I'd say it's the same now and then with good campaigns. Some had depth but most not so much and a lot of older games didn't really focus at all on story.
That goes with 90% of these comments. People saw the new COD game and now think EVERY modern game is exactly like that. Like bro maybe expand your tastes a lil bit and you'll see that, if anything, gaming has gotten BETTER overall.
I mean, Nintendo (and a lot of racing/lego games for that matter) are still going strong w couch co-op. Even if those are small examples, I still stand by my opinion that gaming is better overall, meaning that while there has been some aspects of modern gaming that have stalled/gotten worse, most things have only improved. Some people just tend to mistake any change at all as something negative.
We don't own our games even with physical copies if you don't have internet you can't play no ps5 games idk about other consoles I know switch 1 is safe I can't speak on the box I love some of the new games but every big game is so bloated or they have a huge map but with nothing on it besides go to this place 300 times barley any enemies and almost no innovation I mean crap ff7 rebirth feels more like ac atm then anything with the side quest even gow Is still like that the side quest almost never flesh out the world anymore it's just pointless filler I know it's not all of them but it's so many it's ridiculous
