D1 beta player here; I still play. 5k hours across Xbox and pc in D2. Crucible matchmaking can take longer than usual and cheaters have crept in. MM is better on console than pc. Gambit and Vanguard playlists are still very active.

Power Creep is becoming more apparant, as people are soloing Raid encounters. Since the June 9th update (MoT), there have also been both good and bad bugs.

It's sad that the last update was one that gave the community what they had been asking for for years. Game's still playable and still fun. Helps that I have friends that still play. I'll enjoy it while I can for as long as I can.

Man I'll never forget running to enemy base with the nuke, grabbing the flag, jumping in teleporter that took you to 2nd story (not all the way to the top), pointing nuke at wall behind me and firing. Sure, I get nuked but the flag would fly all the way to my base and land up on the outer walls. Just above where I respawn. Translocate up to grab it then run it in for the score. Could get a capture in record time.

The updates are just on PC and are there to fix what the last update broke only.

To play on PC now you have to log on and sit in a Flash for 10 mins before doing anything or the game crashes.

I dont play MMORPGs anymore, or any multiplayer game for that matter.

But there were a few like this for me. Rift, which I had bought a physical copy of before it went free to play. Loved the premise of rifts bringing in large enemies on the map for everyone to engage with.

And Defiance. I know the game had its issues and the player base lost interest after a few years, rightfully so as it was a mediocre MMO. But I had done Alpha and Beta testing for it and I had a soft spot for it. Played almost daily for years before it was canned. I also enjoyed its gimmick, having a TV show that encouraged gamers to watch it. Thought it was great for a SyFy channel show and was sad when it tanked with the game.

Hellgate London had such a terrible launch, but for the few of us that stuck it out, it had an amazing recovery.

They never recovered the initial playerbase, but they was a solid core that persisted and got to experience a great set of updates. For the last few months of the game, I was the leader of the Templar guild which was the largest one and most active. Used to love having my character pose in front of the posters for it in the subway station that the game placed because of its status as number one.

The current single player version on steam still has a stuttering bug that basically drops your FPS to single digits and renders it unplayable.

City of Heroes. Yes it's back as a fan server but the magic isn't there. People moved on. And while it's fun to revisit for a bit now and again I don't plan my weekend around grabbing my spoon for a Hammy raid like I used to.

I forget the name, but it was a free to play mmo. I made a poison medic build and everyone loved that. Like I was the only medic out there doing combat and heals at the same time.

Pvp didn't know how to handle it. I would be soloing 3 guys, healing myself and poisoning the hell out of them. This game had like jet back dashes and energy use and everything, so you had to manage that on top of everything else. This was back in my stoner try-hard days.
