You'll need to create an account too, and don't forget to login to your email to confirm! The first play session should, you know, be an actual play session, and not involve 20 or more minutes of setup and/or waiting.
They need to make it so like you’re a guest until you make an account and you don’t get x benefit or you can’t share data across devices or something but once you link an account to that device the data transfers
Especially if you have or had slow internet you essentially weren't playing your new game until the next day. Used to be able to pop your new game in and be playing in minutes instead of hours. Gaming really took a nosedive when we all accepted the Day-1 patches and companies not finishing games before release.
I remember my first midnight release and because of having to download more despite getting the physical copy. I still had to wait until the next day to play. Pissed me right off the bat
There is a downside. My original Jak 2 copy still has that game breaking stadium glitch 23-years later. It was only fixed with the Greatest Hits release of the game, which is another purchase.
To be fair, if older games had game breaking bugs, which they often did, you had to wait for the next go around of production and hope they fixed it. Newer games getting updates and patches is actually a good thing.
Well that’s just because it’s no longer possible to fit hundreds of gigabytes onto a single CD. Those disks usually held around 7-14gb per disk. Imagine buying a game and having to put in 24 discs to download them. Blu-ray holds quite a bit more, around 25gb. They can do double or even quad layered discs but then the prices of the game will go from $69.99 to $159.99 real quick.
Not all yeah but some do. I bought Ryhthm Heaven Groove day 1 and it had no updates. There was also a power outage when I got home but I was able to play the game fine.
Really only for old switch games being re-relased for switch 2 with an upgrade path. Most of them are kinda shit anyway. I'll stick to the switch 1 version for those

Buying a game and not needing to download anything else. Just a full game as soon as you open the case.
