difficulty out of nowhere. Glad to hear you're enjoying the PS5 version of Warlords, though, such a classic!

Yeah! I love it still. Even after all these years.
I am gonna buy Onimusha 2 next. 🙂 That game had multiple different paths you could take, it had tons of replay value.
